LORD - HELP ME!
Now's the time when you are feeling low,All your effort, with so little to show.
When life is getting on top of you,
God's Word doesn't seem true.
You're looking for a boost,
Chickens home to roost!
Nothing's working,
Life so hurting!
Indescribable!
Unbearable!
"Hey!
Pray!"
"Do I hear,
Voice in ear?"
"Now, listen to me,
One plus two, can be three!
If today, you will let me help you,
Your dreams, they can still come true.
When you rest your all in my gentle hand,
Your horizons, I will again, begin to expand."
Why do we ignore His advice?
Unwilling to pay the price,
Of giving all our being over to Him,
Rather let life's light, grow so dim.
Yes I'm still learning to understand,
Life, when it's placed in His hand,
Will simply, so much better be,
Than if it's only guided by me!
David Tait:.... 24 May 2004
But I'm 'oh so good' at ignoring His - and my own - advice!

GOD'S SENSE OF HUMOUR!
Last week's editorial mentioned, with the sin of pride, the good weather in Napier I was able to show to my Indian friend, Glory. Considerably better than we had experienced in Wellington! However, in order to travel the 500km to Auckland for his Monday morning flight, I had to write PGIM a day early, so we could leave on the Sunday. Last Sunday night Napier received the heaviest rain we have had for 20 years! With widespread flooding in low lying areas of the city. So when you were receiving PGIM, and reading about the good weather, Napier was actually awash!
Fortunately, Glory wasn't there to experience it! Or he would have been finally convinced that New Zealand had not yet recovered from Noah's Flood! Am sure God's in charge of the weather too - isn't He? I'm certainly not!
FROM THE WORD
" “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.â€" (Matthew 11:28-30)A SABBATH-REST FOR THE PEOPLE OF GOD
"Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it. For we also have had the gospel preached to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because those who heard did not combine it with faith. Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said, “So I declared on oath in my anger, ‘They shall never enter my rest.’â€
And yet his work has been finished since the creation of the world. For somewhere he has spoken about the seventh day in these words: “And on the seventh day God rested from all his work.†And again in the passage above he says, “They shall never enter my rest.†It still remains that some will enter that rest, and those who formerly had the gospel preached to them did not go in, because of their disobedience. Therefore God again set a certain day, calling it Today, when a long time later he spoke through David, as was said before: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.†For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience. For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account." (Hebrews 4:1-13)

DAVID'S DOODLINGS
HEALING GOD'S WAY92. Time heals slowly, love faster, while forgiveness increases the speed.
93. Forgiveness lubricates the healing that both time and love bring.
94. Time heals, love heals better, but only forgiveness heals totally.
95. He who has suffered the greatest rejection, most appreciates the comfort of God’s acceptance.
347. God's love is bigger than any human hurt.
348. The secret of inner healing is to draw nearer to God, not run away like most of us do.
349. The bigger the problem, the bigger we can discover our God is.

LAUGHING AT OURSELVES
311. RENT IN THE SKY
"Once there was a Christian, he had a pious look,
His consecration was complete except his pocketbook.
He'd go to Church and give his dollar and meekly close his eyes.
So glad his weekly rent was paid for his mansion in the skies."
310. PAINTINTG THE CHURCH
The Pastor was painting the church one Saturday to get it nice and spiffy for services on Sunday. He had two sides of the church done when he realized that he didn't have quite enough paint to finish.
Since he was many miles from where he could buy more paint and he was running out of time, he decided to thin the paint down so he'd have enough to finish the job. After finishing the third wall, he realized he had to thin the paint even more to make it stretch.
He finally finished and was standing back to admire his work when it started to rain. He watched in dismay while the paint ran down the windows and exposed the old color on the last two walls he had painted.
Just then lightening struck followed by an ear splitting clap of thunder. From the sky came a loud voice saying,
"Repaint, repaint, and thin no more."

FACTS FOR FUN
LAST WEEKS QUESTION: Why does cutting onions make us cry?ANSWER: It's not the strong smell but a substance released by the cut onion that makes you cry. Onions have an oil containing sulfur which, when you cut into one, causes the sulfur to enter your eyes in the form of a gas. When the sulfur hits the water in the tear ducts, it creates sulfuric acid, which burns and irritates the eyes.
THIS WEEK'S QUESTION: Do crocodiles really have tears?
Answer Next Week.
SOME FUN FACTS
759. SCRABBLE BAN
A local ordinance in Atwoodville, Connecticut, prohibits people from playing Scrabble while waiting for a politician to speak. (Would their minds be thinking too clearly for the politicians liking?)
760. SILKY SECRETS
For hundreds of years, the Chinese zealously guarded the secret of sericulture, with imperial law decreeing death by torture to those who dared to disclose how to make silk. (Did no-one ask the silkworms?)
761. CAR BAN
Private automobiles were forbidden on the island of Bermuda until 1948. This is one reason that there are still so many bicycles there. (Life moves on slowly in the Tropics.)

TRUE LIFE STORIES MAKE THE BEST HUMOUR
PLANE REIN?At the Olympics in Barcelona, some of the locals were entered in equestrian events. Other contestants were surprised to note that the Spanish riders guided their horses with so much slack in the reins that they actually hung down across the horses' necks.
When asked why they preferred such a relaxed stance, the locals proudly announced.......
"The reins in Spain fall plainly on the mane."
IRRESISTIBLE
The artist tried to concentrate on his work, but the attraction he felt for his model finally became irresistible. He threw down his palette, took her in his arms and kissed her.
She pushed him away. "Maybe your other models let you kiss them," she said.
"I've never tried to kiss a model before," he swore.
"Really?" she said, softening, "How many models have there been?"
"Four," he replied, "A jug, two apples, and a vase."

THERE'S A DAY ON THE WAY 24 APRIL 2005
The growth of the Internet over the last ten years has been incredible. There will soon be one billion Web users around the world. There are thousands of Christian websites, but the vast majority of these are written only for Christians. Very few are designed to reach out effectively to non-Christians. Yet the outreach potential of the Web is enormous.
The Internet Evangelism Coalition* is therefore sponsoring a new focus day on Sunday 24 April 2005, to help churches learn more about web outreach. (It is not a fund-raising focus.) The Internet Evangelism Day website offers downloadable materials that a church can use within a service or midweek meeting.
Patrick Johnstone, author of Operation World, comments "Cyberspace is an amazing medium for communicating information. What better information is there than sharing about the real meaning of life and solid hope for the future. May this Internet Evangelism Day mobilize a new wave of online evangelists."
"The Internet is one of the most key tools that God has given us in the church today," says George Verwer, founder of OM.
*Internet Evangelism Coalition is an umbrella group of evangelical agencies who are already involved in online evangelism.

A DAVID MUSING
"If I only had time," goes the famous song. Well, this week I did nearly catch up, had a little spare time, and didn't know what to do with it! How could it be!But not to worry, if I had mentioned it to Kathy, I am sure she would have found lots of jobs for me to do! So I kept quiet!
Today, Monday in New Zealand is a public holiday called Labour Day. A day to have off work! Something doesn't sound quite right here! But it celebrates the introduction of the world's first 40-hour week, right here in New Zealand. Since then, times have got more difficult, and the average working week in now nearer 48 hours once again. But to me that would feel like a holiday! Until last week, that was.
But this week, there are only 4 days to do 5 days work. Normality returns!
So until next (7 day) week...
MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOU BLESS GOD.
His servant and yours

"… so that they may be one as we are one." (John 17:12, 21, 23-4) Our website is currently being developed to encourage your participation one with another, to share resources, and to enable you to promote events and items of interest to the body as a whole – and have a smile while doing it!
