The next few teachings will be kept brief as we are mostly busy at this time of the year. again, lots of scripture to enhance our understanding.

| B. ATONEMENT PRINCIPLES ‘POSITIONALLY’ FULFILLED BY JESUS
(To be Experientially fulfilled, that is Embraced, by the Church)

The exciting realisation for today is that Jesus has left opportunities, for those who desire to grasp them, to assist Him in fulfilling God’s mighty plan for mankind. For there are 12 promises Jesus ‘positionally’ fulfilled on the cross, but which are waiting to be embraced by His church in ‘experiential’ fulfilment.
This is the privilege and pleasure that has been delegated to His Tabernacle church.

Formerly a literal day, to be solemnly celebrated as a national day of repentance by all members of the Jewish nation. This Atonement experience is now available on a continuing basis, to each one who is prepared to accept and apply these ongoing repentance truths. For God has revealed His principles, making them available for our acceptance at the time we are prepared to commit to them. As Passover and Pentecost are ongoing experiences, available to those who choose to believe, so Atonement is similarly available on an ongoing basis.
Salvation is the act of cleansing sin from our lives, Atonement the process of cleansing our lives from sin. At Salvation we commit our life to Christ, by Atonement we live our life for Christ, through the enabling of the Holy Spirit released within us. True atonement amongst believers will in turn bring true Church unity now God’s nation, including all believers, both Jew and Gentile) in fulfilment of the unity symbolised by the gathering of the whole nation for the Day of Atonement, during Old Testament times.

Fasting is the temporary giving over to God of our most basic human instincts of food and sex. All it takes to make a man happy, many women say!
God generally acknowledges our commitment by more clearly opening up the communication channels of mind and spirit with Him. Hence I am writing this while I fast, in order that the will of the Lord may be more clearly reflected in it. It is an integral part of loving our life to the death, for it shows God in a very practical way that we are prepared to forgo our most basic pleasures in order to honour Him. As the Day of Atonement truths are implanted in our lives, so the desire to fast increases, for the Day of Atonement was a fast day.
Unfortunately fasting does not seem to result in long-term weight loss though!

 These elements are to be entered into by the mature believer.
One of the biggest problems in the church today is that we are not taught and encouraged to move on to maturity. But for those who are prepared to make the sacrifice, the rewards are both present and eternal.
QUICK OVERVIEW OF BABYLONIAN HISTORY - 3
As previously mentioned, in 587 BC, the Babylonians destroyed Jerusalem and carried the leading citizens of the Kingdom of Judah as prisoners to Babylon. The Hebrew prophet Jeremiah had foretold that the Jews would be free to return home to Jerusalem after 70 years. The Lord had encouraged His people through Ezekiel and Daniel who were also captives in Babylon. During this 70 year period of captivity, the Persians conquered Babylonia, and the Babylonians passed from the scene as a world power.
Throughout the long period of Babylonia history, the Babylonians achieved a high level of civilization that made an impact on the whole known world. Sumerian culture was its basis, which later Babylonians regarded as traditional. In the area of religion, the Sumerians already had a system of gods, each with a main temple in each city. The chief gods were Anu, god of heaven; Enlil, god of the air; and Enki or Ea, god of the sea. Others were Shamash, the sungod; Sin, the moon-god; Ishtar, goddess of love and war; and Adad, the storm-god. The Amorites promoted the god Marduk at the city of Babylon, so that he became the chief god of the Babylonian religion, starting around 1100 BC.
Babylonian religion was temple-centered, with elaborate festivals and many different types of priests, especially the exorcist and the diviner, who mainly were trained to drive away evil spirits.
Babylonian literature was mainly dominated by mythology and legends. Among these was a creation myth written to glorify their god Marduk. According to this myth, Marduk created heaven and earth from the corpse of the goddess Tiamat. Another work was the Gilgamesh Epic, a flood story written about 2000 BC. Scientific literature of the Babylonians included treatises on astronomy, mathematics, medicine, chemistry, botany, and nature.
