IN HIS TIME
Isn't it amazing how God works! For months, in some cases, years, I have had a desire to...*** Include a cartoon in PGIM!
*** Set up an internet radio station teaching the truth's of the kingdom of God.
*** Upgrade our internet site.
*** Finish our pilot TV programme.
Lack of a cartoonist (you wouldn't be able to make out my scribbles!), lack of sufficient speakers, lack of money, and God's delay, had frustrated my ability to do the things that I know God wants me to do.
By nature, I am an achiever, preferring doing to talking! Has both advantages and disadvantages! Satisfaction when a goal is achieved, frustration when it's not! But our God wants us to be like Jesus, with a balanced character, as He had. So He sets out to train and change us. A process none of us like too much! But necessary, if we are to become salt and light to the world.
I have had particular difficulty in recent times with the TV programme, for by my own actions, I could have easily organised for it to be finished. The other goals though, were outside my direct control, first needing God to move. With the TV though, God said 'Wait'. 'But God, it's 99% finished!' 'Wait. Rest in me, my son.' 'But God..... Okay then.'
Do you have battles with Him, too? Why do we fight when we know we can't win! Why are we so slow to learn that it is easiest to give in the first time?
Finally, I came to a place of true peace and rest - in this matter, at least. 'Okay God, your will and ways are perfect. I will wait for you.' What peace and comfort that brought! To truly rest in Him. To trust Him. To be obedient to His will.
Then along came last weekend. My friend Asher Peri, who runs our ministry in India, arrived at our home, bringing with Him Paul. The problem of radio programme material was solved through Paul's offer to help. Was I happy! Thank you Lord!
Along came Thursday. I took Asher out to visit Ray and Elaine, our TV production people, where the Lord gave me the go ahead to finish the programme. THANK you Lord!! Evening came. Through Paul a cartoonist, John, arrived on our doorstep! THANK YOU Lord!!! With him was a young man, Raymond. Raymond is a web designer, and he offered to upgrade our site for free. THANK YOU LORD!!!!
The lesson for us? As we learn to trust and rest in our God, not only do things happen, but even before they do, we can have peace, truly knowing security in His will. Sure, He has graciously given me the means to fulfil visions and dreams, but far more importantly, has imparted the peace that passes understanding, of knowing, without a doubt, irrespective of circumstances, that I can truly rest in His hand. And so can you. As we learn to give up our life, so He builds His life into us.
Now Lord... what about book publishing? Okay! Forget it! I give in! I'll wait for you!

FROM THE WORD
"There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience." (Hebrews 4:9-11)"We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently." (Romans 8:22-25)
"As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield
for all who take refuge in him. For who is God besides the LORD? And who is the Rock except our God? It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he enables me to stand on the heights. He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze. 35 You give me your shield of victory,
and your right hand sustains me; you stoop down to make me great. You broaden the path beneath me, so that my ankles do not turn." (Psalm 18:30-36)

DAVID'S DOODLINGS
GOD'S REST20. God’s rest is a gift, but resting in God a way of life.
21. God’s rest is learned, not earned.
22. God’s rest is free, not earned. Rest in God is also free, but learned.
23. Gods rest is freely given, but rest in God must be freely learned.
24. A believer receives God’s rest, but a disciple rests in God.
309. Man seeks to strive for God. God wants us to rest in Him. Couldn't be easier, couldn't be harder!
310. God's rest is to be sought not only in death, but firstly in life!
311. Lord, teach me not to strive!
312. At work we seek rest. In God we strive to work. Something is wrong here!
313. Resting in God seems too easy to be religious. It is! And it isn't!

FROM YOU - TO ME - TO YOU
Dear David,Um ... Israel fell to Assyria under Shalmaneser at the time when Hezekiah was king over Judah and Isaiah son of Amoz was prophesying (2 Kings 17, 18). Ten years afterward Shalmaneser's successor, Sennacherib, invaded Judah and captured many of its cities; his forces laid siege to Jerusalem but were driven out by a plague sent on them by the angel of the Lord (2 Kings 20:35, 36).
It was over a hundred years later, in the time of Kings Jehoiachin and Zedekiah and the prophets Jeremiah son of Hilkiah and Ezekiel son of Buzi, that Judah fell to ebuchadnezzar of Babylon (2 Kings 24, 25).
But then, a hundred years is but a second in the eyes of the Lord, so perhaps it isn't such a great mistake.

LAUGHING AT OURSELVES
351. BACKWARD CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS
Backward Christian Soldiers, Fleeing from the Fight
With The cross of Jesus nearly out of sight
Christ our rightful Master stands against the foe
But forward into battle we are loathe to go
Like a mighty tortoise moves the church of God
Brothers we are treading where we've often trod
We are much divided many bodies we,
Having different doctrines not much charity
Backward Christian soldiers fleeing from the fight
With the cross of Jesus nearly out of sight!
350. HOW CAN I GET THERE?
There's the story of the new Pastor in town who got turned around on his very first Sunday on the way to the new church He stops the paperboy and gives him the street address and then adds "you know that's First Baptist Church."
The kid wants to help so he very politely says, "Oh sure, down three blocks, make a right, 2 blocks make a left and it's in the next block on your right."
The preacher is moved by this kind of friendship to a newcomer like himself so he says, "son, how'd you like me to tell you how you can get to Heaven?"
At this the kid laughs slightly and says, "How you gonna do that, you can't even find First Baptist?"

CHARTING PARENTHOOD: A STAISTICAL PORTRAIT OF FATHERS AND MOTHERS IN AMERICA
The great majority of Americans will become parents at some point in their lives. The statistics presented in this volume suggest that for the vast majority of parents, raising children is a central focus of their lives. But how much do we know about the experience of parenting in America today, about the decisions and actions of fathers and mothers, even about the planning (or lack thereof) that precedes conception and childbearing? Where previous efforts have focused largely on the experiences of women and mothers, Charting Parenthood greatly expands our understanding in these areas by bringing men systematically into the picture and offering the best available data that include both men and women, fathers and mothers, for more than 40 indicators of parenting, fertility, and family formation. When men and women are both considered we find that, in some critical areas, their views and experiences diverge, while in other areas there is surprising agreement.
The data also provide important insights into the value men place on family life and childrearing, and on the multiple contributions that fathers can make to the lives of children. These insights suggest that many men have a deep commitment to raising children in the context of marriage, and that substantial percentages of fathers are deeply and regularly involved in play, discipline, and primary caregiving........

LIFES A LAUGH!
More proof that real life situations make the best humour. It is our choice whether we laugh or cry at the predicaments we find ourselves in.BIRTHING A GAME?
I'm an obstetrics nurse at a large city hospital, where our patients are from many different countries and cultures. One day while waiting for a new mother to be transferred to our division, I checked the chart and assumed that, because of her last name, she was of European descent. So when she was finally wheeled in, I was surprised to see that she was Asian.
As I was performing the exam, we chatted, and she told me she was Chinese, and her husband's ethnic heritage was Czechoslovakian. After a short pause, she quipped, "I guess that makes my children Chinese Czechers!"
MISTEAK OR CHICKEN!
On a flight home after a business trip, Bill was waiting for his meal. By the time the attendant reached his seat, only one dinner remained on her cart. Nonetheless, she followed routine by asking, Steak or chicken?"
Bill stared at the dinner for some time before responding, "Okay, I give up. Which is it?"
TOGETHERNESS
My Parents had not been out together in quite some time.
One Saturday, as Mom was finishing the dinner dishes, my father stepped up behind her. "Would you like to go out, girl?" he asked.
Not even turning around, my mother quickly replied, "Oh, yes, I'd love to!"
They had a wonderful evening, and it wasn't until the end of the evening that Dad finally confessed that his question had actually been directed to the family dog, laying near Mom's feet on the kitchen floor.

A DAVID MUSING
God has a huge sense of humour and a penchant for doing the unexpected! For the past week we have had our ministry's Indian Representative, Asher Peri, staying in our home.
Naturally, we wished to bless him by arranging ministry opportunities. But everything we tried came out negative. Doors that should have been open were shut! I was hugely embarrassed!
But as it turns out, the week has been wonderful! For the developments in today's leading article came through Asher's contacts! He has hugely blessed us! And, of course, through this, he also has been blessed.
Yes our God works in wonderful and unexpected ways. So let's all be ready for them, not limiting God to our human expectations.
Thank you Lord. Thank you Asher.
So until next week...
MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOU BLESS GOD.
His servant and yours
David Tait
