A 'PROSPEROUS!' NEW YEAR TO YOU
It is traditional, in New Zealand at least, to wish others a 'Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.' But what is the definition of 'prosperous'?The other morning, as I lay relaxing in bed with my wife, the Lord, as he is want to do at unusual times, placed in my head three new David's Doodlings. I had to hurriedly find pen and paper in case I forgot them, as I seem so easily able to do! The first was...
"Earthly prosperity is 'just a little more'. But heavenly prosperity is learning to be content with what the Lord has given."
As I write another thought comes to mind...
"True prosperity is found through internal acceptance, not external acquisition."
As Christians at New Year, are we really saying to our friends, "We wish you rest, peace and contentment in God this coming year"? Something to think about?
In this situation we can give to others as God has given to us, not because we are necessarily expecting a multiplied return, even if that does often happen. (See David's Doodlings)
So for 2002 I would like to wish both of us contentment and peace in God, resting in His goodness, irrespective of circumstances, with the ability to be a blessing to others, as we ourselves have been blessed.
A 'prosperous' New Year to you and yours from Kathy and myself.

FROM THE WORD
"There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience. For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. (Hebrews 4:9-13)"To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy - to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen." (Jude 24-25)

DAVID'S DOODLINGS
The first new saying in the foolish, wise and godly (wo)man series for a long time. Visit the website to see the others.*** A foolish (wo)man keeps all he has for himself. A wise (wo)man gives, expecting the blessing to be returned. But a godly (wo)man gives, simply to bless God.
*** Giving in the expectation of receiving a multiplied return, is an investment, not a gift.

My friend whispered back confidentially, “I’m in the Secret Service.”

Our role is to bless and encourage those in ministry while promoting co-operation and unity of direction amongst the body of Christ, as emphasised 3 times by Jesus in His longest prayer, immediately prior to His arrest and crucifixion. "… so that they may be one as we are one." (John 17:12, 21, 23-4) Our website is currently being developed to encourage your participation one with another, to share resources, and to enable you to promote events and items of interest to the body as a whole – and have a smile while doing it!
