WHO WILL DARE TO BE A DISCIPLE? (Part 8)
WHOSE DISCIPLE ARE YOU?A. DISCIPLE OF THE CHURCH, DENOMINATION, PASTOR, LEADER, TV PREACHER......
The traditional church system, in existence since the formation of the Roman Catholic Church, is structured on a hierarchical basis. Whether a large denomination or a small independent church, the pattern is basically similar, irrespective of church type.
The pastor or leader provides the vision, and the role of those working in and attending the church is to help fulfill his or her vision.
The church reaches out into the world in order to get converts primarily to bring back into the 'church fortress'.
The church members are disciples of the head of the church.
The kingdom church, on the other hand is focused upon the greatest commandment.....
36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?†37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.†(Matthew 22:26-30)
As can be seen in the diagram of the sunflower, GOD is at the centre of the church. The petals are all the leaders and people. All are one, but with different roles. There are no tiles or positions. The thick black lines represent the interactions between the people and God, and with each other.
Meetings will be RELATIONAL, rather than formal, being led by the the Holy Spirit, rather than planned by man. Of course these will appear to be disorganized to many, but not to God. People meeting and sharing with each other! People seeking God for themselves, rather than through the man or woman up the front! Guided, but not controlled by, those with the ministry gifts of pastor, teacher, evangelist, prophet and apostle. Ministry is therefore RELATIONAL, NOT RELIGIOUS.
The role of the ministry gifts is not to have the people fulfill the minister's vision but to guide the people towards maturity, that is to become DISCIPLES OF JESUS, and to help them seek enact their own God given visions, as it says in Ephesians.....
11 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. (Ephesians 4:11-13)
The people are to be trained to go out into the world to minister to build DISCIPLES, not primarily to bring people back into the church.....
The Great Commission
16Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.†(Matthew 28:16-20)
It is a new church, focused upon the guidance of the Holy Spirit, meeting the needs of people, and then sending them out into the world. It is a completely unselfish 'church', where the needs of God and others are put ahead of the ambitions of the pastoral team.
Disciples led by God, training and assisting others to become disciples. to move into their ministry, be it inside or outside of the fellowship, as God anoints and guides.
What a revolution! Exciting and scary, all rolled up into one! But the kingdom is coming, as has been prayed billions of times throughout church history in the Lord's (Disciples) Prayer.....
your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. (Matthew)
The church members are disciples of Jesus, going forth to disciple the world
Will you dare to be a disciple? I will.
(Continued next week)
FROM THE WORD
THE WORDS OF JESUSMay we hear what the Lord is saying to us.
The Young Jesus at the Temple (Luke 2:41-52)
To His parents looking for Him, Jesus said.
“Why is it that you were looking for me?†“Didn’t you know I should be here in my father’s house?â€
John Baptizes Jesus (Matthew 3:13-17, Mark 1:9-11, Luke 3:21-3, John 1:33-4)
John protests.
“Please do so, because it’s good for us to do what God says is right,â€
Temptation of Jesus (Matthew 4:1-11, Mark 1:12-13, Luke 4:1-13)
By satan in the desert.
“As Scripture says, ‘Human beings do not live by only eating bread, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.â€
“As Scripture also says, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’â€
“Go away, Satan!†said Jesus. “As Scripture says, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God and serve him, and him alone.’â€

372. 'HEBLISH'
Old Simpson, a stubborn opponent of changing anything, was a constant thorn in the side of the Parent-Teachers Association. For one thing, he was loudly against the introduction of foreign languages in the town's junior high school curriculum.
Waving his Bible high in the air, he shouted, "If English was good enough for the prophets and the apostles, it's plenty good enough for me."
371. THANK GOD I'M AN ATHIEST!
T'was the night before Christmas and all through the house, Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. The stockings were hung by the chimney with care. They'd been worn all week long and they needed the air!
370. SOME EVIL
A lady had been teaching her three-year-old daughter the Lord's Prayer. For several evenings at bedtime the girl repeated it after her. One night the three-year old said she was ready to solo. The lady listened with pride as she carefully enunciated each word, right up to the end of the prayer.
"And lead us not into temptation," she prayed, "but deliver us some e-mail."

FACTS FOR FUN
LAST WEEKS QUESTION: Is there really such a thing as a flea circus?ANSWER: Yes, flea circuses first appeared in Europe in the 1820s and featured such spectacular diversions as the re-enactment of Napoleon's defeat at Waterloo. They – but not their fleas - died out sometime in the middle of the last century. Trainers use the fleas' natural responses to stimuli to encourage them to jump and move around and even pull props. Of course, the performers are tiny, so a magnifying glass is necessary for a good view. (‘Flea bitten’ trainers?)

364. BLINK or BLINK BLINK
Women blink nearly twice as much as men. (Men cause this, women say.)
365. DOGS AND US
Dogs and humans are the only animals that have prostates. (Is this because dogs prostrate themselves before humans?)
366. NO MENTION
In some islands of the Philippines, it is forbidden to mention the name of anyone living. (A real killer for gossips!)

301. COPYRIGHT EXPLAINEDWhen you write copy you have the right to copyright the copy you write, if the copy is right. If however, your copy falls over, you must right your copy. If you write religious services you write rite, and have the right to copyright the rite you write.
Very conservative people write right copy, and have the right to copyright the right copy they write. A right wing cleric would write right rite, and has the right to copyright the right rite he has the right to write. His editor has the job of making the right rite copy right before the copyright can be right.
Should Jim Wright decide to write right rite, then Wright would write right rite, which Wright has the right to copyright. Duplicating that rite would copy Wright right rite, and violate copyright, which Wright would have the right to right.

300. PHEW!

299. CAUGHT OUT
Ernie had an awful day fishing, sitting on the lake all day without a single bite. On his way home, he stopped at the supermarket and ordered four walleye. He told the fish salesman, "Pick out the four largest ones and throw them at me, will you?" "Ok. But, why do you want me to throw them at you?" "Because I want to tell my wife that I caught them."
298. FOREIGN LANGUAGE
Two friends lived in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. They were sick of winter, so they went to a travel agent and booked a trip to Australia.
When the two friends got off the plane - still dressed for Canadian winter weather - they wandered into a pub and sat down. The locals wondered about these strangers, so one of the Aussies walked over to the visitors and said, "G'day, mates. Where're you from?"
"Saskatoon, Saskatchewan," one of the Canadians replied.
"Ahhhh," said the Aussie, returning to his table.
"So where are they from?" the other locals asked.
"Don't know, mate," replied the Aussie. "They don't speak English."
297. GETTING READY
During the Super Bowl, there was another football game of note between the big animals and the small animals. The big animals were crushing small animals and at half-time, the coach made a passionate speech to rally the little animals.
At the start of the second half the big animals had the ball. The first play, the elephant got stopped for no gain. The second play, the rhino was stopped for
no gain. On third down, the hippo was thrown for a 5 yard loss.
The defense huddled around the coach and he asked excitedly, "Who stopped the elephant?"
"I did," said the centipede.
"Who stopped the rhino?"
"Uh, that was me too," said the centipede.
"And how about the hippo? Who hit him for a 5 yard loss?"
"Well, that was me as well," said the centipede.
"So where were you during the first half?" demanded the coach.
"Well," said the centipede, "I was having my ankles taped."

New Age Writer-Turned-Born-Again Christian Steven Bancarz Exposes Demonic Deception of the Occult - Part 1
After a series of events — including an incident where he hurt someone he deeply loved — his brokenness precipitated in the recognition that his New Age beliefs and the meditation practices he was doing had yielded no good fruit. All the knowledge about people, God, human emotions and relationships that he thought he understood proved to be false and futile."I was an absolute wreck," Bancarz said, "a slave to my psychological programs."
In a moment of desperation where he realized how wrong he was, he was moved to fall on his face and cry out to God.
"Every ounce of my strength was ground to nothing, and I said 'OK, that's it. I'm done. I'm done playing games, God. I just want you. Jesus, I want you in your fullness.' ... And that's when I just fell at His feet," he recalls.
As he repented, there, on the back deck of his house, the living God answered him and a supernatural peace that transcended anything he'd ever experienced saturated him in the fullness of God's love and forgiveness.
To further walk out his repentance, Bancarz shut down his latest project for his website that could have made him thousands of dollars in passive income, promptly sold his house, and deliberately sought to formally renounce his New Age beliefs.
God providentially led him to a local Pentecostal church where a seasoned prayer minister led him through a process of deliverance wherein he broke every agreement he had made with every occult philosophy he had ever subscribed to while in the New Age movement. As the evil spirits left him he became dizzy and started breathing heavily, feeling like he was going to pass out. At one point he even felt paralyzed from his elbows down to his wrists and hands, which made him realize the severity of the darkness in which he had been steeped.
Because believing Christians struggle to wrap their heads around these kinds of things and sometimes even dismiss the reality of the demonic as psychosomatic silliness, CP asked why there seems to be a breakdown of understanding in the West about these distinctly spiritual phenomena.
"I think what some of it might have to do with is the way Christianity has either been misrepresented or the way Christianity has been malpracticed," Bancarz offered. "What we seem to have, from my background at least, is a very cookie cutter, conservative, and dry religious system. And that's the way it is perceived from the outside world."
Much of the Western Church has largely forgotten the third person of the Trinity.
"What I have observed from dealing with people in the New Age movement," Bancarz adds, "is that there are a lot of people who when you say the words 'Holy Spirit' they ask 'What is that?' Everyone thinks that [Christians] believe in a certain set of facts. When really there's an entire dimension to it which is the ministry of the Holy Spirit that I think secular culture has done a good job of pulling a veil over the eyes of people to dilute Christianity down to nothing more than a religious system, when what it really is that you're interacting with the presence of living God."
Many spiritually hungry people are drawn to counterfeit spirits and false teaching in pursuit of something more.
"In a materialistic, 9-to-5 world where everything is pre-ordained and planned, people are thirsty," he asserted.
But the good news is that the Holy Spirit is the real thing and what the enemy meant in Bancarz's life for evil, God is now employing for the advance of His Kingdom.
Although he did not complete his university studies, Bancarz has a philosophy background and sees his critical thinking abilities and knowledge base as something God will now use to dismantle the deceptive mindsets and pagan spiritualism, including the variations of Universalism one might likely see on an episode of Oprah's "Super Soul Sunday."
"God is giving me the discerning of spirits to be able to rightly judge what material and what spirits are not of God, and to show me how to best expose them," Bancarz said. "For those who claim to be Christians who are involved in 'new' spirituality or stuff that's just straight up esoteric, I think the best thing to do is to remember that there is an objective standard for authority by which to measure the correctness of these things."
"And that [standard] is the Words of Jesus Christ Himself and the words of the Apostles themselves."
"Until Deepak Chopra or any of the 13 Dalai Lamas resurrect from the dead, Jesus Christ is the authority on everything from the afterlife, to how to live a healthy spiritual life," he continued. "So we should get our opinions from someone who has actually proven Himself to hold the keys of truth and who has actually had the stamp of approval put on Him by God through His resurrection. And so we need to lean not on our own understanding but on the understanding of the Lord."
Christians must "hold everything up to the light of Scripture because all Scripture is God-breathed," he added.
Bancarz emphasized to CP that the most important thing for people to know is that God is truly knowable and we can come into a personal relationship with him that is supernatural, and his presence is tangible.
"The minute that we encounter the living, breathing presence of the Holy Spirit everything changes. And I would encourage people to pursue that, to pursue God in His fullness and to seek Jesus as He really is rather than who we want Him to be. The minute that we do that it is His promise in scripture that He will make Himself known to us. ... You don't need a certain level of intelligence, you don't need to be in a certain state of consciousness, you don't need a certain level of knowledge, all you need is a heart that hungers for the reality of God. And Jesus is the real deal."
Bancarz's new website, Exposing the New Age, is a Christian apologetics resource hub specifically aimed at derailing New Age and other occult deceptions as well as debunking false claims made about Jesus Christ.

A little fun about a real ‘mans’ problem!‘GRUTS’
A man’s underwear is a most sensitive subject,
Not normally approached in a manner so direct!
But is a most important part of a man’s life you see,
A topic worth exploring, just between you and me.
For a mans ‘gruts’ have new psychological implications,
Likely to be the cause of an outbreak of bad relations,
In an otherwise, very happy marriage you see,
As a man’s underwear, reflects his personality.
Now this hasn’t always been the case,
For in earlier days of the human race,
There was only one kind available to the Kiwi male,
White ‘Jockeys’ with ‘Y’ fronts, in which to set sail.
I readily admit now, to a phobia of my young life,
For their lack of support, would see me in strife.
To a grown man, a real problem they must have been,
To me as a growing lad, in my thinking, it did seem.
But the ‘Jockeys’ did have one advantage,
To Grandmothers, who never seemed to age,
The right size was all they ever needed to know,
When Christmas shopping, they decided to go!
Sad to say, this well depicted the age,
When conformity, was all the Kiwi rage,
Even though the nations ‘Jockeys’ you could not see,
You knew for sure, all men had a certain similarity!
‘Hanes’ came along with ‘Jockey’ to compete,
Their fit was much better, but far from replete,
And of course, they were still the standard white,
So no man, about his underpants, was able to skite.
But times did change, as they are wont to do,
No longer was fashion restricted to the shoe,
Coloured shirts then, made an appearance,
Providing us men, with a further dalliance.
But the fashion designers were still not content,
To their fertile brains, new perspective was lent,
Or maybe, they could remember their youth too,
A more comfortable alternative was now in view.
To us practical men, comfort is always the most important.
So after decades of ‘Jockeys’, over which to rave and rant,
Now had come a real choice for men to wear,
That they were coloured too, we did not care.
The designers now clapped their hands, in great glee,
For no longer were underpants, simply a commodity.
For now colour and style had been introduced,
To the range available, we were soon seduced.
Poor Grandma now, when she is wont to shop,
For birthday or Christmas presents, has to stop
Buying the old faithful underpants, ever so true,
For she doesn’t know now, which style suits you.
To grandsons this is a most desirable revolution,
As we had feared grannies presents with a passion.
Although we said thank you, and gave her a big kiss,
We are now so grateful, those old ‘Jockeys’ to miss!
Life has become more complicated for men to live,
Colour, style, different sizes, something has to give!
So now when it comes round to clothes shopping,
A man too, has to take his time, forever stopping!
But even more difficult than this, it would now seem,
Is the image we portray, enough to make one scream,
For to look right in the lockers of the gym,
They must portray the right image of him.
I have to admit to once being an underwear skinflint,
The cheapest pair would always do, whatever the tint.
Until I was given a more comfortable pair,
A little more expensive, but I no longer care!
Now I know that our God doesn’t mind the underwear we wear,
Whether we call them ‘daks’ or ‘gruts’, He surely doesn’t care,
For his eyes penetrate far more than skin deep,
So over our underpants, we are not to lose sleep!

There are a couple of changes in PGIM this week, in order to improve things. Changes that have but put off 'until I get a 'roundtuit', or until I get time!Well I have now got a 'roudtuit' by making the time available!
Isn't that how life so often works? We put off until tomorrow what we should do today! It is particularly so in our spiritual walk with Jesus! We get comfortable where we are, and reluctant to take the risks inherent in change. Time goes on and we stagnate.
God demands continual change in our lives in order to become more like Jesus.
How like Jesus are you today? Change necessary? Both me and you!
Well - let's do it now!
Until next week.......
MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOU BLESS GOD.
His servant and yours
