FROM THE WORD
REST FOR THE WEARY"At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure. “All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.â€" (Matthew 11:25-30)
A SABBATH-REST FOR THE PEOPLE OF GOD
"Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it. For we also have had the gospel preached to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because those who heard did not combine it with faith. Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said, “So I declared on oath in my anger, ‘They shall never enter my rest.’†And yet his work has been finished since the creation of the world. For somewhere he has spoken about the seventh day in these words: “And on the seventh day God rested from all his work.†And again in the passage above he says, “They shall never enter my rest.†It still remains that some will enter that rest, and those who formerly had the gospel preached to them did not go in, because of their disobedience. Therefore God again set a certain day, calling it Today, when a long time later he spoke through David, as was said before: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.†For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience. For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. (Hebrews 4:1-13)
"Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth. This then is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence whenever our hearts condemn us. For God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything." (1 John 3:18-20)

DAVID'S DOODLINGS
GOD'S REST20. God’s rest is a gift, but resting in God a way of life.
21. God’s rest is learned, not earned.
22. God’s rest is free, not earned. Rest in God is also free, but learned.
23. Gods rest is freely given, but rest in God must be freely learned.
24. A believer receives God’s rest, but a disciple rests in God.
309. Man seeks to strive for God. God wants us to rest in Him. Couldn't be easier, couldn't be harder!
310. God's rest is to be sought not only in death, but firstly in life!
311. Lord, teach me not to strive!
312. At work we seek rest. In God we strive to work. Something is wrong here!
313. Resting in God seems too easy to be religious. It is! And it isn't!

LOOKING FOR AN EXPERIENCED VIDEO CAMERA OPERATOR TO COME TO AFRICA
Would you, or someone you know, be willing and able to come to (or already be in) Africa for 7 weeks in October and November (or for part of the time) to film the trip for a series of TV programmes, 'Journey Through Africa'?For the right person, with a ministry heart, one able to cope with heat and simple conditions, it would be the trip of a lifetime!
As at the present time, the trip would need to be self-funded.
This is an opportunity to experience African life and see and record the power of the Holy Spirit in action.
Any ideas? Please email me at this address:

A REVELATION OF....... THE SEVEN REVELATIONS OF 'THE LAMB' Part 1LAMB OF FORGIVENESS
In The Garden of Eden
Our family is about to be 'taken' to a new place in the natural, (written in 2005) shifting to another, nearby city. It will be a new challenge for us, living in a different socio-economic area and assisting in looking after children who have had severe problems in life.
In the spiritual too, I was wondering what to do next, as I came to the end of correcting and editing my final draft of the preceding work in this series, 'A Revelation of … The 3 Kingdom Ages of God'. As I was finalising the last 5 of 155 pages, the Lord just put into my mind this revelation about the Lamb. So now I have my next task!
Here in New Zealand, we have 40 million sheep but only 4 million people! Or 10 sheep per person! Once upon a time we had 60 million sheep and 3 million people. But the prices, particularly for wool have deteriorated over the years. So now, we have increased numbers of cows and fewer sheep.
This aside, sheep, therefore lambs too, play an important part in our economy. As they do in that of God. For the lovely, innocent, fluffy, white, playful lamb, that naturally attracts us humans to it, is used in the Bible as a picture, or type of Jesus. Before He came, while He was here, and after He departed to be again with His father, the lamb is used as a simile or description of Him.
In our country, as there are so many lambs, they tend to become commonplace and undervalued, through familiarity. I pray that this may never be the case with Jesus, the Lamb of God who died to save the world.

***Blessed are those who can laugh at themselves for they shall never cease to be amused****** "Those who can't laugh at themselves leave the job to others." ***
524. CHURCH HOSPITAL
I was going to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne to visit our pastor who had recently broken his arm. The hospital has a large cross above the entrance. Little Jennifer asked, "Why is there a cross there?" When I couldn't come up with an answer, Jennifer (who knew her pastor was there) said, "Probably it's because the hospital is for church people!"
523. REALITY
A Sunday school teacher was telling her class the story of the Good Samaritan, in which a man was beaten, robbed and left for dead.
She described the situation in vivid detail so her students would catch the drama. Then she asked the class, "If you saw a person lying on the roadside all wounded and bleeding, what would you do?"
A thoughtful little girl broke the hushed silence. "I think I'd throw up."

The Granny Smith apple was used as the symbol for the Beatles' Apple Records label. (A Grammy for granny?)
471. MEDIEVAL MUSIC
Scientists have discovered the oldest playable musical instrument in the world, a flute carved from a bird’s wing bone more than 9,000 years ago. The flute was discovered with other flutes at an ancient burial site in China. (A fluke the flute was now found?)
472. A RHYME IN TIME
The game ‘crambo’, in which a person or team must find a rhyme to a word or a line of verse given by another, originated around 1600. The word 'crambo' is derived from the Latin for ‘cabbage’. (A game so funny, not played for money.)

NO OPINIONAn important and very well publicized trial was soon to begin. In preparation for the trial, the tiresome jury selection process took place.
One prospective juror, Douglas was called for his question session. He was asked, "Property holder?" Douglas replied, "Yes, I am, Your Honor."
Then he was asked, "Married or single?" Douglas responded, "Married for twenty years, Your Honor."
Then the judge asked, "Formed or expressed an opinion?" Douglas stated with certainty, "Not in twenty years, Your Honor."
COOKING!
When our second child was on the way, my wife and I attended a pre birth class aimed at couples who had already had at least one child. The instructor raised the issue of breaking the news to the older child. It went like this:
"Some parents," she said, "tell the older child, 'We love you so much we decided to bring another child into this family.' But think about that. Ladies, what if your husband came home one day and said, 'Honey, I love you so much I decided to bring home another wife.'
One of the women spoke up immediately. "Does she cook???"
THE NEW EARS
A man lost both ears in an accident. No plastic surgeon could offer him a solution.
He hears of a very good one in England, and goes to see him. The surgeon examines him, thought a while, and says, "yes, I can help you."
After the operation, bandages off, stitches out, he goes to his hotel. The morning after, in a rage, he calls his surgeon, and yells, "You swine, you gave me a woman's ears!"
"Well, an ear is an ear. It makes no difference whether it is a man's or a woman's." "Are you having problems hearing with your new ears?" asks the Doc.
"No, Doc... I can hear just fine... but I don't understand a thing!"

MANNERS AND CUSTOMS IN BIBLICAL LANDS
FOOD: BREADBread is the principle food of the East, being considered sacred. In some areas, the reverence for bread is so great that people will not rise to greet a guest if they are in the midst of breaking bread together. The guest will have to wait until they are finished. Everything about it, from the sowing to the baking, is done in the name of God.

ASIA: CHINA: NEARLY 2,000 PERSECUTION EVENTS LAST YEAR
A report released by the China Aid Association lists events of persecution in different provinces of China from May 2005 to May 2006. The report shows that 1,958 house church pastors and Christians were affected in 15 provinces across China. Teacher and leadership training events seem to be viewed as particularly threatening by the government officials who seem to aim to control the indoctrination of the next generation of Christians. The central province of Henan was listed as the worst for persecution against house churches with 823 pastors and believers arrested in 11 raids from July 2005 to May 2006. The report shows that police officers and religious affairs cadres often mistreated and tortured the Christian captives. Two women, ages 72 and 21, were forced to strip during questioning. China has about 10 million state-registered Protestants and an estimated 50 to 90 million unregistered "house church" Protestants. WAXING LYRICAL
YOU’RE STILL THERE (Part1 of 2)There are times in life, when all seems lost,
A cork in stormy seas, I’m being tossed,
Battered about from head to toe,
Don’t know how or where to go.
Hurting in every sinew!
Impossible to continue!
Head does burn!
Nowhere to turn?
Run away?
Hey! Hey!
Stop!
Drop!
But surely, you’re still there!
Now really, life is unkind,
No, it’s not just in the mind.
What have I done, this fate to deserve?
For it’s you I’ve tried, always to serve.
It’s not on, Lord, such a fate to befall,
I’ve done my best, have given my all!
But surely, you’re still there!
My thoughts, they just churn away,
Never in one place, will they stay,
Drift in here, shoot out where?
Yes! No! - Lord - it’s not fair!
But surely, you’re still there!
My mind’s in turmoil,
My body in recoil.
But you’re still there.
How useless!
All the stress!
Such a mess!
Can’t you guess?
But you’re still there!
Are you really still there Lord?
You’re still there!

A DAVID MUSING
This week, the reality of going to Africa has started to dawn on me. Not the nice hot weather (it is winter here now) or the lovely people and exciting places to visit, but the fact that I have to write 100 odd ezines before I go! Now, that is a challenge! All in 4 weeks too, as Kathy and I are having a weeks holiday - planned well before the African trip - next week.
There is nothing like a desperate deadline to motivate you, is there!
The keyboard will get a pounding!
Bye. Must run! Can't muck round now!
So until next week...
