JESUS TALKS ABOUT THE KINGDOM (Kingdom mentions in the Gospels)
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ (Matthew 7:21-3)These are some of the most perturbing statements of Jesus! Particularly to those in ministry - that is, of course, ALL of us!
How is it possible? How can it be?
How can we say or preach one thing and do another? Well, easily, actually! Whether we preach from a pulpit or simply share Jesus with another, we have all been guilty, to one extent or another, of fitting the statement, 'do what I say, not what I do'.
I would like to change this a little, to fit the religious realm. 'Do not follow what I believe, but what I say I believe.'
So what do we look for in those we follow? Oops! Here is our first mistake! We should not follow any person, only Jesus! However, we do have leaders who provide us with guidance. Jesus gave us the answer.....
15 “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them. (Matthew 7:15-20)
In the West, we naturally think that anyone who exhibits spiritual gifts is blessed with them by God.
However, when you travel to Africa, you quickly see that, along with the greater presence of the Holy Spirit, there are equal and opposite evil spirits operating, which can produce prophecies, signs and wonders also. For, in the spiritual, there is always balance. Sadly, there are a good (bad actually!) number of people empowered by evil, while masquerading as good, operating in the church there.
I have experienced some of these people personally. Yet amazingly, the Holy Spirit can also work in their midst to bless the people also. So, it is not always easy to discern. And we are easily fooled.
In case you think this is all a figment of my imagination, I quote.....
9 The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, 10 and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11 For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie 12 and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness. (2 Thessalonians 2:6-12)
These influences are operating in the Western church also. In these latter times the Lord is exposing more and more of them. A classic and extreme example is Jim Jones, who will be remembered for the Murder of 900+ people in Jonestown Guyana. Wikipedia says....
This frustration, among other things, provoked a seminal moment for Jones in which he asked himself "how can I demonstrate my Marxism? The thought was, infiltrate the church."[12][13]
Jones' interest in religion began during his childhood, primarily because he found making friends difficult, though initially he vacillated on his church of choice.[4] Jones was surprised when a Methodist superintendent helped him to get a start in the church even though he knew Jones to be a communist and Jones did not meet him through the American Communist Party.[14] In 1952, Jones became a student pastor in Sommerset Southside Methodist Church, but left that church because its leaders barred him from integrating blacks into his congregation.[12] Around this time, Jones witnessed a faith-healing service at the Seventh Day Baptist Church.[12] He observed that it attracted people and their money and concluded that, with financial resources from such healings, he could help accomplish his social goals.[12]
Jones then began his own church, which changed names until it became the Peoples Temple Christian Church Full Gospel. (Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Jones)
While he is an obvious case, there are many others too who are 'ministering' under the wrong spirit.
In the last days too, there will be greater move of both the Holy Spirit.....
The Day of the Lord
28 ‘And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. 29 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days. (Joel 2:28-9)
and evil spirits.....
6 And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time. 7 For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. (2 Thessalonians 2:6-7)
It is interesting that many more are being exposed in these days than in earlier times. We indeed, live in the last days!
Yet we must never forget that we, as the true followers of Jesus, are on the winning side!
8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming. (2 Thessalonians 2:8)
Hallelujah! In the meantime, may the Lord give us the gift of discernment of the spirits at work in the world.

FROM THE WORD
A Tree and Its Fruit"“Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them. “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’" (Matthew 7:15-23)
The Man of Lawlessness
"Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers, not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by some prophecy, report or letter supposed to have come from us, saying that the day of the Lord has already come. Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God. Don’t you remember that when I was with you I used to tell you these things? And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time. For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming. The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.
Stand Firm
But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because from the beginning God chose you to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth. He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter. May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word." (2 Thessalonians 2:1-17)

LAUGHING AT OURSELVES
***Blessed are those who can laugh at themselves for they shall never cease to be amused****** "Those who can't laugh at themselves leave the job to others." ***
322. THEIF
There is the story of a minister in a small town who was having trouble with his offering collections.
So one Sunday he announced from the pulpit: "Before we pass the collection plate, I would like to request that the person who stole the chickens from Brother Smith's hen house please refrain from giving any money to the Lord. The Lord doesn't want money from a thief."
The collection plate was passed around, and for the first time in many months everybody put something in.
321. THE RIGHT PRAYER
Two "saints" were discussing which one of them was more 'spiritual'.
"Huh," says the first, "why I'll bet you $20 you can't even repeat the Lord's prayer."
"You're on," says the second. He clears his throat and starts in. "Now I lay me down to sleep I pray the Lord my soul to keep, if I should die before I wake I pray the Lord my soul to take."
The first guy is incredulous. "Wow, I didn't think you could do it. Here's your $20."
320. GOD'S GRADE
A sophmore taking a test in Bible School was not well prepared for the exam. At one point over a particularly esoteric phrasing of a question, he wrote, "ONLY GOD KNOWS!" for his answer.
Later when he got his paper back, there written in RED was this comment, "God gets an "A", you get an "F".

FACTS FOR FUN
LAST WEEKS QUESTION: What is a Welsh rabbit?ANSWER: Welsh rabbit (also called Welsh rarebit) isn’t an animal at all. It's melted cheese on toast or crackers. It was called this so peasants could imagine themselves eating real rabbit -- or at least make fun of the fact that they couldn't afford it. The name originated in an era when only the Welsh nobility could hunt rabbits. The poor peasants had to melt cheese on toast and simply call it ‘rabbit’. (Unable to acquire the habit of eating rabbit.)
THIS WEEK'S QUESTION: Where did the term ‘private eye’ originate?
Answer Next Week.
88. A GREAT WAY TO GO
If you are afraid that you might die laughing — you are suffering from cherophobia. (Too many take this too seriously and have almost no chance of dying in this way!)
89. LASTING DAMAGE
A simple, moderately severe sunburn damages blood vessels to such an extent that it takes four to fifteen months for them to return to their normal condition. (What about multiple doses?)
90. NAME CHANGE
Chief Sitting Bull was originally named ‘Jumping Badger.’ Among some American Indian tribes, it was customary to give new-born males temporary names. The names were changed later, as the boys developed character and showed courage in manhood. (Was he badgered about sitting once too often?)

342. FULL SERVICE STOP
A guy comes into a coffee shop and places his order: "I want 3 flat tires & a pair of headlights".
The waitress, not wanting to appear stupid, goes to the kitchen & asks the cook, "This guy out there just ordered 3 flat tires & a pair of headlights. What does he think, this is an auto parts store?!"
"No," the cook says, "3 flat tires means 3 pancakes & a pair of headlights is 2 eggs sunny side up."
"Oh," says the waitress. She thinks about this and then she spoons up a bowl of beans and gives it to the customer.
The guy says "What are the beans for?"
The waitress replies "I thought that, while you're waiting for the flat tires & headlights, you might want to gas up."
341. THE TRAIN TICKET
Three women and three men are traveling by train to the Super Bowl.
At the station, the three men each buy a ticket and watch as the three women buy just one ticket.
"How are the three of you going to travel on only one ticket?" asks one of the men.
"Watch and learn," answers one of the women.
They all board the train. The three men take their respective seats but all three women cram into a toilet together and close the door.
Shortly after the train has departed, the conductor comes around collecting tickets. He knocks on the toilet door and says, "Ticket, please."
The door opens just a crack, and a single arm emerges with a ticket in hand.
The conductor takes it and moves on.
The men see this happen and agree it was quite a clever idea; so, after the game, they decide to do the same thing on the return trip and save some money.
When they get to the station they buy a single ticket for the return trip but see, to their astonishment, that the three women don't buy any ticket at all!!
"How are you going to travel without a ticket?" says one perplexed man.
"Watch and learn," answer the women.
When they board the train, the three men cram themselves into a toilet, and the three women cram into another toilet just down the way.
Shortly after the train is on its way, one of the women leaves her toilet and walks over to the toilet in which the men are hiding.
The woman knocks on their door and says, "Ticket, please."

Missionary Recounts Haitian Jail Ordeal
by Efrem Graham, CBN NewsBRADENTON, FL - The city of Bradenton, Florida, is located 800 miles from Haiti. But it is a world away from the confines of the Haitian prison in the city of Jacmel, where a judge had Christian missionary Danny Pye incarcerated in October of 2010.
There has been no legal explanation for his confinement.
LOCKED UP, NO CHARGES
Pye and his family have lived in Haiti for seven years. He and his wife, Leann, run an orphanage that cares for 22 children. On October 13, 2010, they had gone to court to handle paperwork for some ministry property. When examined later, the paperwork revealed Pye was arrested for being in contempt of court. However, he had done nothing to justify the charge.
In the end, Pye spent five months and two days locked up in a 10 by 12-foot jail cell. He shared the tiny space with 27 other inmates.
A judge finally released him from the prison on March 15, 2011.
RECALLING HIS ORDEAL
Just days after the release, Pye spoke with CBN News in Bradenton for his first extensive interview about his confinement and eventual release.
"In the beginning, I think I embraced prison pretty well because, actually in arrogance, I believed as an American, how long could they hold me?" Pye said. "I mean I am not a criminal. I didn't commit a crime. I did not hurt anybody. So I assumed five days, maybe seven days."
There were convicted murders, rapists and even goat thieves in the cell with Pye. But as he formed friendships with the inmates, he soon learned there were also many like him — behind bars with no explanation, locked up by the same judge.
"That is what began the fear to arise because there were people there for six years that have never been convicted of a crime," he explained.
FEAR GROWS AS MONTHS PASS
Pye's fear grew with news of what was happening inside and outside the jail — the deadly cholera outbreak in October, the floods of Hurricane Thomas in November, and the prison breaks in December that followed the presidential elections.
He also witnessed guards beating inmates to death.
"I have been tased and I have been shoved and pushed. But I have never been beaten to the level they were beaten that day," the missionary said as he recalled his jail experiences.
Pye's wife Leann told CBN News of the hardships she had to face during the time her husband was in the Haitian jail.
"Danny being in prison has been the hardest thing I have ever had to go through," she said.
Leann was left to run the orphanage alone, prepare to give birth to their second child, and to fight for her husband's release.
"Around the middle of his incarceration, I stopped giving him details of all the rabbit trails that I would run because, when it didn't work out, there is just a lot of pain when hope dies," she explained.
"There were a lot of moments of helplessness, of just wondering what the purpose was and why me and why am I going through this?" Pye recalled.
At even his lowest points, the missionary says he found comfort sharing the gospel with his cell mates.
"Men that were hard killers were on their knees in tears, on the ground, crying out for salvation," Pye said.
He would later find himself in tears while reading the letters his wife delivered almost daily from the children at their orphanage. When guards blocked those letters, she would bring him food and write the messages on the foil wrapping.
NEWS OF IMPRISONMENT REACHES US
The news of Pye's imprisonment reached more people in the United States in February after his wife returned to Bradenton to have their son. She hated leaving Haiti, because she felt like she was deserting her husband. He would have no one to bring him letters and no one to make routine trips to court to beg for his release.
"Having to go on that plane was the hardest thing I ever had to do because it felt like no one was going to push. No one was going to be there," Leann said.
But as the word spread, believers began to fast, pray, and lobby politicians for help. Their cry eventually connected a prominent Haitian attorney with the American Center for Law and Justice in Washington, DC.
Working together, the attorneys negotiated Pye's release at no cost for their clients.
"It was all very quick. We thought that release was going to happen every week for five months and then all of a sudden it happens," Pye told CBN News.
Still, he didn't quite believe it. Until he was on a plane headed for Florida on March 17th to join his wife and four year-old daughter. He arrived just in time as Leann gave birth to their son Joseph two days later.
WILL RETURN TO HAITI SOON
It was a happy reunion in the US. However, the Pyes say their family will not be complete until they are all back in Haiti.
"We made a promise to 22 kids that we were going to be their mom and dad until they get though high school and they are ready to be adults. And we don't plan on breaking that promise," Pye said.
The family is waiting for baby Joseph's passport to be issued. Then, they will be heading back to the rest of their children in Haiti.

WAXING LYRICAL
As did King David and the other psalmists, we all go through ups and downs in life. This explains one of my harder downs, having been rejected by friends, followed by an up!A PSALM
Of David (Tait)
A cry of despair, trust and victory, during a time of difficulty in life.
Peering through the gloom,
All one can see is doom.
Mind in a place now, that can only see the worst,
No more, through the clouds, does the sun burst.
O Lord, my Lord, how did I miss your will!
Where are you Lord, my void to fill?
My God, My God, you seem so far away,
I so need you Lord, in my life today.
Together we did map out the road ahead,
Started on the journey, as I was led.
Travelled nicely along, until coming to a sharp bend,
Around the corner - suddenly - the road came to an end.
I screeched to a halt!
Hit by a thunderbolt!
My God, My God, this wasn't in the plan,
Is my way of you, or simply, my own man?
Those wise after the event say,
"We knew it would never work."
You should have said so yesterday!
Not stab me now, with my dirk!
Where can I hide?
Lost in my pride!
Hate being wrong!
It's not my song!
With back so sore, I'm hurt and dejected,
Did it helping those, who me rejected!
Life's a misery, that much I know,
To whom can I turn, where can I go!
But in you Lord, I put all my trust,
Without you, I am nothing but dust.
For Lord, You've always proved faithful to me,
Again, show me Your way Lord, help me to see.
The phone rings, once, twice, thrice,
An encouragement? That would be nice!
The voice on the phone settles my ruction,
By giving to me, a brand new introduction.
Back on the road, I see a mighty big change,
Where the road did end, is now an exchange,
A super-highway has been put into place,
I am back again, now running my race.
Your vision Lord, is much greater than mine,
Not surprising really, for You are divine!
As the Good Book says, Your ways are not my ways,
May I follow your path, through all my days.
For you Lord, know the road ahead,
Without you, I'm as good as dead.
I trust you with my life, my Master,
For you deliver me from disaster.
Forevermore I place my hands in Yours,
Lead me Lord, to fulfil your cause.

A DAVID MUSING
This week we learned that our main, and dominant, competitor in the second hand clothing market, had purchased the building from which our Seekers Head Office and largest store operates! While they have said that they would like us to stay, it does not seem to be wise to have your competition able to determine ones tenancy.
Interestingly, the day before, at lunchtime, I went home to spend some time with the Lord and asked Him to show me if we should stay in the out of the way building where we set up 3 1/2 years ago and have been successful. Or to shift to a more expensive but more central location. He answered me in less than a day! And in a completely unexpected way! For our God has a great sense of humour! He certainly got my attention!
So often we forget to ask God! We rack our brains for answers to our problems, often to no avail. He may well just step to one side, watch our human efforts with a wry smile, until we reach the end of ourselves and reach out to Him.
Getting desperate enough was how I came to Him in the first place, and how, in the many ups and downs of life, He has so often caught my attention since. May I, may you, learn today how to save the pain of indecision, by asking Him in the first place. We are slow learners, aren't we!
PS: (From last week) Now, how about the semi-finals (against Sri Lanka) and finals, for the Black Caps.....!!! Well......!!! Maybe miracles will cease!!! Me of little faith!!! My lack of faith was justified - we lost - but maybe...... had my faith had been greater!!! (LOL)
PPS: India won an enthralling final on Saturday, beating Sri Lanka in a close game.
Until next week.......
MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOU BLESS GOD.
