A MATTER OF TIME
When you are shifting house, you initially think you have plenty of time to get things done. You feel so well organised. Then as the day gets closer and there is still heaps to do, you wonder where all the time and planning disappeared to! We are about at that stage now, as we are shifting in 5 days time! Gave the inspiration for this ditty though, so it can't be all bad!A MATTER OF TIME
Isn’t time such a wonderful thing,
Seemingly as long as a piece of string.
Not knowing where it begins, or is likely to end,
With so much of it, you can give some to a friend.
In the bright sparkle of youth,
It’s never ending, ’tis the truth!
So much to do, but with all the time in the world,
No hurry to use it! In bed we lie, snugly curled.
Then comes along the responsibilities of life,
Now it’s time to settle down with the wife.
Still the time ahead, it seems so great,
To be lovingly shared, now with a mate.
But soon comes along the patter of little feet,
And suddenly, time is no longer in surfeit!
For now there just are too few hours in the day,
To do all your work, no longer time to play.
The family grows up,
With a cat and a pup.
Then all of a sudden they are leaving home,
For now it’s their turn, the world to roam.
Where did all the years dash?
Disappeared now in a flash!
Yes, time it truly does you con,
Once so much, now all gone.
Then it’s time to do all the things we desire,
As time passes, from our work we may now retire.
But while the mind is willing, the body’s now weak,
For old man time, havoc on our person does wreak.
So the moral of the story, both for woman and man,
Is to use every minute in the best way we can.
For all too soon, time comes to an end,
Then to heaven or hell, it does us send.

FROM THE WORD
A sluggard does not plow in season; so at harvest time he looks but finds nothing.(Proverbs 20:4)
" "At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish and five were wise. The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. The wise, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep. “At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’ “Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.’ ”‘No,’ they replied, ‘there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’ “But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut. “Later the others also came. ‘Sir! Sir!’ they said. ‘Open the door for us!’ “But he replied, ‘I tell you the truth, I don’t know you.’ “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour." (Matthew 25:1-13)
DAVID'S DOODLINGS
!!! Time is an illusion. At first it appears plentiful, but suddenly disappears into thin air.!!! Let’s not think, “if only I had time,” but rather how best to use, “the only time I have.”
!!! Life and time are inversely proportional. The older and slower we get, the faster time goes.
!!! What is the one thing that cannot be stored for future use? Time.
!!! Time is like the air we breathe. We don't appreciate it until it runs out!
!!! Time is an irresistible force - until it meets that irresistible object called 'death.'
!!! Isn't it time we took control of time?
!!! The world's greatest motivator has always been, and remains, the 'last minute.'!
!!! Man has conquered space but never, the curse of time.
!!! It is amazing how quickly our tomorrows become yesterdays.
!!! The one event we can't control in our lives, is the moment the first becomes the last!

YES, THE MOON IS MADE OF CHEESE!!!!!!!
A readers contribution about last weeks leading article and the comment about Neil Armstrong discovering that the moon is not made of cheese. Apparently not necessary.....Hi David
Just read PGIM - and reading your thoughts about Neil Armstrong and discovering that the moon wasn't made of cheese.
The Bible has always said so anyway - read Genesis 1 in King James Version.
God made the lesser light (Moon) to rule the night .... and evening and morning were the fourth day.
.. and God made cattle ... and evening and morning were the sixth day.
God made the moon two days before He made cows from which we get milk and so cheese.
The Moon was made two days before cheese!
The Bible has the answers without spending all that money for Neil to find out!

LAUGHING AT OURSELVES
***Blessed are those who can laugh at themselves for they shall never cease to be amused***ACTS 2:38
An elderly woman had just returned to her home from an evening service when she was startled by an intruder. As she caught the man in the act of robbing her home of its valuables, she yelled "Stop, Acts 2:38".
The burglar quickly turned around and pointed his gun at her when she yelled again "Stop, Acts 2:38".
Well this time the man stopped, dead in his tracks. The woman calmly called the Police and explained what she had done. As the Officer cuffed the man to take him in, he asked him "Why did you just stand there? All the old lady did was yell a Scripture to you."
"Scripture?" the burglar exclaimed, "I thought she said she had an AX and 2 38s."

FACTS FOR FUN
LAST WEEKS QUESTION: Is it true that hair and nails continue to grow after death?ANSWER: No, they only seem to. What happens is the body dries out after death and the skin recedes from the hair and nails, making it APPEAR as if they are longer. In fact, even though hair is not technically "living," hair and nail cells still need to be
nourished by blood in order to grow.
THIS WEEK'S QUESTION: From where does the saying "Hobson's Choice" originate?
Answer Next Week.
SOME FUN FACTS
A SHOW OF INDEPENDENCE?
Only two people signed the Declaration of Independence on July 4th, John Hancock and Charles Thomson. Most of the rest signed on August 2, but the last signature wasn't added until 5 years later. (An independent spirit dies hard – look at America today!)
TUNELESS
About half the pianos in England are thought to be out of tune. (explains the quality of singing at their football matches!)
BEEN FIRED?
Clans of long ago that wanted to get rid of their unwanted people without killing them used to burn their houses down - hence the expression "to get fired." (And probably ‘to come to a fiery end.’)

WALKING WITH JESUS COURSEA 3-part course of understanding based on Revelation 12:11. An easily understood, practical series on living the Christian life today. Compiled in 1993-4, the 3 studies, each accompanied by 6 hours of tapes, have been used by over 10,000 New Zealanders plus many overseas, to gain an increased understanding of what ‘walking with Jesus’ is all about. Is useful for enquirers, new Christians and particularly, those seeking an extra dimension to their faith. Ideal for home groups and church teaching sessions too. A non-denominational course, it is supported by Christians from diverse backgrounds. The 3 parts cover
1. The Way of Salvation: Finding Jesus as your personal Saviour.
2. Life Through the Spirit: Christian living through the teaching
of Jesus and in the power of the Holy Spirit.
3. Jesus is Lord: Living our lives for Jesus.
So if you desire a deeper relationship with your God, this can help point you in the right direction. You still have to make the effort though! Can’t do that for you!

A DAVID MUSING
As we come to leave Tauranga, where we have lived for the last 13 years, many people are so kindly putting on farewells and saying such nice things about us. Set me musing! For so often, it seems, we save our nice comments about our friends until they are passing on. Either with finality to the next life (my theology says that we can't hear the eulogies at our funerals, which is a pity! May not recognise the person though!) or to another earthly location.
For Kathy and I, who have travelled round a little, this is not too bad, but for many other faithful people who stay in a single location throughout their lives, their funeral is likely to be their one and only tribute.
Maybe we should tell others how much we appreciate them on a more regular basis. It would gladden both their hearts and our own and surely make the world a happier place. Now could just be a great time to start!

Our role is to bless and encourage those in ministry while promoting co-operation and unity of direction amongst the body of Christ, as emphasised 3 times by Jesus in His longest prayer, immediately prior to His arrest and crucifixion. "… so that they may be one as we are one." (John 17:12, 21, 23-4) Our website is currently being developed to encourage your participation one with another, to share resources, and to enable you to promote events and items of interest to the body as a whole – and have a smile while doing it!
