BE SILENT. TAKE TIME OUT TO LISTEN.

FROM THE WORD
“And now this admonition is for you, O priests. If you do not listen, and if you do not set your heart to honor my name,†says the LORD Almighty, “I will send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings. Yes, I have already cursed them, because you have not set your heart to honor me." (Malachi 2:1-2)"Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.†While he was still speaking, a bright cloud enveloped them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!â€" (Matthew 17:4-5)
"Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.†Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.†As it is, you boast and brag. All such boasting is evil. Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn’t do it, sins. (James 4:13-17)

DAVID'S DOODLINGS
KNOWING GOD351. The more I discover about God the more I realise there is to know.
352. The closer I get to God, the more I realise how big He is and how small I am.
353. While God graciously accepts me as I am, His desire is for me to become more like Him.
354. When God moves, the results are beyond our imagination. Why then do we try and do His work ourselves?
811. Sanctification is 'the means', holiness 'the end'.

CRANWELL'S CARTOON
But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock that were with him in the ark, and he sent a wind over the earth, and the waters receded. 2 Now the springs of the deep and the floodgates of the heavens had been closed, and the rain had stopped falling from the sky. 3 The water receded steadily from the earth. At the end of the hundred and fifty days the water had gone down, 4 and on the seventeenth day of the seventh month the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat. 5 The waters continued to recede until the tenth month, and on the first day of the tenth month the tops of the mountains became visible. 6 After forty days Noah opened the window he had made in the ark 7 and sent out a raven, and it kept flying back and forth until the water had dried up from the earth. 8 Then he sent out a dove to see if the water hadreceded from the surface of the ground. 9 But the dove could find
no place to set its feet because there was water over all the surface
of the earth; so it returned to Noah in the ark. He reached out his
hand and took the dove and brought it back to himself in the ark.
10 He waited seven more days and again sent out the dove from the ark.
11 When the dove returned to him in the evening, there in its beak
was a freshly plucked olive leaf! Then Noah knew that the water had
receded from the earth. 12 He waited seven more days and sent the
dove out again, but this time it did not return to him. (Genesis 8:1-12)

A FREUDIAN SLIP!Hi David:
I have been faithfully reading your Monday e-mails for a long time, and have been amazed at the lack of typographical errors in them. However, last week you wrote "Let's look past our BED experiences with others." Could this have been a "Freudian Slip".
Keep up the good work, and God bless.

David
I really hope that's a typo in there...
Today, I want to encourage us all to remember that there remains one we can always trust. Let's look past our bed experiences with others. People, no matter how perfect they appear to be, are always capable of letting us down. For not one of us has yet reached perfection. Not me, nor you.

Bless you, Brother!

Just proves that I have some way to go to reach perfection yet. Particularly when waitng for the wife to come home! A Mind Checker as well as a Spell Checker needed! David

TUESDAY TEACHINGS
THE PROPHETIC FEASTS OF THE LORD - Series 2 - THE AUTUMN FEASTSPart 3 of 10 - THE PATTERN OF THINGS TO COME
This week we are commencing our look at the Day of Atonement. This Feast is the one of greatest relevance to the church today. For it clearly represents, in it' New Testament fulfilment, the times in which we live.
We don't like it! It is contrary to much of the 'easy Christianity' teaching so prevalent today. But it is the Biblical reality.
Something we truly need to understand, absorb and apply in our daily lives.
Check it out in your letterbox tomorrow. If you aren't on the mailing list, you can register now at... tteach-on@wwj.org.nz

LAUGHING AT OURSELVES
378. SUPERBOWL XXXIII - AFTERMATH
After John Elway dies and enters the Pearly Gates, God takes him on a tour. He shows John a tiny two-bedroom house with a raggedy Broncos banner hanging from the front porch. "This is your house, John. Most people don't get their own houses up here," God says.
John looks at the house, then turns around and sees one sitting on top of the hill. It's a huge two-story mansion with white marble columns, flowing fountains, a rolling lawn, and splendid patios. Flags for the State of Georgia line both sides of the sidewalk, and a huge Atlanta Falcons banner hangs between the marble columns.
"Thanks for the house, Lord," says John, "but let me ask you a question. I get this dinky little two-bedroom house, but Chris Chandler gets a mansion with brand new Falcon banners and flags flying all over the place. Why is that?"
God looks at him seriously for a moment, then with a smile God says, "That's not Chandler's house. It's mine."
377. NOT TO BE OUTDONE
During Sunday services, a Pastor is so overwhelmed with religious fervor that he drops to his knees, puts his forehead to the ground and says "Before you Lord, I am nothing."
Not to be outdone, the Deacon also gets down on his knees, puts his forehead to the floor and says, "Before you Lord, I am nothing."
Moved by their humility, a layman in the fourth row steps into the aisle. He falls down on his knees, puts his forehead to the ground and says, "Before you Lord, I am nothing."
The Deacon, noticing the guy, elbows the Pastor. "So," he whispers. "Look who thinks he's nothing."

FACTS FOR FUN
LAST WEEKS QUESTION: What animal can see in two different directions at the same time?ANSWER: The chameleon has eyes that move independently. Thus a chameleon can see in two different directions at the same moment.
THIS WEEK'S QUESTION: Germany's invasion of what nation ignited the Second World War in Europe?
Answer Next Week.
666. NAME CHANGE
The weasel, which is brown in summer, is known as an ermine in the winter, once its fur turns white. (A subtle variation on the coat of many colours.)
667. WALKING ON WATER - LILIES
The giant water lily Victoria Regia has leaves that can grow as big as eight feet across and so they are heavy enough to support the weight of a small child or animal. (Giant, not ‘liliput’!)
668. MISTAKEN GENIUS
Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison and Issac Newton had trouble in school. Just goes to show that genius is not always evident to those who are trained to develop it. (Probably knew more than their teachers anyway.)

INDEPENDENT?
In his younger days our golden retriever Catcher often ran away when he had the chance. His veterinarian's office was about a mile down the road, and Catcher would usually go there. The office staff knew him and would call me to come pick him up. One day I called the vet to make an appointment for Catcher's yearly vaccine.
"Will you bring him," asked the receptionist, "or will he come on his own?"

BIBLE BITS (The 'Minor' Prophets)
ZEPHANIAHA contemporary of Jeremiah, Zephaniah's prophecy came in the years prior to the fall of Jerusalem. He talked of the coming day of the Lord, which for Jerusalem, was just around the corner. Yet he also spoke of the glorious long-term future that God had for His people. For a remnant would survive the day of Judgement.

A DAVID MUSING
Of course, the main event for me this week has been the homecoming of my wife Kathy, from Scotland. The major problem with air travel is the need to adjust to the different time zone. Particularly so from Europe to New Zealand, where day is night and night is day. One of the things Kathy has noticed, other than sleeping at the wrong time, has been the extreme differences in day lengths between the two. For Scotland is approaching their longest day around 22 June, while for us in the Southern Hemisphere, it is nearing the shortest day. The world is truly a small and amazing place in these days of air travel.
A hundred years ago it took 6 months on a sailing ship to get from Britain to NZ. Now it takes but 24 hours or so of flying time. What will be next?
Today's photo shows 3 generations of the Tait family. Kathy with our son Andrew, And the 3 'bairns' Eva, Nathan and Charis.
So until next week...
MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOU BLESS GOD.

Today's 'Word Puzzle' Answer: RAMPANT
TODAY'S 'DO YOU KNOW?' ANSWER: FALSE: The LORD then said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation. 2 Take with you seven of every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate, and two of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate, 3 and also seven of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive throughout the earth. 4 Seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made.†5 And Noah did all that the LORD commanded him. 6 Noah was six hundred years old when the floodwaters came on the earth. 7 And Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives entered the ark to escape the waters of the flood. 8 Pairs of clean and unclean animals, of birds and of all creatures that move along the ground, 9 male and female, came to Noah and entered the ark, as God had commanded Noah. 10 And after the seven days the floodwaters came on the earth. (Genesis 7:1-10)
