THE PURGING of THE CHURCH
The Lord has led me to go back to a sermon/prophecy I received in a group mailing, and filed, some time ago. It is by David Wilkerson.David was the Founding Pastor of Times Square Church in New York City. He was called to New York in 1958 to minister to gang members and drug addicts, as told in the best-selling book, The Cross and the Switchblade.
After the introduction, he gave 11 bullet points about THE GLORIOUS FUTURE JUST AHEAD. A summary of the 11 points we have considered over the past 2 1/2 months follows.
SUMMARY
1. A purged, purified ministry!
Jesus is returning for a pure and holy bride. Purging of unholy elements starts at the top!
2. A Church that God is calling back to repentance and holiness
May we all be warned. REPENT now and live HOLY lives. Our kingdom futures depend on it!
3. A people washed, cleansed - offering praises in true righteousness.
Do you, do I, want to be a part of the bride of Christ? To do that we must live holy and righteous lives now. This is the challenge facing each and every believer today.
4. A revival among our young people! Drug strongholds coming down! Alcohol and divorce no longer prevalent among God's people.
A purified church, living lives in accordance with the will of the Lord.
5. The sound of prayer - intercession!
Prayer and intercession in accordance with the Lord's will, not our own.
6. A people of God who will discern between the holy and the unholy!
Until we get back into the Word and spend time with our Saviour and Lord Jesus, our ability to discern between the holy and unholy will not change.
7. Everywhere, God's people turning again to the Word.
In order for believers to turn again to the Word, there is a need for Holy Spirit infilling or baptism, however you prefer to express it, to come back into the church today. Then we will see a return to the Word.
8. A tested, tried people, once again devoted to the Person of Jesus Christ!
Devotion to Jesus, as we can see, is developed through trials, testing, and yes, persecution, in our lives. Are we prepared to pay the price?
9. His Person being lifted up to draw all men to Him!
The kingdom church is based on the exaltation of Jesus, as revealed by the Word and empowered by the Holy Spirit. Are you prepared to put Jesus in first place in your life?
10. Christ no longer the stranger in our midst, but CROWNED - PRE-EMINENT!
Jesus is 'No. 1' in our lives!
11.A Pentecost that truly exalts the name and power of Jesus Christ, the Lord of all.
Jesus is Lord! JESUS IS LORD!! JESUS IS LORD!!!
HALLELUJAH!!!

Children of Abraham (John 8:31-59)
The debate continued with the Pharisees claim to be Abraham’s children.
“If you follow my teaching then you really are my disciples. You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.â€
“I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave of sin. A slave doesn’t have permanent place in the family, but the son is part of the family forever. If the Son sets you free, then you’re truly free. I know you’re Abraham’s descendants. yet you’re trying to kill me because you refuse to accept my words. I’m telling you what the Father has revealed to me, while you do what your father told you.â€
“If you really were children of Abraham, you’d do what Abraham did,†“But you are trying to kill me now, because I told you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham would never have done that. You’re doing what your father does.â€
“If God really was your father, you would love me. I came from God and now I am here. The decision to come wasn’t mine, but the One who sent me. Why can’t you understand what I’m saying? It’s because you refuse to hear my message! Your father is the Devil, and you love to follow your father’s evil desires. He was a murderer from the beginning. He never stood for the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies he reveals his true character, for he’s a liar and the father of lies. 45So because I tell you the truth, you don’t believe me! Can any one of you prove that I’m guilty of sin? If I’m telling you the truth, why don’t you believe me? Anyone who belongs to God listens to what God says. The reason you don’t listen is because you don’t belong to God.â€
“No, I don’t have a demon,†“I honor my Father, but you dishonor me. I’m not here looking to glorify myself. But there is One who does this for me and who judges in my favor. I tell you the truth, anyone who follows my teaching will never die.â€
“If I glorify myself, my glory means nothing. But it is God himself who glorifies me, the one you claim, ‘He is our God.’ You don’t know him, but I know him. If I were to say, ‘I don’t know him,’ I’d be a liar, just like you. But I do know him, and I do what he says. Your father Abraham was delighted as he looked forward to see my coming, and was so happy when he saw it.â€

Jesus Heals a Man Blind Since Birth (John 9:1-12)
The disciples asked why he was blind.
“It wasn’t because the man or his parents sinned, but so that what God can do may be shown in his life. We have to keep on doing the work of the One who sent me as long as it is still daytime. The night is coming when no one can work. 5While I’m here in the world I am the light of the world.â€
“Go and wash yourself in the Pool of Siloamâ€

DAVID'S DOODLINGS
PROSPERITY1223. The curse of prosperity is its uncanny ability to draw our attention away from God.
1224. For most, prosperity is a magnet that attracts people away from its source.
1225. Prosperity comes, prosperity goes, but God's provision is eternal life.
1226. Prosperity is human indulgence, sacrifice, a godly command.
1227. Faith is of more value in affliction than in prosperity.
1228. A general rule in God's economy is that faith grows through affliction, but dies with prosperity.
1229. Want to build your faith? Then ask God for affliction, not prosperity. Not surprising there is so little faith today!
1230. It is an enigma to me to see the carparks at prosperity preacher's meetings full of old jalopies!
1231. History proves that God's kingdom grows faster through affliction than prosperity.

227. TIMOTHY AND ANTONIO
There were two Catholic boys, Timothy Murphy and Antonio Secola whose lives paralleled each other in amazing ways. In the same year Timothy was born in Ireland, Antonio was born in Italy.
Faithfully they attended parochial school from kindergarten through their senior year in high school. They took their vows to enter the priesthood early in college, and upon graduation became priests. Their careers had come to amaze the world, but it was generally acknowledged that Antonio was just a cut above Timothy in all respects. Their rise through the ranks of Bishop, Archbishop, and finally Cardinal was meteoric to say the least, and the Catholic world knew that when the present Pope died, it would be either Timothy or Antonio who would become the next Pope.
In time the Pope did die, and the College of Cardinals went to work. In less time than anyone expected, smoke rose from the chimney and the world waited to see who they had chosen. The world, Catholic, Protestant, and secular was surprised to learn that Timothy Murphy had been elected Pope.
Antonio was beyond surprise, he was devastated because, even with all Timothy's giftedness, Antonio knew he was the better qualified. With gall that shocked the Cardinals, Antonio asked for a private session with them in which he candidly asked, "Why Timothy?"
After long silence one old Cardinal took pity on the bewildered Antonio and rose to reply, "We knew you were the better of the two, but we just could not bear the thought of the leader of the Roman Catholic Church being called "Pope Secola."
226. MARRIED IN HEAVEN
A couple is driving to the chapel to get married. Tragically, they have an accident and both are instantly killed. They arrive in heaven, still so very much in love and petition an audience with God. They then ask God if they can still get married in heaven. God says that there is no reason to do so, it is not done, etc. The couple is persistent in professing their love and desire to be wed. God finally relents just a bit and says, "Okay, but first you must wait five years.
Five years go by; they are still eager to be wed, so they go to see God. And again, God tells them that they must wait another five years. The five years go by, and finally the couple has the wedding that they always dreamed of. However, after a few months, they begin to learn that being married is not the same as being engaged, and they appear before God seeking a divorce! God's response to their request: "What? It took Me 10 years to find a clergy person up here, and now you expect Me to find a lawyer?"
