TWENTY-FIVE COMMANDMENTS OF JESUS
Not clearly numbered and listed, as in the Old Testament outward Law of the 10 Commandments, they are found among the teachings of Jesus in the 4 Gospels, and are available for all who have a heart to seek them.We all too easily think, with the emphasis that Jesus places on love and forgiveness, that he didn't teach any absolutes. But, as can be seen here, Jesus did place boundaries on believer's behaviour, along with instructions for Godly living.
I have grouped these into 3 categories for easier comprehension.
Don't take my word for it! Study the Scriptures!

WHOSE CHURCH IS IT ANYWAY?
THE POST APOSTOLIC CHURCHThe major question now is, "where is the church of the 21st Century heading".
Fourteen years into the new century, it is becoming more apparent that God is 'doing a new thing'. But as we have seen over the past 2000 years, through the Dark Ages, the Reformation and the Holy Spirit revivals of the 20th century, the Holy Spirit will always be to the fore of what transpires.
Regrettably from a human perspective, all past movements of the Holy Spirit have come to an end, primarily because man has codified them and taken over. Like Moses, the world's humblest man and the closest to God before Jesus, when he hit the rock, (which he had done successfully before to bring water), rather than talk to it as God had instructed him to do,(Numbers 20:13) man has always seemingly known better than God. This cost Moses the opportunity to take the Israelites into the Promised Land.
So where do we go from here? What is God doing here and now, and into the future.
THE CHALLENGE OF..... LIVING THE KINGDOM LIFESTYLE
To conclude this series on the history of the church, past, present and likely future from a Holy Spirit anointing perspective, I will finish, over the weeks ahead, by looking at the 'Parables of Jesus' which set out the principles of living a kingdom lifestyle.
The relevant Scriptures can be accessed by clicking on the blue links.
THE GREAT PHYSICIAN
10 While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and “sinners†came and ate with him and his disciples. 11 When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and ‘sinners’?†12 On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.†(Matthew 9:10-13)
This brief parable should turn the church upside down! It did originally. But then the church became either, a part of the establishment (eg. Roman Catholic, Orthodox and Anglican), or indirectly associated with the establishment (eg. most Protestant churches today - from 'protesting' to 'conformity'). Most of the people Jesus mixed with, those whom He came to bring into His kingdom, had been rejected by the religious establishment of the time as being beyond salvation. But Jesus came to save the hurting and the lost. Not the righteous, but the sinners, as the parable states. This was anathema to the religious people of the day.
Luke 15:2
We all know this and accept it in theory. We may run programmes to help the poor, or go out on mission trips, but I would suggest that most of our time and money (the best barometer) is spent on ourselves, maintaining ministers, buildings and programmes that predominantly fit in with the middle class establishment of our society. The emphasis is on meeting our own needs, to become comfortable within the environment in which we live. The early New Testament church was definitely not part of the establishment. It was persecuted. It went underground in many cases, simply to ensure its survival.
Acts 8:1-3
Persecution is promised still, to those who wish to enter the kingdom. For our lifestyle is to be radically different to that of the world.
Matthew 5:10-12
The disciples of Jesus were a classic example of completely unsuitable people chosen to be 'ministers'. Uneducated, rejected by the religious establishment, who only chose the best and brightest to become disciples of the Rabbis. Yet, in spite of their ups and downs when Jesus was teaching them, after His death, resurrection and ascension, they changed the course of history right through to the present day. A rabble of uneducated men became world changers! For Jesus knew their hearts!
What do we look for today in our ministers? The best and brightest, with quality theological degrees .......... Is this the example Jesus provided to us? You will, of course, quote Paul, as a rabbinical style example. Yes he was trained. But the first thing that happened to him was to be broken of his training. Let us read what Easton's Bible Dictionary had to say about it.
Easton's Bible Dictionary
To become effective once more, the church needs to follow the example of Scripture and Jesus and become a grassroots organism. Ministering to the 'sinners', showing 'mercy' to those in need. Becoming outward rather than inwards focused.
Talk is easy. But are we ready to change? Are we prepared to meet the challenge?
THE PARABLES OF THE HIDDEN TREASURE AND THE PEARL
44 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. 45 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. 46 When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it. (Matthew 13:44-6)
The kingdom of God really is available now!
It is hidden to non believers, and sadly, to most believers also. Many believers are even looking for it, for they are (incorrectly) taught that it is a future kingdom only. If it were not available now, then why would Jesus have told these parables? Jesus, in fact, is talking in the past tense here, about two people who have actually already found the kingdom. So logically, it has to be there to be found!
The kingdom of God is priceless!
It is a treasure in the field; it is also the finest pearl the trader has ever seen. It is easy for us to build a fantasy picture of what 'heaven' is like - fluffy angels and golden paving. Suspect it will be different when we do get there! But it is even more difficult to envisage that this beautiful, precious kingdom could ever exist on earth, amongst all the troubles and challenges we are facing in the world, let alone imagine what it looks like! In fact though the kingdom already exists in those who seek it. We may not be able to see it, but it is there, within.
Luke 17:20-1
However, in the end times this inner existence will be reflected outwardly also, in kingdom believers, in what is often called the 'double blessing'. Imagine being filled with 'the fullness of God'!
I had an aunty, Aunty Ina, who suffered badly from arthritis in her later years. However she would still cook (which won my affection!), but my greatest memory is of her sitting by the fire with her Bible by her side. In spite of her pain, the glow of the Holy Spirit shined from her. The kingdom within, was seen without!
The kingdom costs us everything!
The first man sold all he had, the second, all his precious pearls, in order to buy, (to inherit) the kingdom. To participate in the glory of the kingdom costs us our all. For we cannot live in two kingdoms at the same time. Either we live in the world (follow the ways of the world while maybe acknowledging Jesus as Saviour) or commit our lives 100% to Him (making Jesus Lord of our lives). Jesus spoke in this way as He prayed for His disciples at Gethsemane;
John 17:14
The kingdom costs everything, for as black is the opposite of white, so true kingdom believers will reflect the light of Jesus to the world, who will either accept or reject the light.
Ephesians 5:8-13
Are you, am I, prepared to pay the price of the kingdom?
So we can continue to say.....
THE TRUE FOLLOWERS OF JESUS ARE ONES WHO ARE OBEDIENT TO THE LEADING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN THEIR LIVES.

FROM THE WORD
THE WORDS OF JESUS continuedThe Lord has asked me to compile a publication of the words Jesus spoke, as recorded in the New Testament in chronological order.
Of course, it is not a Bible substitute! I Hope you find it helpful too, in your walk with Jesus.
At Gethsemane (Matthew 26:36-46, Mark 14:32-42, Luke 22:30-46, John 18:1)
Jesus prays while the disciples sleep.
“Sit down here while I go over there and pray.â€
“I am so overwhelmed with sadness that it’s killing me. Wait here and keep watch with me.â€
“My Father, please, if it’s possible, let this cup of suffering be taken from me,†Jesus asked. “Even so, may it not be what I want but what you want.â€
“What, you couldn’t stay awake with me for just one hour? Stay awake and pray, so that you don’t fall into temptation. Yes, the spirit is willing, but the body is weak.â€
“My Father, if this cup cannot be taken from me without me drinking from it, then your will be done,â€
“How can you still be sleeping and resting? Look, the time has come. The Son of man is about to be betrayed into the hands of sinners! Get up, let’s go! See, the one who’s betraying me has arrived.â€
Jesus is Arrested (Matthew 26:48-56, Mark 14:44-52, Luke 22:47-54, John 18:4-12)
Judas betrays Jesus with a kiss.
“My friend, do what you came to do,â€
Jesus answers the mob.
“Who are you looking for?â€
“I am,â€
“I already told you I am,†Jesus replied. “So if it’s me you’re looking for, let these others go.â€
Peter severs Malchus’ ear.
“Put your sword away. Everyone who fights with a sword will die by the sword. Don’t you think I could ask my Father, and he’d immediately send more than twelve legions of angels? But then how could the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must be like this?â€
To the mob.
“Have you come with swords and clubs to arrest me as if I was some kind of dangerous criminal? Every day I sat in the temple teaching and you didn’t arrest me then. But all this is happening to fulfill what the prophets wrote.â€
Jesus heals the ear of Malchus.
“Stop! No more of this!â€

DAVID'S DOODLINGS
SIN1183. There is no such thing as hidden sin. God's eyes are everywhere!
1184. As we grow in God, sin is frequently exposed in an attitude rather than an act.
1185. In God's view of sin, what we think is what we are. Now that's a scary thought!
1186. Under the New Covenant, sin includes intention as well as action.
1187. Sin is - our self revealed.
1188. It is a lie that people are inherently good. Sin number one!
1189. Sin leads you to Hell. If I lied about it, I'd end up there too!
1190. Jesus overcame our sin - if we choose to accept Him!
1191. If Jesus didn't die for our sin, why did he choose to go through the agony of the cross? For the decision was His!
1192. If we don't nip it in the bud, the nature of sin is such that it feeds upon itself until it grows to be out of our control.
1193. 'Sin' is 'in' me!

THE WORLD'S GREATEST PROBLEM!!!!! (Next to not knowing Jesus)
THE MIRROR TEST (for men)By Dr Grant Schofield.
What do you think is a comfortable weight for you that would allow you to do all the things you want to do physically, and which you would want to maintain more or less for the rest of your life? A really good way to think about this is to take the mirror test. I strongly recommend that you do this test alone with preferable no chance of anyone coming in when you are conducting it. What you do is get all your gear off and stand in front of a large mirror where you can see your whole body. Now jump up and down several times and watch bits wobble and move. Ideally your nuts and bolts will be swinging all over the place and that will be it. If your man-boobs are jiggling, your guts bouncing, and other jelly-like movements are randomly going on round your body, you may have something to think about. I don't want to be flippant about this. seriously I encourage you to do this. Okay, you don't have to look like a Greek god, but your life depends on being in some sort of shape. The mirror test is a practical and real way to have a good long, hard, and honest look at your self.
PS: Comments are welcomed and appreciated.

108. MORE KID WISDOM
A Sunday school teacher was discussing the Ten Commandments with her 5 and 6 year-olds. After explaining the commandment "Honour thy Father and thy Mother," she asked, "Is there a commandment that teaches us how to treat our brothers and sisters?"
One little boy answered, "Thou shall not kill."
107. KID WISDOM
A kindergarten teacher was observing her classroom of children while they drew. She would occasionally walk around to see each child's artwork. As she got to one little girl who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was. The girl replied, "I am drawing God."
The teacher paused and said, "but no one knows what God looks like." Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing the girl replied, "They will in a minute."
106. SCIENCE v GOD!
A group of scientists decided that mankind had advanced far enough that they no longer needed God. So they drew straws, and the loser went to find God. When he found Him, he dithered a bit, made some small talk about the weather, and finally came out with it.
"OK, look God," he said, "We've mastered space exploration, we can cure any disease, we can talk instantaneously with people around the world, we can clone human beings; basically, we don't need you any more."
God listened patiently. Finally He spoke.
"Tell you what," He said. "We'll settle this with a man-making contest. Each of us will make a man, and the first one to finish wins."
"Sure," said the man, who headed off to consult with his colleagues.
"Wait a minute," called God.
The man turned.
"We're going to do this the real way; the way I did it in the beginning."
"No problem," responds the man, bending down to grab a handful of clay.
"No, no, no," says God. "You make your own dirt."

FACTS FOR FUN
LAST WEEKS QUESTION: What or who is the Cardinal Bird named after?ANSWER: The bright red bird, much beloved in the United States, owes its name to the equally bright red-robed officials of the Catholic Church. The Catholic cardinals got their name from the adjective ‘cardinal’ which means ‘important’ or ‘that on which something depends,’ from the Latin ‘cardo,’ or ‘hinge.’ They started wearing these distinctive red robes in the thirteenth century, not to be self important, but when Pope Innocent IV proposed they wear red cloaks and red hats as a symbol of their willingness to shed blood for their faith. (Would they – and we - still?)
THIS WEEK'S QUESTION: What is a ‘red dog’?

139. HURT AND HURT
My husband was bending over to tie my three-year-old's shoes. That's when I noticed my son Ben staring at my husband's head. He gently touched the slightly thinning spot of hair and said in a concerned voice, "Daddy, you have a hole in your head. Does it hurt?"
After a pause, I heard my husband's murmured reply, "Not physically."
140. CHECKING IT OUT
We had spent the day moving from our farmhouse into our new house in town.
Early the next morning, a Saturday, our 3 1/2-year-old ran into our bedroom to wake us up.
I dressed him and told him to play in the yard and to quit bothering us.
About 20 minutes later, he came running back.
"Mommy, Mommy," he exclaimed, "everybody has doorbells - and they all work."
141. IMPORTED
The customer in the Italian restaurant was so pleased that he asked to speak to the chef. The owner proudly led him into the kitchen and introduced him to the chef.
"Your veal parmigiana was superb," the customer said. "I just spent a month in Italy, and yours is better than any I ever had over there."
"Naturally," the chef said. "Over there, they use domestic cheese. Ours is imported."

Former Muslim helps Leading The Way viewers find new hope in Christ
By Peter WoodingEurope Bureau Chief for ASSIST News Service
HEMEL HEMPSTEAD, UK (ANS) -- Ever since Leading The Way began broadcasting Christian programming to the Arab world through its 24/7 satellite TV channel THE KINGDOM SAT, something miraculous has been happening.
Every week Muslim viewers are turning to Leading The Way’s dedicated follow-up teams to find out how they can know more about Jesus.
One such team member often ministering late into the night is Rahim*. Every week he corresponds with viewers from the Middle East and North Africa via Skype, Facebook, email, text messages, and in-person discipleship meetings, sharing the love of Christ with those who are hungry to know God’s truth.
Some are Muslims who want to know more about the Christian faith, while others have made the dangerous decision to accept Jesus as their Saviour and are in need of spiritual support as they face extreme persecution.
Rahim has faced violent persecution himself and can identify with those who turn to him for help. He was a devoted Muslim until the power of Christian radio helped him find new hope in Christ.
“I was raised in a Muslim family and I was very dedicated to Islamic practices. My father was happy at this time, but I was empty inside,†said Rahim.
He added: “One time when I was searching by radio, I listened to something that was talking about God, and afterwards I see this is Christian radio. This brought problems to me. For the first time I wanted more knowledge about Christianity.
“I began to research the Qur’an and compare between Christianity and Islam, and at this time my perspective to Christianity began to change. I began to understand how the Bible is the Word of God, how Jesus died on the cross about my sin. God is love. This [phrase] didn’t exist in Islam. There is no guarantee in Islam to enter heaven, to have eternal life.â€
Rahim first experienced persecution when he made the decision to accept Jesus in His life, as his own family reacted with violence. “My father asked me, ‘You are becoming Christian?’ I said, ‘Yes.’ It was very terrible, like someone injured his heart. My family didn’t accept this word ‘Jesus is my Saviour’, because they are in darkness. My father and my brother beat me.â€
But as these attacks began, Rahim said that something miraculous took place: “As they were hitting me as hard as they could, I prayed for them, and at this time I didn’t feel anything because Jesus was with me.
“I forgive all of this persecution. If you are in the umbrella of God, the refuge of God, He will protect you. Now we have a peaceful relationship. They say they are seeing the word of God on my life. At this time I began to read the Bible more and more and I requested to study theology. Now I’m doing my Masters on Bible counselling and I serve the Lord in full-time ministry.
“I work for Leading The Way’s follow up team and a lot of Arabic people contact me about faith. There are a lot of amazing stories from Saudi Arabia, from Mecca. I receive calls from Chad, New Zealand, Iraq, Jordan, Yemen, even from Romania.â€
As part of this follow-up ministry, Rahim seeks to connect these new converts to local churches, and through Leading The Way’s Help The Persecuted ministry, many are given practical help from bedding and food supplies to vital grants for urgent medical or travel needs to be reunited with family members.

WAXING LYRICAL
Faith is to be a living, growing, dynamic feature of our walk with our God.FAITH
I wonder why, when 'faith' is an issue,
So often then, we reach for a tissue,
To mop up the tears of doubt you see,
That assail us now, both you and me.
For on the one hand, we trust God with our all,
On the other, human doubt, our faith does stall!
"Will He or wont He?" we are wont to think,
Our faith, once so strong, begins to sink.
"You've always proved faithful to me, my Lord,"
While former blessings, I wish I could hoard!
Each new level requiring greater trust in Him,
Memories of past successes faded, now so dim.
If today's faith was the same as in the past,
Our belief in Him, just simply wouldn't last.
It would just be our own strength that had won,
Not that of our Lord, Jesus Christ the Son.
Now, today's challenge is to break new ground,
Then our faith in Him, it will be truly found.
Oh Lord, please help me in my unbelief!
You've come through again - what a relief!
Put simply, it's the way God's faith works,
Though to our human spirit, it still irks!
So if now, we are to mature and grow,
Trusting Him's, the only way to go!

A DAVID MUSING
Today (Saturday) I learned - once again - a valuable lesson about not judging people by their appearance or size.A big lady came into our Italian re-cherished fashion clothing shop and I immediately thought she would not be able to buy anything, as our clothing generally is suited to those of a slimmer build. Plus she wasn't well dressed. This lady persevered and found numerous items that fitted her and spent $300 odd dollars, one of our biggest ever sales! Thank you Lord.
Particularly today, we increasingly tend to judge people superficially, by how they look. Yet Jesus told us 'not to judge a book by its cover' to use modern idiom, for books were not yet invented in His day!
That wisdom was certainly was reinforced to me today!
So until next week.....
MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOU BLESS GOD
