OBSERVATIONS FROM AFRICA
CONCLUSION
As a continent Africa has been maligned and misunderstood round the world.
Darkest Africa was true 50 to 100 years ago, but now the continent is opening up to the world. Like everywhere else in the world there is both good and bad here.
In a spiritual sense, there is the greatest Holy Spirit and the most evil spirits, for the two balance themselves out everywhere.
Mankind originated in north Africa as both scientists and religionists will confirm.
What is at the heart of the bad wrap Africa receives?
Quite simply - RACISM!
Let's be honest! White skins are seen to be the most desirable, then brown, and lastly black!
Intelligence is rated this way too.
IT IS SIMPLY NOT TRUE!
Skin colour does not determine the person. Our blood, our DNA's are all the same. The fact that the pigmentation of our skin has evolved differently, primarily I would suspect to adapt to climatic conditions, does not make the man or woman.
Although now living in Kenya, I come from New Zealand, where 10 days ago there was a terrible shooting at 2 mosques, killing 50 people and wounding a similar number more. It was carried out by an Australian white supremacist, who believes that white people are inherently superior to all other races. It was a shocking tragedy, made even worse by our belief that being isolated at the end of the world, this could not happen in our country. Welcome to the real world!
This man's actions were at the extremity of white supremacist 'theology', but it is ingrained in many, probably most, white people to a lesser degree - and black people too for that matter! This is tragic.
White skins are seen as superior, as whites have been the dominant culture in relatively recent times. That has not always been so.
Jesus came to save all people, irrespective of race or skin colour. Incidentally, Jesus was brown skinned, not white, as portrayed in the movies! The picture gives a scientific representation of what Jesus most likely looked similar to. He certainly was not a white man.
Africans have been discriminated against by the colonists here, by those in the Americas where they were taken into slavery, and elsewhere. This discrimination hangs over in societies worldwide today.
As I close this series, I simply want to say that Africans, those among whom I live and work, are no different to people everywhere. They all want a better life for their families, and will make huge sacrifices to do so. There are good Africans and bad Africans, highly intelligent and unintelligent people, just as there are in every society in the world.
Do I get frustrated with things here? Certainly. Just as they can get frustrated with me!
But on average people are loving, peaceful and actually happier in their less, than those elsewhere in their more.
I love Africa and Africans. I see a huge latent potential that I am doing something in my small way to help develop.
My prayer is that we all, black, brown and white alike, will be united as one in Jesus. I am accused of religious extremism, but to me, Jesus is the only real hope for the world.
He is 'the way, the truth and the life', and He taught us to love Him and love our neighbour as ourselves. May we become united in His love today.

The First Shall be Last Discourse (Matthew 20:1-16)
A parable of workers in a vineyard.
“For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard. He agreed to pay the workers one denarius for the day, and sent them to work in his vineyard. Around 9 a.m. he went out and saw others without work standing in the marketplace.
“‘Go and work in the vineyard too, and I’ll pay you what’s right,’ he told them. So they went to work. Around noon and 3 p.m. he went out and did the same thing. At 5 p.m. he went out and found others standing there. ‘Why are you standing around all day doing nothing?’ he asked them. ‘Because nobody’s hired us,’ they replied. ‘Go and work in the vineyard too,’ he told them.
“When evening came, the owner of the vineyard told his manager, ‘Call the workers in, and pay them their wages. Begin with the workers hired last and then on to those hired first.’ When those who were hired at 5 p.m. came in, they each received one denarius. So when those who were hired first came in, they thought they would get more, but they also received one denarius. When they received their pay, they complained about the owner. ‘Those who were hired last only worked for an hour, and you’ve paid them the same as us who worked the whole day in the burning heat,’ they grumbled.
“The owner answered one of them, ‘My friend, I haven’t treated you unfairly. Didn’t you agree with me to work for one denarius? Take your pay and go. I want to pay those who were hired last the same as I paid you. Can’t I choose to do what I want with my own money? Why should you give me evil looks because I want to do good?’ In this way the last shall be first and the first shall be last.
Jesus Predicts His death to the Disciples (Matthew 20:17-19, Mark10:32-4, Luke 18:31-4)
On the road to Jerusalem.
“We’re going to Jerusalem,” he told them, “and the Son of man will be betrayed to the chief priests and religious teachers. They will condemn him to death and hand him over to the foreigners. They will mock him, spit on him, flog him, and kill him. But three days later he will rise again.”
Request From a Mother (Matthew 20:20-28, Mark10:35-45)
On behalf of her sons.
“So what do you want me to do for you?”
To sit beside Jesus on His throne.
You don’t know what you’re asking,” “Can you drink the cup I drink? Can you be baptized with the baptism of pain I will suffer?”
“You will drink the cup I drink, and you will be baptized with the same baptism as me,” “But it’s not for me to grant who should sit on my right or on my left. These places are reserved for those for whom they have been prepared.”
Jesus now responds to all the disciples.
“You realize that those who claim to rule nations oppress their people. The rulers act like tyrants. But for you it’s not like this. Anyone of you who wants you to be a ruler must be your servant, and anyone who wants to be first among you must be the slave of all of you For even the Son of man did not come to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

WHAT A THRILL TO BE ABLE TO HELP!
On Saturday in our Eye Clinic, a Mama from far away was operated on to remove a growth on her eyelid. These growths, due to their weight, push the eyelid down, so that you cannot see out of that eye. Ultimately, if not treated the growth could burst internally and the pus it contains go to the brain. This could cause a stroke or meningitis, so the operation is potentially lifesaving. Besides helping the lady to see, potential death causing consequences have been eliminated. The other eye has a smaller growth, which we will remove next week, if she is happy with the results of this first one. Thank you Rosemary for your skill. Another customer helped to see again. PTL!

'THE WORDS OF JESUS' REMAIN AVAILABLE FOR PDF DOWNLOAD
Join the many who have downloaded the 'The Words of Jesus'. I am sure you will be blessed by it, as I have been.
One key element here is the setting out in chronological order (as far as it is possible to do so) our Lord's words drawn from all the Gospels, and the elimination of repetition between Gospels.
You may be surprised by the different perspective this presentation gives you both in understanding of His life and ministry, and in achieving a closer relationship with Him.

DAVID'S DOODLINGS
' saying no to another piece of chocolate.
' biting your tongue when others criticize you unfairly.
' calmly watching the person ahead of you take the last seat.
' not answering an argument with an argument.
' looking straight ahead when a beautiful lady walks by.
' keeping your temper when others are losing theirs.
' resisting the temptation to pick your nose in public.
' keeping your attention on the one speaking to you.
' waiting in the queue for a loo!

THIS WEEK: A REVELATION OF..... DIVIDING THE WATERS (Part 7) FROM MOSES TO JOSHUA
Similarly to the story of the crossing of the Red Sea, the entry of the Jews into their promised inheritance under the new leadership of Joshua also has parallels and lessons for today’s Church.
We look at the final 6 of these.

*** Those who can't laugh at themselves leave the job to others. ***
249. Letter From God
One day God sent one of His angels to earth to see how things were going. The angel came back and reported to God that things were very bad and very few people seemed to even want to live a godly life. God decided he had better send another angel for a second opinion. After a short time that angel came back with the same report.
So God decided that he would send a letter to each of the people that he felt were truly willing to serve Him and encourage them to keep the faith and continue to strive in the midst of evil.
Do you know what was in that letter?
No? Oh sorry, I guess you didn't get one.
250. One Student's Prayer
"Now I lay me down to rest,
And hope to pass tomorrow's test.
If I should die before I wake,
That's one less test I have to take."
251. Sleeping
A Sunday school teacher asked her little children, as they were on the Way to church service, "And why is it necessary to be quiet in church?"
One bright little girl replied, "Because people are sleeping."
252. Alike?
My grandson was visiting one day when he asked, "Grandma, do you know How you and God are alike?" I mentally polished my halo while I asked, "No, how are we alike?" "You're both old," he replied.
253. Which Virgin?
A ten-year old, under the tutelage of her grandmother, was becoming quite knowledgeable about the Bible. Then one day she floored her grandmother by asking, "Which Virgin was the mother of Jesus? The virgin Mary or the King James Virgin?"
QWIK QWIP: “Compassion is difficult to give away because it keeps coming back.”

A DAVID MUSING
NUMBERS
Numbers are fun
Ninety-two to one
2 4 U?
Pink or Blue!
12 x 30 is 120
10 dozen is plenty
Of fine brown eggs I means
Or 4 x 30 of beans
12 x 2 is 24
But maybe no more
Tables are no longer taught
Answers now need thought!
1 + 1 = 2's no longer true,
Boy or girl, the same way 2!
New maths and life are so confusing,
When 10 divided by 2 requires musing.
Maybe I'm dumb or just a fool
Or needs go to a PC school
But 1 + 1 is 2 u c,
Simply now, cannot be 3!
Unltil next week.....
MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOU BLESS GOD
His servant and yours
