ONE DAY AT A TIME
New Year is a time when many of us take the opportunity to review the old and plan the new. We seek to keep and develop what worked well in the past while discarding or modifying those activities that weren't so successful. The ability to plan for the future rather than simply react to the present is one of the things that sets humans apart from the animal kingdom. While a few animals have the ability to respond to seasonal climatic changes and so prepare for the days ahead, mankind has the unique ability to look beyond the present and endeavour to mould the future to our own will and desires. We have the ability to learn from the past and so to improve our future through changed behaviours.
Of course we are all different, which makes life so interesting - or did I hear 'frustrating'! Some of us plan to excess while others seem quite happy to relive yesterday's mistakes again today, tomorrow and each and every day after that.
However, plan though we might, there is no guarantee that our tomorrows will come. For all we have certainty of is the moment in time in which we now live. It may be the first moment of a long future, or the final moment of our life's journey. We may plan for the future, but can only live in the present. A new 'David's Doodling' here! Each day is a precious gift from God, to be valued and used effectively to build our relationship with Him and to help others, as the New Commandment' commands. For it is amazing how quickly our tomorrows become yesterdays. Another 'David's Doodling!
And a final thought (Doodling) for today. The one event we can't control in our lives, is the moment the first becomes the last! For the natural is temporary, the spiritual eternal.

FROM THE WORD
"“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labour or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendour was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." (Matthew 6:25-34)
DAVID'S DOODLINGS
### Be honoured when one gives you of their time, for it is an irreplaceable gift.### Time is more precious than gold, for it cannot be bought at any price.
### We must remember that the past is gone, the future is yet to come, but what I am doing now is the reality of today.
### The only stride in the race of life that we can instantly change, is the one we are now taking.

EARY TO CHURCH!
Ever notice that you have to get to church pretty early to find a seat in the back row?
DIVINE WISDOM
A local priest and pastor were fishing on the side of the road.
They thoughtfully made a sign saying, "The End is Near! Turn yourself around now before it's too late!" and showed it to each passing car.
One driver that drove by didn't appreciate the sign and shouted at them: "Leave us alone you religious nuts!"
All of a sudden they heard a big splash, looked at each other, and the priest said to the pastor .....
"You think we should just put up a sign that says 'bridge out' instead?"

A DAVID MUSING
In New Zealand the Christmas - New Year time is our traditional holiday period. It is the time that New Zealand closes! Not as much now as it did in the past, but it is still very difficult and frustrating to get many things done during this time.Of course, some things don't stop when most of us do. Kathy is a Theatre Nurse at our local hospital, where a team has to work over this period to look after the 'hatches', 'patches' and 'dispatches', life events that are blissfully unaware of the 'Kiwi' (NZ) holiday system.
Set me musing about whether there are holidays in Heaven!
Maybe prospective entrants have to queue up outside the entrance on 'Heavenly Holidays'. When God doesn't seem to hear our prayers, is it a holiday in Heaven? And of course, when we don't immediately get what we ask for, it must be Heavenly holiday time! And Jesus too, must be on an extended vacation, for He hasn't returned to earth yet.
These answers are really so simple! Why hadn't I thought of them before? Oh well, I shall just have to keep on trying until Heaven re-opens! Come to think of it, our perseverance is just what He wants anyway! Yes, He always has His way - even in the holidays!

Our role is to bless and encourage those in ministry while promoting co-operation and unity of direction amongst the body of Christ, as emphasised 3 times by Jesus in His longest prayer, immediately prior to His arrest and crucifixion. "… so that they may be one as we are one." (John 17:12, 21, 23-4) Our website is currently being developed to encourage your participation one with another, to share resources, and to enable you to promote events and items of interest to the body as a whole – and have a smile while doing it!
