A WALK THROUGH THE TABERNACLE OF MOSES
THE STORY
A farmer who has sinned has come to the Tabernacle of Moses, to seek forgiveness of his sin by bringing the best lamb of his flock. He has entered the gate (of SALVATION THROUGH JESUS) of the Tabernacle. He has made his SIN SACRIFICE upon the Brazan Altar and is now ready to learn about the front part of the TENT OF THE PRESENCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. Now the High Priest describes the Holy of Holies where the PRESENCE OF GOD THE FATHER DWELLS. Finally the High Priest describes his procedure on the DAY OF ATONEMENT, when both his and the Israelites unintentional sins are forgiven.
ESTABLISHING GOD’S PATTERN FOR THE CHURCH
APPLICATION TO TODAY’S CHURCH
THE KINGDOM (TABERNACLE) CHURCH – Moving into the Holy of Holies
“When Christ came as the high priest of the good things that are already here, he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not man-made, that is to say, not a part of this creation. He did not enter by the means of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption.”(Hebrews 9:11-12)
“Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. (v36) “You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.” (Hebrews 10:19-23,36)
Entering the Holy of Holies, being in the presence of God, being at one with God, is the ultimate objective for both the individual and the church. We can see from the scriptures above that entering the Holy of Holies is a supernatural experience, and was even for Jesus. Through His entry, He has opened the way for us to join Him there also.
So here arises a problem. If Jesus has made the way for us to join Him in the Holy of Holies, to be in the very presence of God, how is that we haven’t joined Him there yet? Let’s look at the Ark of the Covenant to find out where we are heading. The Ark, where the presence of God dwelt between the Cherubim was only able to be approached once a year by the High Priest and then only after he had gone through a comprehensive purification procedure. When he finally entered, he had to quickly burn incense to form a cloud that would hide him from the full glory of God Almighty, in whose majestic holy presence he could not hope to survive. For even though he was forgiven of his sins, he still lived in a corrupted human body that would continue to deteriorate with age and eventually die. Yes, he had been forgiven, but still suffered from the consequences of sin, just as we do today. Forgiven but not perfect, just like you and me, well me anyway! My body tells me so, after a run particularly!
The Ark contained 3 items, which in turn relate to the three pieces of furniture in the Holy Place. First of all, the Gold Jar of Manna. The ‘gold’ (speaking of God) jar contained manna, which God had supernaturally provided, 6 days a week, for the Israelites to eat during the forty years they were wandering in the desert. In the Holy Place, this relates to the Table of Showbread where God kept the 12 loaves of bread fresh for 7 days, the priests eating and replacing them after this time. The bread represents the Word of God, which we need to keep digesting on a regular basis by reading and studying our bibles. The manna however was supplied continually by God. Spiritual manna is the revelation of God This golden jar of manna is symbolic of God’s full revelation of Himself, available only upon attaining perfection.
The second item in the Ark was Aaron’s Budded Staff. When placed in the presence of God it miraculously produced buds, blossoms and almonds. The staff represented God’s authority, the authority of His priesthood, of which Aaron was the first representative. It relates to The Lampstand in the Holy Place with its branches, flowers, buds and blossoms. The lamp, symbolic of the anointing of the Holy Spirit, had to be attended to twice daily. So we need to continually top up on the Holy Spirit in our daily lives. Our ‘wicks’ also need to be trimmed daily, which speaks of ongoing daily repentance. The budded staff however tells us that upon perfection, we will walk in God’s authority in the full power of the Holy Spirit to fulfil the words of Jesus,
“I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” (John 14:12)
The final item in the Ark was the 2 Stone Tablets of the Covenant. These were, of course, not the original tablets brought down the mountain by Moses. The originals were the personal work of God.
“The tablets were the work of God; the writing was the writing
of God, engraved on the tablets.” (Exodus 32:16)
They were ‘pure God’. But the ‘impure people’, had made a golden calf to worship because Moses had been away for so long.
“When Moses approached the camp and saw the calf and the dancing, his anger burned and he threw the tablets out of his hand, breaking them to pieces at the foot of the mountain.” (Exodus 32:19)
God as represented by the tablets, could not live with sin. Moses was walking in the glory of the Lord so smashing them was an automatic reaction, for God’s glory would not coexist with sin. The people would certainly have been wiped out in an instant.
The second set of tablets (two copies of the same thing, not half on each. A copy each for the two covenant partners, God and man) were made by Moses but written on by God.
“The Lord said to Moses, “ Chisel out two stone tablets like the first ones, and I will write on them the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke.” (Exodus 34:1)
This second set of tablets then, represented man (the stones) being made perfect by God. (the words). Moses made and God wrote upon the tablets. So, in the Holy of Holies we had the presence of the perfect God dwelling between the cherubim above the Mercy Seat, (Jesus) covering the Ark containing the stones, representing sinful man perfected by the fulfilled covenant. Everything fits together perfectly.
But back now to our comparisons of the present with the promise. The Incense Altar symbolises the way we are able to enter into God’s very presence, through prayer, praise and worship. The tablets in turn, symbolise perfected mankind. Once again we are able to walk with God
“in the garden in the cool of the day.” (Genesis 3:8),
returning to the ongoing relationship Adam and Eve had with God before they sinned. Only this time it will be both better and eternal, as our faith will have been proven whereas theirs was not.
(To be continued)
FROM THE WORD
THE WORDS OF JESUS
May we hear what the Lord is saying to us.....
Parable of the Net (Matthew 13:47-52)
Once more, the kingdom of heaven is like a fishing net thrown into the sea that caught all kinds of fish. When it was full it was dragged ashore. The good fish were put into baskets while the bad ones were thrown away.
“That’s the way it will be when the end of the world comes. The angels will go out and separate the evil people from the good, and throw them into the blazing furnace where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.
“Now do you understood everything?”
“Every religious teacher who’s learned about the kingdom of heaven is like a house-owner who brings out from his storeroom both new and old treasures,”
Jesus Calms the Storm (Matthew 8:23-7, Mark 4:35-41, Luke 8:22-5)
When travelling to the other side of the lake.
“Let’s go across to the other side of the Sea.”
When the storm came and the disciples woke Jesus
“Be quiet! Be still.”
“Why are you so frightened? Haven’t you learned to trust me?”
There Heals a Demon-possessed Man (Matthew 8:28-34, Mark 5:1-20, Luke 8:26-39)
Jesus talking to the evil spirits.
“What is your name?”
Legion, meaning many. The man begs to go with Jesus.
“Go home to your own people, and tell them everything the Lord has done for you and how he has been merciful to you.”

TWO DOUBLE CATARACTS!!!
We normally do single eye cataract operations with the second eye done later if required.
However, last week 2 gentlemen insisted on having both eyes operated on at once. Successfully fortunately for both!
The man on the left has already had his eye patches off and is very happy.
Emmanuel is shown removing the eye patches on the other.
Both men had been blind for 3 years as the cataracts, which are very dense here, robbed them of their sight.
SAPIRA MUSANGA
Sapira is a teacher by profession and does farming. He has been blind for 2 years, which has forced him to resign from teaching.
Fortunately his wife has been very supportive.
He came to the hospital because of the testimony he heard from another client.
The double surgery was most effective. This is a relief, because you have no options left after operating on both eyes! Lily and the team are very professional, and the result was expected.
He was very happy and has found a new dawn in his life that he didn't think was possible as he went blind.
Sapira has now decided to return to teaching and continue with his farming. He has a substantial area of tomatoes, as shown here with Emmanuel.
A success story.
PATRICK WANYAMA
Patrick told us he had been blind for 3 years.
He had suffered a lot and spent some time trying to locate our facility for assistance.
His wife was harassing him because he was not able to provide anything for the family. No social welfare here in Kenya! He lost his chicken and cows because of his blindness.
After coming to the facility and being successfully operated on he was very happy! He thanked the hospital for the good job they are doing to eliminate blindness in the community and in assisting less fortunate people.
He promised to bring a lot of people who are as blind as he was and to pray for the hospital forever.
Unfortunately he lived too far away for us to get a home photo at this time. Another time.
BOOK OF THE WEEK
WHOSE CHURCH IS IT ANYWAY?
When asking the Lord what He wanted me to write about next, He has led me to look at HIS CHURCH, not in the way of standard church history, but from His viewpoint. I will try my best to be obedient to His wishes. But any errors will be mine! As you will soon see, the history of His church revolves around the Holy Spirit, and the Spirit's activity upon the earth, rather than what we consider the church to be. Before I start I must give you a little personal testimony. I hope my testimony will show you that what is to come has to be of God, for it is outside my personal nature, experience and inheritance. I was brought up in a traditional Baptist church in the 1950's and 60's. (Yes I am that old! On the outside but not the inside! Well.....) My grandparents on both sides of the family were traditional churchgoers, as were my parents, as is my sister, and most have been active in church leadership. I was brought up to believe, yes, it was ingrained deep within me, that one had it all, when you gave your heart to Jesus and were water baptized (on the Baptist side) or attended church (on the Presbyterian side). I tried giving my heart to Jesus. Nothing happened. My (younger than me) sister was getting water baptized, so I decided to as well. Nothing happened. I attended church until I was 30ish, and to all, including my wife Kathy, was a reasonable Christian. In fact, a pastor of mine suggested I should go to Baptist College and train for the ministry! If only he had known what was inside of me! During my time at university, I went with some friends to an AOG Pentecostal meeting, hated it, and vowed and declared I would never go back! I didn't. After a disagreement with the church, I left and went into the world, where I remained until I was 42, when we went bankrupt. At that time I was truly 5 desperate, not being able to look after my family, so truly gave my heart to Jesus when waiting in the queue to register for the dole (Unemployment Benefit) at the Social Welfare Office in Takapuna, Auckland, where we were living at the time. Over my time away from the church, Kathy got involved with the things of the Spirit. Didn't like it, but couldn't really complain, could I? After my true conversion, we went back to a traditional Baptist church. Kathy did a Holy Spirit course at another church also. I could not understand the notes and ridiculed them. Not a good move! For the next year the Lord told me to go and do the course! Had to eat humble pie! Over that year of doing the 'Word of Life' course, I came into the things of the Holy Spirit, which changed my life. We eventually joined the Abundant Life Church, where we remained until the Lord took us away from Tauranga to the city of Napier, where we now live. In Tauranga, while working in the fields attending to the flowers on our flower farm, the Lord, in an audible voice, called me to set up Walking With Jesus Ministries, to be based on Revelation 12:11, one of the results of which you are reading now. 11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death. (Revelation 12:11) (Emphasis added, as the Lord gave it to me.) I do not want to go into now all the things the Lord has done. I just want to say that I now do my best to follow the leading of the Lord, through His precious Holy Spirit residing in me. (And in you too, if you truly believe.) What follows will be a real test of this, for as you can see from the above, it is far outside my natural nature and inheritance, to understand the ways of the Spirit. May the Lord help me as I endeavour to bring His revelation to you.

A DAVID MUSING
Here we are in December!
Another year has gone by in a rush. Or maybe in not so much of a rush if you have been locked in by Covid!
I am sure that all will think that this year has been different -one to remember, or perhaps to tell the grandkids about in the years to come.
Or maybe one to forget!
Whatever our view on the year passing rapidly, it is obvious that it has changed our lives and ways of thinking.
As Christians, the divide between pro and anti vaxes is wide and will take some healing.
Personally, I think our focus on Jesus has been lost. The tyranny of the present, whichever side of the argument of Covid may well have overtaken and replaced our faith in Jesus. Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith, and in these difficult times we need to once again grow our reliance upon Him. For without Jesus, Covid or no Covid we are eternally lost. That is the fact of the matter for every dedicated follower of Christ.
As the year comes to end, may we refocus our attention and life upon Jesus. For He is the only answer there is.
His servant and yours
David Tait
