NEW YEAR BLESSING
I pray that God will make clear His plans for you for 2009 and that you will be obedient to His desires.THE POWER OF THE CALL (continued)
Today we commence our look at 'The Power of the Call' from the perspective of the people.Since the Industrial Revolution of the 1800's we have promoted the division of labour, splitting jobs into specialised parts so that a task may be achieved in the most efficient way in the shortest time possible.
The classic example of this methodology has been the car production line in which thousands of parts come together in an intricately preplanned manner to produce an almost living organism that is the pride of many a man's heart.
Unfortunately, this specialisation mindset applies to 'religion' too, although in the spiritual world, no matter the religion, the assignment of 'spiritual functions' to a specialist priest, of whatever name, has been the norm from almost the beginning of time.
Why is this?
It is because of sin!
Before Adam and Eve sinned, they walked with God in the garden in the cool of the day (Genesis 3:8). They had an intimate, personal relationship with God as we (hopefully!) have with our spouse.
But sin and purity cannot co-exist. When our forefathers sinned, they were banished from the Garden of Eden, from the direct presence of God. So the LORD God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. (Genesis 3:23)
The story of all religions worldwide since, has been to, in whatever way, to attempt to come back into relationship with the 'supreme being', in whatever form or name is given to him, her or it. As mankind was separated from God through the sin of Adam and Eve, 'reconciliation' has almost always been attempted through an intermediary, a priest, who 'communicates' with God on people's behalf. Many religions have been born as people have attempted to make this reconciliation.
God too, related with His chosen people, The Jews, in this way, through firstly, the priesthood of Melchizedek and then the Aaronic priesthood. However, people being people, Jew and gentile alike, meant that sin continued to get in the way!
Yet God always desired for people to walk in a close, intimate, personal relationship with Him, as had Adam and Eve prior to the fall.
There was only one way of achieving this however. People had to become sinless. But how?
Jesus WAS the answer. Jesus IS the answer. Jesus always WILL BE the answer. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. (Hebrews 13:8)
Through the sacrifice of the perfect man on the cross at Calvary God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. (2 Corinthians 5:19) Hallelujah!
God required a perfect sinless sacrifice in order that individuals who accepted its reality might come back into a personal, intimate relationship with Him.
People say, "surely there are many ways back to God?" While there have been numbers of 'good men' who have tried to make this reconciliation, there has not been a 'perfect sacrifice', other than Jesus. That is why Jesus made the controversial, and often rejected statement today, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)
This foundational truth is, as we will see as we continue, at the heart of 'The Power of the Call', in relation to the people.
There is only one way to God, and that is through Jesus.
(To be continued next week.)

FROM THE WORD
"To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat of it,’ “Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life. It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.†Adam named his wife Eve, because she would become the mother of all the living. The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them. And the LORD God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.†So the LORD God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life." (Genesis 3:17-24)"Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings. It is good for our hearts to be strengthened by grace, not by ceremonial foods, which are of no value to those who eat them. We have an altar from which those who minister at the tabernacle have no right to eat. The high priest carries the blood of animals into the Most Holy Place as a sin offering, but the bodies are burned outside the camp. And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate to make the people holy through his own blood. Let us, then, go to him outside the camp, bearing the disgrace he bore. For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come. Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that confess his name. And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased." (Hebrews 13:7-16)
The Ministry of Reconciliation
"Since, then, we know what it is to fear the Lord, we try to persuade men. What we are is plain to God, and I hope it is also plain to your conscience. We are not trying to commend ourselves to you again, but are giving you an opportunity to take pride in us, so that you can answer those who take pride in what is seen rather than in what is in the heart. If we are out of our mind, it is for the sake of God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you. For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again. So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." (2 Corinthians 5:11-21)
Jesus the Way to the Father
"Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?†Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.†Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.†Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves. I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it." (John 14:5-14)

DAVID'S DOODLINGS
THE CROSS717. The Cross of Jesus points in all ways - up, down and around. There is no way of avoiding it!
718. To deny the Cross is to deny Christ.
719. The miracle of the Cross is that the very best could come out of the very worst.
720. The Cross of Jesus was designed to take life, but ironically served to give life to all who believe.
721. There is still no greater power working in the world today than that of the Cross of Jesus.
722. The devil takes, the Cross gives.
723. Pilate's charge, THIS IS JESUS, THE KING OF THE JEWS was both the present truth and a prophecy yet to be fulfilled.
724. Don't cross the Cross. It will cost you your life!
725. Jesus freely gave His life for us on the Cross. He invites us to freely give our lives back to Him in return.
726. New Zealand has 4 million people and 40 million sheep. Yet, if it weren't for the Cross of Jesus, our sheep numbers would still be insufficient to pay the ongoing cost of sin. For this, the sheep are most grateful to Him!

FACTS FOR FUN
LAST WEEKS QUESTION: Is there violence in Grimm’s fairy tales?ANSWER: More than a little! You may recall that doves peck the eyes out
of Cinderella's stepsisters, that Snow White's step mother arranges a ‘hit’
on her young stepdaughter, and that Sleeping Beauty's suitors bled to
death on the hedge surrounding her castle. And that’s just some!
Grimm’s fairy tales are full of infanticide, murder, mutilation, cannibalism,
and incest. But they're also rich with heroism and adventure and
generally end with the bad guys getting their just desserts. (PC lovers
beware!)
THIS WEEK'S QUESTION: What is the real name of the painting now
known as the ‘Mona Lisa’?
Answer Next Week.
443. HAY POWERED
Licensed London taxis (the famous black cabs) are required by law to carry a bale of hay at all times. This dates from the days of the horse drawn cab and the relevant law has never been revoked. (Travel at the same speed as their earlier counterparts, due to the traffic, but cost heaps more!)
444. A WISE PRECAUTION
It is against the law to remove your shoes if your feet smell bad while you're in a theatre in Winnetka, Illinois, US. (But you have to take them off before you know whether they do smell or not!)
445. CARNIVORES
In fourth century Sparta, in Greece, males 20 years of age and over were required by law to eat 2 pounds of meat a day. It was believed to make one brave. (Well, to gain weight, at least.)

WHAT REALLY HAPPENED IN THE RIOTS IN JOS!
Report from our ministry's representative, Collins Christopher. A man whose judgments I respect and whom I would trust with my life!Everyone who found shelter here as a resulted of the crisis sends there. We are indeed very grateful. A million thanks can not repay you but God will reward you.
I hear the muslims are saying that it is the christians that first attacked them. I hear also that CNN and BBC are helping in propagating this lie. It sound so ridiculious that they can spread such lies in the face of truth. It is evident even the muslms here testify that it was their own brother that started this. It is a know truth glaring to the face of everyone who is a part of this city.
It is evident that all of this was pre planned. If not how can the muslims explain how they came about 500 military and police uniforms that were worn by the youth. Sure all of that was not made in a couple of hours on that fateful friday morning. How come they were in possessions of guns, with which they used to chase christians away from their homes and burnt the homes and their churches. They shoot and killed so many. Matcheted some to death and even used Axe in killing people. Is it not true that as christians we were only fightig with stones and had only God a our defence. This was well planned by the muslims.
The plan was to wipe out the Christian population of Jos city. If not how come their youths with fake military and police uniforms only went to christian dominated area and pretending to protect the people only for them to open fire on defenceless men and women. Killing scores of children and youths. If it was not premeditated, how come they attacked all christian environs at the same time. Why did they start burning churches and burning people.
The truth remain that the city of JOS (Jesus Our Saviour), will remain the centre of the gospel in Northern Nigeria. No amount of threat and killing will make christians give up this city. Muslims from Northern Nigeria must realise that they cannot islamize JOS, God's own city. We are willing to defend this city we are willing to defend our faith.
My brothers and Sisters you must realise that whatever support you have offered us is a contribution to say NO to a forceful islamization of a people against their wish. We are christians and nobody can force us to be muslims nor will we allow muslims to rule us in an area that is owned by and dominated by christians. Your support gives us the strenght to stand for what is true and right before God to stand and uphold our faith.
Let prayer cells be open over where you are let believers lift up their voice to God for us. Let God continue to expose them as is the case. Their conspiracy is so much and I tell you my brothers and sisters your prayers are working as God is confirming them by the day. God is begining to uncover the master minders of this and we will ensure that they do not go unpunished.
We need whatever support we can get. Especialy in the place of spiritual warfare. Please let people stand in the gap for us. We can battle, hunger, we can afford to life outside, we can afford to have no cloth on our back but we cant afford to lose our faith. So you must pray that people do not get weary at this trying time. It is one of the plan of the enemy to make people go weary and surrender and accept to be muslims and be ruled by them.
We must all stand up against in justice. It is wrong to want to enforce your religion on other and kill them if they refuse. We must not surrender the city of Jos to Islam. Doing so is surrendering the spread of the gospel to the core North to islam and it mean death to the spreading of the gospel. Jos remains the center of Christian activity in Northenhe Nigeria, the plan of Islam is to take over Jos. But it will not be, because the gospel must continue to grow. It must spread to other part of Northern Nigeria that is dominated by muslims. Everybody must be a part of this. We muslim take the gospel to the core north. We must not allow Islam to win this war.
Luis Palau and Son Conduct Campaigns in Mexico
Press Release (November 20, 2008)(Oaxaca, Mexico)—World evangelist Luis Palau continues to bring his message of eternal hope and encouragement to millions. His most recent campaign with son and fellow evangelist Andrew Palau took him to the southern state of Oaxaca, Mexico, November 12-15. In a partnership with nearly 350 local churches, they shared the Good News in person with more than 168,000 individuals throughout the region and recorded an amazing 11,193 decisions to follow Jesus Christ.
According to Daniel Gurrion, Oaxaca state representative, "This proved to be the largest evangelistic campaign the region has ever seen." While Palau focused much of his attention on the capital city of Oaxaca, son Andrew spent several days earlier in the week in the coastal city of Huatulco. This was the first Andrew Palau festival held in the country. His father has served Mexico through evangelistic campaigns and gatherings over the last 40 years.
Palau's next major international outreach will be in Guatemala City in March, 2009.

WAXING LYRICAL
Just thinking that I haven't written a poem for quite a while so maybe will have a go now - before I forget how! (Written a year ago)DAVID'S RAMBLINGS
Don't know what to write about.
Something that will have clout.
Should it be all about me?
No! Well - how about thee?
That might be interesting for we all like to hear about ourself,
Particularly it is nice and complementary, off the top shelf.
But the problem is that I don't know you personally, do you see,
So what can I say about you, not knowing if you're she or he!
Time is moving on,
Nearly time it is for bed,
The day is now gone,
The seconds, each has sped.
So what can I say that is of great note?
Before I have to leave, put on my coat.
Go out into the night and wend my way home,
In the darkness, to our wee abode to roam.
My wife Kathy, now she is not there.
Visiting her mother, do not despair,
She will be home tomorrow, I am so sure,
Returning from her travelling adventure.
So now I will go and cuddle the cat.
Oops - recall I can't now do that,
For she died some weeks ago - very sad.
So I'm all by myself; that's very bad.
But no, no, no! I do now remember!
Whether it be April or September,
I have my Jesus with me always you see,
So I wont be lonely, there's He and me.
I hope now, that's true for you too.
In the bed - even when on the loo!
He is a friend upon whom we all can rely,
When you are lonely, give Jesus a try.

2009Running out of time,
Another year's over,
A lemon or a lime?
It's over Rover!
Can't change the past,
Memories will last.
Of good things done,
Others, not begun.
2009's nearly here
Let us be of good cheer,
And not turn the recession,
Into personal depression.
Money may well be tight,
But there's still light,
Jesus is ever on the throne,
No matter how much we groan.
Come into His presence,
Experience the essence,
Of His grace and glory,
In the heavenly story.
"Rest in my goodness,
With thankfulness,
For I am the Lord,
Me you can afford.
I am always here for you,
Will ever see you through,
You're in the palm of my hand,
With me, forever you'll stand.
Come now and rest in me,
One plus one is three,
My love for you is always free,
Accept it, then you will see.
One day the world will end,
Eternity with me to spend,
But now, come build my kingdom here on earth,
You're my precious pearl, beyond all worth."
Until next week...
MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOU BLESS GOD.
