REVELATION FROM THE OLD TESTAMENT PRINCIPLES OF ATONEMENT |
This section lines up precisely with the 21 points covered under the Chapter ‘Day of Atonement’ in 'Eagles Fly High!'. They can be referred to there for further clarification.
A. ATONEMENT PRINCIPLES TOTALLY FULFILLED BY JESUS
(Fulfilled both Positionally and Experientially.)
These first ten principles have all been totally fulfilled by Jesus, as explained in Hebrews, Chapters 9 & 10.
We will only look at the first five today, as there are lots of Scriptures to be read to get the full understanding of what is written.
The numerous and varied sacrifices pointed towards the single, all encompassing sacrifice Jesus made on our behalf at Calvary. No further sacrifice is required, our sacrifice being complete in Him. (Hebrews 7:26-7, 9:11-28, 10:1-18(v10))
Hebrews 7:26-7, 9:11-28, 10:1-18(v10)
Since Calvary, the Church, now consisting of all believers in Christ, whether Jew or Gentile, has become the Nation of God. Jesus made full atonement for the church, His precious bride, on the cross. (Romans 3:9, 28-9, 1 Corinthians 10:32, 12:12-13, Revelation 19:7)
Romans 3:9, 28-9, 1 Corinthians 10:32, 12:12-13, Revelation 19:7
Aaron had to cleanse all three parts of the earthly Tabernacle with blood, including the Holy of Holies By implication therefore, the earthly Tabernacle being an exact representation of the heavenly one, each of the three levels of heaven have been infected with sin. Job confirmed this.
Job 15:15, 4:18, 25:5
While the scriptures are not completely clear concerning the method of cleansing of the heavens, it would seem most likely that the blood of Jesus has been and is sufficient to do this.
Hebrews 8:1-5, 9:1-28
Possibly the ‘Highest Heaven’, was cleansed when Jesus ascended to the Father. Not worth getting into an argument about though! But the remaining two, the atmosphere and the earth itself, will be cleansed in the last days. For Satan and his angels are to be cast down to earth, here to be defeated by the overcomers of our key verse, Revelation 12:11.
Revelation 12:1-12
Christ alone made the once only, all sufficient Atonement in order to reconcile man to God.
There is no way we can seek to help Him or earn our own atonement, whether through good works or by any other means.
Hebrews 4:14-16, 8:1-2, 9:14-15, 10:8-10, 17-18

(Fulfilled both Positionally and Experientially.)
With the last 5 of the 10 principles.

A NOTE FROM DAVID |
I never cease to be amazed at how God foreshadowed the role of Jesus to come, in the Old Testament.
Everything God does has a plan and purpose, so often beyond our understanding.
QUICK OVERVIEW OF BABYLONIAN HISTORY - 1
Babylonia (pronounced babilahnia) was an ancient empire that existed in the Near East in southern Mesopotamia between the Tigris and the Euphrates Rivers. Throughout much of their history their main rival for supremacy were their neighbors, the Assyrians. It was the Babylonians, under King Nebuchadnezzar II, who destroyed Jerusalem, the capital of the Kingdom of Judah, and carried God’s covenant people into captivity in 587 BC.
The Bible reveals much about the Babylonians all the way back from the time of Hammurapi (2000 BC) to the fall of Babylon (about 500 BC). Throughout the Old Testament there are references to the Babylonians, their people, culture, religion, military power, etc.
Babylonia was a long, narrow country about 40 miles wide at its widest point and having an area of about 8,000 square miles. It was bordered on the north by Assyria, on the east by Elam, on the south and west by the Arabian desert, and on the southeast by the Persian Gulf.
The earliest known inhabitants of Mesopotamia were the Sumerians, whom the Bible refers to as the people of the "land of Shinar" (Gen 10:10). Sargon, from one of the Sumerian cities, united the people of Babylonia under his rule about 2300 B.C. Many scholars believe that Sargon might have been the same person as Nimrod (Gen 10:8).
