JESUS TALKS ABOUT THE KINGDOM (Kingdom mentions in the Gospels)
9 “This, then, is how you should pray: â€â€˜Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, 10 your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. (Matthew 6:9-10) Part 7Last week, we looked at the word 'come', thus completing our analysis of the phrase, 'your kingdom come'.
We now move on to the first two words of the next phrase, that is, your will.
The your is obviously God. For we are praying to Him.
The word will that follows, however, requires a much deeper look. What does the word 'will' actually mean?
We saw last week that the kingdom coming is a process rather than an event. When we look at the word will, we see a similar pattern emerging. For God's will is again, a process, set out from the beginning of time, to be fulfilled gradually, step by step, in His people.
Before we get into the Greek, let us consider the matter of time. For us, time is like a ruler. We are born at measurement zero, and we progress through time, 1, 2, 3, 4..... until we come to the end of our life's ruler, when we die. Our human life is finite, with a beginning and an end. Time is a 'ruler' over us too, isn't it! Excuse the pun! Particularly noticeable as the years of our lives creak on!
However, this is not true of God. God has no beginning or end. In the Book of Hebrews, Melchizedek, a picture of Jesus, of God, was described in this way.
3 Without father or mother, without genealogy, without beginning of days or end of life, like the Son of God he remains a priest forever. (Hebrews 7:3)
We can describe God as being like the infinity symbol, where He moves backward and forwards through time as we understand it, seeing it all as one. This is an extremely difficult concept for us humans, limited to a small fraction of time and space, to understand.
Of course, time is a curse of sin. Before Adam and Eve sinned there was no need for time, as they would have lived forever.
19 By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.†(Genesis 3:19)
In the Old Testament, God revealed His ability for His will to be outside of time .....
9 Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. 10 I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please. (Isaiah 46:9-10)
And confirmed in the New.....
9 And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 10 to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment—to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ. 11 In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, 12 in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. (Ephesians 1:9-12)
The Greek word for 'will', in the context of God's will being done, is thelema. Its' meanings include, 'a determination, specifically purpose, decree; abstractly volition.'
God has decreed His will over the earth, past present and future. Over our lives.....
5 Man’s days are determined; you have decreed the number of his months and have set limits he cannot exceed. (Job 14:5)
Over events.....
37 Who can speak and have it happen if the Lord has not decreed it? (Lamentations 3:37)
Over the death and resurrection of Jesus.....
22 The Son of Man will go as it has been decreed, but woe to that man who betrays him.†(Luke 22:22)
Everyone and everything, whether we believe it or not, is living, dying and behaving under the ongoing decreed will of God. Again, God's will is a process, not an event.
11 In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, 12 in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. (Ephesians 1:11-12)
Of course, we have free will, granted in accordance God's will, but, as he is outside of time, knowing the beginning from the end, He knows the choice we will make, for He made us in the first place.
16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. (John 15:16)
While the subject of free will v predestination continues to challenge our time-limited human mindsets, to the God of God's, the Lord of Lord's, living outside of time, there is no confusion. For, as we will see as we continue, His will 'will be (is continuously being) done on earth as it is in heaven.' Hallelujah! Amen!
(To be continued next week.)
PS: I understand that some of these concepts may be very different to you but I just ask you to read for the next few weeks, without rejecting them out of hand. Please pray about it also. Thanks. David.

FROM THE WORD
Melchizedek the Priest"This Melchizedek was king of Salem and priest of God Most High. He met Abraham returning from the defeat of the kings and blessed him, and Abraham gave him a tenth of everything. First, his name means “king of righteousnessâ€; then also, “king of Salem†means “king of peace.†Without father or mother, without genealogy, without beginning of days or end of life, like the Son of God he remains a priest forever. Just think how great he was: Even the patriarch Abraham gave him a tenth of the plunder! Now the law requires the descendants of Levi who become priests to collect a tenth from the people—that is, their brothers—even though their brothers are descended from Abraham. This man, however, did not trace his descent from Levi, yet he collected a tenth from Abraham and blessed him who had the promises. And without doubt the lesser person is blessed by the greater. In the one case, the tenth is collected by men who die; but in the other case, by him who is declared to be living. One might even say that Levi, who collects the tenth, paid the tenth through Abraham, because when Melchizedek met Abraham, Levi was still in the body of his ancestor." (Hebrews 7:1-10)
"“Listen to me, O house of Jacob, all you who remain of the house of Israel, you whom I have upheld since you were conceived, an have carried since your birth. Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you. “To whom will you compare me or count me equal? To whom will you liken me that we may be compared? Some pour out gold from their bags and weigh out silver on the scales; they hire a goldsmith to make it into a god, and they bow down and worship it. They lift it to their shoulders and carry it; they set it up in its place, and there it stands. From that spot it cannot move. Though one cries out to it, it does not answer; it cannot save him from his troubles. “Remember this, fix it in mind, take it to heart, you rebels. Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please. From the east I summon a bird of prey; from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose. What I have said, that will I bring about; what I have planned, that will I do. Listen to me, you stubborn-hearted,
you who are far from righteousness. I am bringing my righteousness near, it is not far away; and my salvation will not be delayed. I will grant salvation to Zion, my splendor to Israel." (Isaiah 46:1-13)
Spiritual Blessings in Christ
"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment—to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ. In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory." (Ephesians 1:3-14)

DAVID'S DOODLINGS
RELIGION, REVELATION AND GOD'S KINGDOM1037. Religion controls, God's kingdom releases.
1038. Religion seeks to define an infinite God. By definition, it is doomed to failure.
1039. Religion seeks to interpret the answers to life found in God's kingdom. Surely a direct approach is best.
1040. As religion goes, God's kingdom grows.
1041. Revelation and religion make incompatible companions.
1042. Religion resists change while revelation requires it!
1043. Revelation formalised soon becomes religion institutionalised.
1044. God's kingdom breeds revelation, religion, rules.
1045. Religion is man's adaptation of God's revelation.
1046. When religion fails you, turn to God.

302. MISTAKEN E-MAIL
It is wise to remember how easily this wonderful e-mail technology can be misused, sometimes unintentionally, with serious consequences. Consider the case of the Illinois man who left the snow-filled streets of Chicago for a vacation in Florida. His wife was on a business trip and was planning to meet him there the next day. When he reached his hotel, he decided to send his wife a quick e-mail. Unable to find the scrap of paper on which he had written her e-mail address, he did his best to type it in from memory.
Unfortunately, he missed one letter, and his note was directed instead to an elderly preacher's wife, whose husband had passed away only the day before. When the grieving widow checked her e-mail, she took one look at the monitor, let out a piercing scream, and fell to the floor in a dead faint. At the sound, her family rushed into the room and saw this note on the screen:
Dearest Wife,
Just got checked in. Everything prepared for your arrival tomorrow.
P.S. Sure is hot down here!
301. ROOM IN HEAVEN
One day a doctor, a farmer and the president of an HMO arrive at the Pearly Gates. St. Peter hesitates, because heaven is getting kind of full. Finally he tells the doctor, "You may come in, for you have taken care of the sick in their time of need." Then he turns to the farmer and says, "And you , too, may enter, for you have grown food to nourish your fellow man."
Then St. Peter turns to the HMO executive. "Well, I guess you can come in too - but only for three days."

FACTS FOR FUN
LAST WEEKS QUESTION: Can your eyes pop out when you sneeze?ANSWER: It’s simply not possible. For you can’t keep your eyes open during a sneeze. The reflex to close them is too great. (Try it out for yourself! You can have one of my sneezes, for I have plenty to share.)
THIS WEEK'S QUESTION: If you cut an earthworm in half, will it grow into two new worms?
Answer Next Week.
106. BITTER AT FIRST
The earliest bars of chocolate were made of bittersweet chocolate. Milk chocolate was first introduced in 1875 when Henry Nestle, a maker of evaporated milk and Daniel Peter, a chocolate maker, got together and invented milk chocolate, which today is preferred by 80% of the world's population. (Much enjoyed in copious quantities!)
107. DE-SKINNED
If the skin of a 150-pound person were spread out flat, it would cover approximately 20 square feet. (There is more to you than you think!)
108. NATURAL BIRTH CONTROL
A recent U.S. study reports that there are fewer births 9 months after a heat wave. The study found that an increase of 12 degrees Celsius (approximately 21.6 degrees Fahrenheit) in summer temperatures reduces births the following spring up to 6 percent. Researchers at the Kinsey Institute for Sex Research at Indiana University, concluded that high temperatures could reduce people's sense of well-being, which could result in a reduction in sexual interest. Another study found lower sperm counts and higher rates of miscarriage during hot weather. (Or maybe it is just too hot!)

70. TRUSTING TORTISES
Three tortoises, Mick, Andy and Roy, decide to go on a picnic.
So Mick packs the picnic basket with beer and sandwiches. The trouble is the picnic site is ten miles away so it takes them ten days to get there. When they get there Mick unpacks the food and beer. "Ok Roy give me the bottle opener."
"I didn"t bring it" says Roy. "I thought you packed it".
Mick gets worried, He turns to Andy, "Did you bring the bottle opener?"
Naturally Andy didn"t bring it. So they"re stuck ten miles from home without a bottle opener. Mick and Andy beg Roy to go back for it. But he refuses as he says they will eat all the sandwiches while he's gone.
After two hours, and after they have sworn on their tortoise lives that they will not eat the sandwiches, he finally agrees. So Roy sets off down the road at a steady pace.
Twenty days pass and he still isn"t back and Mick and Andy are starving, but a promise is a promise.
Another five days and he still isn't back, but a promise is a promise.
Finally they can't take it any longer so they take out a sandwich each, and just as they are about to eat it, Roy pops up from behind a rock and shouts, "SEE! I KNEW IT! I'M NOT GOING!"
71. KITTENS
During the midst of rush hour traffic, a bus driver pulled over to the next stop just in time to pick up a boy carrying a strange looking box.
Curious, the bus driver looked into the box and saw four tiny little kittens - so young that their eyes hadn't yet opened.
"I haven't seen kittens that young for a long time," the bus driver said, "What are you going to do with them?"
The boy, looking a bit puzzled, replied, "They're not kittens, they're athiests and I am taking them to church". The bus driver decided to leave that one alone and continued on his rounds.
A few days later the boy got on the same bus with the same bus driver. The bus driver recognized the boy carrying the curious box and said, "I see that you brought your athiests with you again, are you going back to church?"
The boy replied with a grin, "They're not athiests any longer, they're Christians - their eyes have been opened!"

The word BEAUTIFUL.......... was first used in the English language by William Tyndale when he produced his 1526 translation of the New Testament. Some scholars were outraged that he used such a new, fashionable word in his translation of scripture.

Middle East unrest, Muslim openness globally
Because of uncertainty and fear, Muslims are looking for truth.FouadMasri.jpg
USA (MNN) ¯ With unrest spreading across the Middle East and North Africa, country leaders are doing all they can to preserve their power. In Iran, government leaders are clamping down on the protests. In Jordan, reforms are being proposed. In Algeria, huge public spending programs are being implemented to placate the populous. The political unrest coupled with an uncertain faith is a recipe for changed hearts.
Founder and President of the Crescent Project, Fouad Masri, says because of uncertainty and fear, Muslims are looking for truth. "With the Internet and with globalization, and with people traveling and with the news, they're finding that Islam is not a system that's working. Islam is not a religion that answers the hope for the future and eternity. So they've been seeking."
During this search, Masri says, they notice differences. "They start noticing that their governments are oppressing them. They're governments aren't allowing them to read Bibles. The internet is blocked. People cannot blog or put down their ideas without being hurt. This is creating a hunger."
Masri says as Christians we need to support the freedom they're seeking. The way the Crescent Project is doing that is by giving them a copy of the New Testament so they can know Jesus. "The Gospel of Jesus Christ impacts us spiritually, changes our values and changes our heart, releases us from the captivity of sin, and gives us a way to live in a community."
Because of this intense search, Masri says it's amazing what is happening. "Every week we are seeing people take Bibles, people committing their lives to Christ. We've never see this kind of an openness among Muslims."
He adds, "We are seeing a move of the Holy Spirit because they're starting to read the Word of God, a Christian is taking action and showing love to a Muslim, they are seeing dreams of Jesus, and now Muslims are saying, 'Hey, there's something there that we have never seen before.'"
This isn't just limited to the Middle East; it's happening all over the world. "The Lord is using this to plow the hearts of people, especially the Muslims, to see the need for the seed of the Gospel. We are the sowers of the seed, which is His word."

A DAVID MUSING
The past 2 weeks has seen the beginning of what will undoubtedly become one of the most momentous changes in the world political scene, with the 'revolution' in what we call the 'Middle East'. On 1 January, if you had said that the long term dictators of Tunisia and Egypt would have been overthrown, and many others seemingly on the way out, you would have been regarded as a mad, false prophet! Yet the pack of cards that then, seemed relatively stable, is well and truly collapsing in a heap. While we have seen, in relatively recent times, the much bigger, totalitarian, Communist Russian and East European empire collapse, I would venture to suggest that the worldwide ramifications of the current crisis in the Arab world will be more far reaching in their worldwide effects.
Of course, the State of Israel is at the very heart of the fiery cauldron, and will be hugely affected by the happenings in the nations around her. Much of the church, infiltrated by Replacement Theology, is ambivalent towards her fate. This is difficult to understand for all Bible prophecy points towards the central involvement of Israel in end time events. The maelstrom which is the Middle East today, combined with the effects of climate change, whatever the cause, are pointers to the fact that end times are upon us.
The first revelation the Lord gave me on the day that I went into full time ministry was an interpretation of the Book of Ruth relating to end times, showing the interrelationship between Ruth (a picture of the church) Naomi (Israel), and Boaz (Jesus). The resulting teaching will be in 'Tuesday Teachings' from next week, or can be read in full now at A REVELATION OF... THE BOOK OF RUTH. Be amazed - as I was when the Lord gave it to me!
We certainly live in interesting days! May His bride prepare herself! Then come, Lord Jesus, come!
Until next week.......
MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOU BLESS GOD.
His servant and yours
