MORE ON HOLY SPIRIT ANOINTING
Last week we looked at two areas influencing Holy Spirit anointing which seem to be common throughout the world. More activity with the people than with leaders. Secondly, the effects of culture on the openness of peoples response to His anointing. The third area of difference I have observed, particularly in the developing world, is between town and country. Generally, the anointing is greater, the smaller, and poorer, the area is. If you really want to experience Holy Spirit power, go into the country! To the small towns, to the villages!
As a generalisation, the bigger the city worldwide, the more independent the people, the less reliant upon God. But the villagers have to rely upon Him, for He is their only hope - literally.
While we all naturally want greater prosperity, the reality is that the it's receipt generally serves to reduce our reliance upon the Lord. And we preach a prosperity doctrine......
Let us consider the true prosperity message of the Bible and build our treasures in Heaven where rust and decay does not destroy. For me, there is nothing sadder than seeing a rich man's grave, knowing that all he has worked for finally counted for nothing, as he is parted from it all for eternity.
Heavenly treasures seem a much better bargain to me.
But then I am always one who looks to the future, much to my wife's frustration at times!

AN EXPERIENCE FROM THE PHILIPPINES
Passed by "The Holy Spirit Medical Centre." Wonder what treatment the patients received?A thoughtful Filipino experience.
FROM THE WORD
SABBATH LAWS“For six years you are to sow your fields and harvest the crops, but during the seventh year let the land lie unplowed and unused. Then the poor among your people may get food from it, and the wild animals may eat what they leave. Do the same with your vineyard and your olive grove. “Six days do your work, but on the seventh day do not work, so that your ox and your donkey may rest and the slave born in your household, and the alien as well, may be refreshed. “Be careful to do everything I have said to you. Do not invoke the names of other gods; do not let them be heard on your lips." "(Exodus 23:10-13)
A SABBATH-REST FOR THE PEOPLE OF GOD
"Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it. For we also have had the gospel preached to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because those who heard did not combine it with faith. Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said, “So I declared on oath in my anger, ‘They shall never enter my rest.’â€
And yet his work has been finished since the creation of the world. For somewhere he has spoken about the seventh day in these words: “And on the seventh day God rested from all his work.†And again in the passage above he says, “They shall never enter my rest.â€
It still remains that some will enter that rest, and those who formerly had the gospel preached to them did not go in, because of their disobedience. Therefore God again set a certain day, calling it Today, when a long time later he spoke through David, as was said before: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.†For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience. For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. (Hebrews 4:1-13)
DAVID'S DOODLINGS
GOD’S REST (3 OF 4)One of the most important things I have had to learn in my walk with Jesus is not to strive in my own power, but rather to rest in Him and let Him do it all. I am learning – sometimes slowly!
Lord, teach me not to strive!
oooOooo
At work we seek rest. In God we strive to work. Something is wrong here!
oooOooo
Resting in God seems too easy to be religious. It is! And it isn't!

The evening bfore the Pastor's conference, held near Davao in the very south of the Philippines, I went down town to buy some dinner. Purchased a beautiful rotisseried piece of pork fron a street end or, then a donut (well 3 actually!) from 'Mister Donut.' Followed by an American Fuji apple from a sidewalk stall. All for 90 Pesos. (About $US1-50) Cheap, delicious, and a good statement of the Asian/American influence mix of society here. The Asian part was the healthiest!A tasty Filipino experience.
LAUGHING AT OURSELVES
238. FAITH
The fields were parched and brown from lack of rain, and the crops lay wilting from thirst. People were anxious and irritable as they searched the sky for any sign of relief. Days turned into arid weeks. No rain came.
The ministers of the local churches called for an hour of prayer on the town square the following Saturday. They requested that everyone bring an object of faith for inspiration.
At high noon on the appointed Saturday the townspeople turned out en masse, filling the square with anxious faces and hopeful hearts. The ministers were touched to see the variety of objects clutched in prayerful hands - holy books, crosses, rosaries.
When the hour ended, as if on magical command, a soft rain began to fall. Cheers swept the crowd as they held their treasured objects high in gratitude and praise.
From the middle of the crowd one faith symbol seemed to overshadow all the others: A small nine-year-old child had brought an umbrella.

FACTS FOR FUN
LAST WEEKS QUESTION: What Aztec emperor is said to have had 50 goblets of hot chocolate each day?ANSWER: Montezuma allegedly drank 50 golden goblets of chocolate every day. It was the ONLY beverage he consumed! Some claim he liked it thick as honey and cold and flavored with chili peppers, but others say it was merely flavored with vanilla and spices. The first chocoholic?
THIS WEEK'S QUESTION:
Answer Next Week. Are brown eggs any different to white eggs?
SOME FUN FACTS
840. A TASTY SMELL
About 90% of taste is generated by our sense of smell. So if we lose the ability to take a good whiff of what we're eating, we are unlikely to really taste what we're eating either. (Now I know why I don’t like ‘Tripe and Onions’. Smell it cook!)
841. WHAT GOES ROUND, COMES ROUND
In 17th-century Massachusetts, smoking was legal only at a distance of five miles from any town. (Won’t be long before it is re-enacted.)
842. A WRENCH FOR MONKEYS
Many believe that the monkey wrench has something to do with monkeys. It hasn’t. Rather, the tool is named after the man who invented it: Charles Moncky - spelled in some sources as Charles Moncke. (Very likely some monkey business here.)

A FURTHER FILIPINO EXPERIENCE
Was taken on the back of a motorbike to Pastor Vic and Beth's home, situated in a Moslem area, for breakfast. After sharing their delicious Filipiono food, they took me down to show me their piggery, which was most hygenic and impressive.Upon returning to the house, Vic shared the frightening experience of how their settlement was attacked by rebels from the mountains on March 19 last year, at 9:30pm. A sad but real part of life here in many areas, although it has reduced significantly in recent years.
A sobering Filipino experience of man's inhumanity to man.

DO PETS RULE YOUR HOUSE TOO?
YOU GOTTA HELP ME!There once was a lady who was very concerned about her missing parrot. Not knowing what to do, she called 911. "You gotta help me find my parrot!"
The operator patiently replied, "We can't help you with that, ma'am. This number only deals with emergencies." But the lady persisted, and then the operator told her not to be concerned, that the parrot should fly back in a few days. Then, out of desperation, the lady begged, "But you don't understand! The only thing he says is "Here, kitty, kitty!!!"
10 THINGS A CAT THINKS ABOUT
1. I could have sworn I heard the can opener.
2. Is there something I'm not getting when humans make noise with their mouths?
3. Why doesn't the government do something about dogs?
4. I wonder if Morris really liked 9-Lives, or did he have ulterior motives?
5. Hmmm ... If dogs serve humans, and humans serve cats, why can't we cats ever get these stupid dogs to do anything for us?
6. This looks like a good spot for a nap.
7. Hey - no kidding, I'm sure that's the can opener.
8. Would humans have built a vast and complex civilization of their own if we cats hadn't given them a reason to invent sofas and can openers in the first place?
9. If there's a God, how can He allow neutering?
10. If that really was the can opener, I'll play finicky just to let them know who's boss!

A FINAL FILIPINO EXPERIENCE
Seeing the poor, uneducated, underprivileged pastors come down from the mountain areas to our conference and absorbing and understanding the message of God's future plan for His church has been a great blessing for me. Once again God has shown me that education is not an essential for understandingHis principles. The single requirement is an open heart.
A humbling and satisfying Filipino experience.

As I met with more and more people in ministry, the difficulty of balancing family life with ministry becomes ever more apparent as a worldwide problem.Conflicting demands of time and money between family and people cause difficulties in most pastoral households.
Maybe you can give me some suggestions as to the answers?
