‘THE RAPTURE’ - SATAN’S PLAN OF DECEPTION WITHIN TODAY’S CHURCH (Part 1)
INTRODUCTIONI understand that some readers will look at the headline and immediately delete this ezine from their mailing list! Such is the hold that rapture theory has in the Pentecostal and Charismatic streams of today’s church. Not only has satan infiltrated the church with this unbiblical concept but, in typical fashion, satan has also brought division within it! I am of course referring to the arguments of timing, between ‘pre-tribulation’, ‘mid-tribulation’ and ‘post-tribulation’ believers that have split denominations, churches and believers alike.
The diagram explains the three better than me!
These divisions are particularly found amongst the MALE members of the species, for we seem to have a greater interest in prophecy concerning end time events.
There are so many articles and books written about this general area of ‘ end times’ and it is my experience that not two of them agree! Would this not seem to suggest to you, as it does to me, that these are human rather than Holy Spirit?
Jesus told us that no-one, not even He, but only the Father, knows the time of His return…..
The day and hour unknown
36 ‘But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,[a] but only the Father. 37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.
These arguments commenced even before Jesus died!.....
22 Jesus answered, ‘If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.’ 23 Because of this, the rumour spread among the believers that this disciple would not die. But Jesus did not say that he would not die; he only said, ‘If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you?’ (John 21:22-3)
Can you see how Jesus deflected the end time arguments towards the words….. You must follow me?
FOR JESUS FORESAW THAT MAN CAN SO EASILY CHANGE FOCUS FROM DISCIPLESHIP TO END TIMES.
30 times in the Gospels Jesus talks about the importance of following Him through the sacrifice of the cross, in order to become His disciples. It is summed up here…..
Then Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. (Matthew 16:24)
Years ago I had a friend who focused upon end times, almost as an obsession. When I challenged him about this he quoted the Proverb…..
It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings. (Proverbs 25:2)
He could not understand He was searching for the future impossible, rather than present truths the Holy Spirit desired to share with him that were applicable to living life NOW…..
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. (John 14:26)
While Jesus did describe what would happen in end times In Matthew 24, His emphasis again was on discipleship, upon being ready now, for whenever He does return…..
42 ‘Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: if the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. (Matthew 24:42-44)
OUR CALLING IN LIFE IS TO LIVE NOW AS IF JESUS WAS RETURNING TOMORROW.
(Continued next week)
FROM THE WORD
THE WORDS OF JESUSMay we hear what the Lord is saying to us.
Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:1-7:29, Luke 6:17-49)
The primary ‘life teachings’ of Jesus.
Fulfillment of the Law (Matthew 5:17-20)
“Don’t think I came to abolish the law or the writings of the prophets. I didn’t come to abolish them, but to fulfill them. I assure you, until heaven and earth come to an end, not a single letter, not a single dot of the law will come to an end before everything is fulfilled. So whoever disregards the least important commandment, and teaches people to do so, will be called the least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever practices and teaches the commandments will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. I tell you, unless your righteousness is more than that of the religious teachers and the Pharisees, you can never enter the kingdom of heaven.
Murder (Matthew 5:21-6, Luke 12:58-9)
“You’ve heard that the law said to the people of long ago: ‘You shall not murder, and anyone who commits murder will be condemned as guilty.’ But I tell you, anyone who is angry with his brother will be condemned as guilty. Whoever calls his brother an idiot has to answer to the council, and whoever insults people is liable to the fire of judgment.â€
“If you’re at the altar making an offering, and remember that your brother has something against you, leave your offering on the altar and go and make peace with him first, and afterwards come back and make your offering. While you’re on the way to court with your opponent, make sure you settle things quickly. Otherwise your opponent might hand you over to the judge, and the judge will hand you over to the court official, and you will be thrown into jail. I tell you the truth: you won’t get out of there until you’ve paid every last penny.
Adultery (Matthew 5:27-30)
You’ve heard that the law said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that everyone who looks lustfully at a woman has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye leads you to sin, then tear it out and throw it away, because it’s better to lose one part of your body than to have your whole body thrown into the fire of judgment. If your right hand leads you to sin, then cut it off and throw it away, for it’s better for you to lose one of your limbs than for your whole body to go into the fire of judgment.

BOOK OF THE WEEK
TWENTY-FIVE COMMANDMENTS OF JESUSAS DETAILED IN THE 4 GOSPELS
Not clearly numbered and listed, as in the Old Testament outward Law of the 10 Commandments, these commands are found among the teachings of Jesus in the 4 Gospels, and are available for all who have a heart to seek them.
We all too easily think, with the emphasis that Jesus places on love and forgiveness, that he didn't teach any absolutes. But, as can be seen here, Jesus did place boundaries on believer's behaviour, along with instructions for Godly living.
These are grouped into 3 categories for easier comprehension.
Don't take my word for it! Study the Scriptures!

DAVID'S DOODLINGS
HOLINESS1001. Holiness is not found in living to the letter of the Law, but reflected through the living law of our life.
1002. Holiness is an attitude reflected in behaviour.
1003. Holiness comes, as we let the hold on our lives, go.
1004. The 'Law of Holiness' needs to be written in our hearts and applied through our will.
1005. Holiness grows as we walk hand in hand with Jesus.
1006. Every day is to be a 'holy-day'
1007. Holiness is a way of life, not a doctrine.
1008. Holiness grows as my will goes.
1009. To walk on the path of holiness I need Jesus at my side.
1010. Holiness is tough, but hell, deadly!
1011. Life is a game, living holiness the aim.

395. THE CANNIBAL AND THE PRIEST
A cannibal ate a priest and got very sick. Upon visiting the witch doctor and telling of his symptoms, the witch doctor asked how he had cooked the priest. The cannibal replied that he had broiled him.
Hearing this the witch doctor exclaimed, "Well no wonder you're sick! He was a Friar!"
394. ONE FOR YOU, ONE FOR ME
There was a huge pecan tree in the cemetery, just a short ways from the fence. One day two boys sneaked into the cemetery and filled up a bucket with pecans. The bucket was so full that several pecans rolled away and came to a rest against the cemetery fence.
The two boys then sat down by the tree, out of sight, and began dividing the nuts between them.
"One for you, one for me. One for you, one for me," said one boy.
Cycling down the road near the cemetery came a third boy named Joey. As Joey passed the graveyard, he thought he heard voices from inside the cemetery and slowed down to investigate. Sure enough, Joey heard, "One for you, one for me. One for you, one for me."
Joey immediately knew what was going on. "Oh wow!" he shuddered. "It's Satan and St. Peter dividing the souls at the cemetery!"
Joey sped down the road and found old Mr. Finch with a cane, limping slowly along.
"Come quick!" Joey shouted. "You won't believe what I heard! Satan and St. Peter are down at the cemetery dividing up the souls!"
Mr. Finch scowled and yelled, "Shoo you brat! Can't ya see I'm finding it hard to walk as it is?"
After Joey made several more urgent pleas, Mr. Finch reluctantly hobbled to the cemetery and heard, "One for you, one for me. One for you, one for me."
"Boy, you've been tellin' the truth!" Mr. Finch exclaimed in a whisper. "Let's get closer and maybe we'll get to see the Devil himself."
Shivering with fear, Joey and Mr. Finch edged toward the fence, still unable to see the source of the voices.
Then they heard, "One for you, one for me. And here's another for you and another for me. There, that's the last of them. Now, let's go get those nuts by the fence, and we'll be done."

FACTS FOR FUN
LAST WEEKS QUESTION: Are fish more abundant in cold ocean water or warm water?ANSWER: Most people would guess that ocean life is more abundant in warm water. They'd be wrong. All kinds of marine life - plant and animal - are more abundant in colder waters. Many of the best fishing grounds are found in the coldest places. Why? Cold water holds more dissolved gases, such as oxygen and carbon dioxide, which marine plants need to photosynthesize. The more plant food you have, the more fish and sea mammals you'll see. Antarctic waters are simply teeming with microscopic plankton that attracts whales and fish. (Do fish feel the cold?)
THIS WEEK'S QUESTION: Are there really such things as elephant graveyards?
324. INSIDE OUT?
A day on the planet Mercury is twice as long as its year. Mercury rotates very slowly but revolves around the Sun in slightly less than 88 days. (Would age be measured in days there?)
325. SLOW PROGRESS
A car travelling at a constant speed of 60 miles per hour would take more than 48 million years to reach the nearest star, excluding our Sun, Proxima Centauri. This is about 685,000 average human lifetimes. (How would you find your way back?)
326. A LIN BLOWN UP
A pin-up photo of film star Rita Hayworth adorned the first test bomb dropped on Bikini atoll in the Marshall Islands in July 1946. (Was not half as explosive as Rita herself!)

9. Silence is often misinterpreted but never misquoted.
10. Laugh every day; it's like inner jogging.
11. The most important things in your home are the people.

GREAT GROANERS
95. OF ZERO AND NOTHINGNESSA man was passing a small courtyard and heard voices murmuring.
He went in and saw an altar with a large zero in the middle and a banner that said 'NIL.' White-robed people were kneeling before the altar chanting hymns to The Great Nullity and The Blessed Emptiness.
The man turned to a white-robed observer beside him and asked, "Is Nothing Sacred?"
96. OOPS!
A preacher was called upon to substitute for the regular minister, who had failed to reach the church because he was delayed in a snowstorm. The speaker began by explaining the meaning of substitute.
"If you break a window," he said, "and then place cardboard there instead, that is a substitute."
After the sermon, a woman who had listened intently shook hands with him and wishing to compliment him actually said, "You were no substitute. You were a real pane."
97. THE FAMILIAR
A detective who spent his entire career in plain clothes quit the police force and bought a farm.
"What kind of crops do you plan to grow?" the police chief asked the farmer-to-be.
"Carrots and potatoes," the man replied.
"Why carrots and potatoes?" asked the chief.
"Because," answered the ex-detective, . . . "I'm very fond of undercover crops."
98. IT'S NATURAL
A Polar bear walks into a bar and says to the bartender, "I'll have a gin.........................and tonic."
The Bartender says, "What's with the big pause?"
The bear answers, "I don't know. My father had them, too!"
99. IT'S IN ORDER
A man and his wife were having an argument about who should brew the coffee each morning.
The wife said, "You should do it, because you get up first, and then we don't have to wait as long to get our coffee".
The husband said, " You are in charge of the cooking around here and you should do it, because that is your job, and I can just wait for my coffee."
Wife replies, "No you should do it, and besides it is in the Bible that the man should do the coffee."
Husband replies, " I can't believe that, show me."
So she fetched the Bible, and opened the New Testament and shows him at the top of several pages, that it indeed says ..
"HEBREWS"
100. DISAGREEABLE
A man walks into his doctor's office and says, "Doctor, I've eaten something that disagrees with me."
A voice from the man's stomach says, "No, you haven't."
Great groans abound....
Christians and Hong Kong's Umbrella Movement
Defying TyrannyWhy is China trying to rein in democracy in Hong Kong? Maybe Hong Kong being a hotbed of Christianity has something to do with it.
In early October, Joshua Wong, a 20-year-old student from Hong Kong, flew to Thailand to meet with fellow students in that country. No sooner had he gotten off the plane than he was detained by Thai officials, who were eager to curry Beijing's favor, and then deported back to Hong Kong.
It's not the first time something like this has happened to Wong. As the South China Morning Post put it, Wong "has a habit of visiting countries that deny him entry."
What makes Wong such a persona non grata? Simply put, he's a Christian who's willing to stand up for freedom — and that makes the Chinese communist government in Beijing very nervous.
To understand why, a short history lesson is in order. When Great Britain ceded Hong Kong back to China in 1997, the agreement stated that the principle dubbed "One Country, Two Systems" would govern relations between Hong Kong and mainland China for the next 50 years.
Under this principle, Hong Kong's domestic affairs would be governed by the systems it inherited from Britain. This included freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and, eventually, free elections.
This kind of autonomy made Hong Kong a free, prosperous, and democratic example for the rest of China to compare its lot to, and the Communist Party knew it. Thus, less than 20 years into the agreed-upon 50 years, China began to try and undermine Hong Kong's autonomy by attempting to "pre-screen" candidates in Hong Kong's upcoming elections.
In response, hundreds of thousands of students, in what came to be known as the "Umbrella Movement" because of the use of umbrellas against the tear gas canisters used by police, shut down large parts of the city for the better part of three months.
And that brings me back to Joshua Wong. As the Wall Street Journal reported, while the protests were about democracy there was "an undercurrent of another, much older tension: Between Christianity and Communist China."
As the Journal pointed out, "Christianity has been a visible element of the demonstrations, with prayer groups, crosses, and protesters reading Bibles in the street." Hong Kong's churches played a "quiet but important role in the city's protests, offering food and shelter to demonstrators." And, "At least three of the founders of the main protest groups were Christians," including the then-seventeen-year-old Joshua Wong.
Heightening the tension is Hong Kong's role in spreading Christianity to the rest of China. As the Journal told readers, "Hong Kong churches have long tried to spread Christianity in China. Protestant pastors based in Hong Kong have helped propagate the evangelical brands of Christianity that have alarmed the Chinese leadership in Beijing with their fast growth."
This alarm is why, as I recently explained on BreakPoint, China has been cracking down on Christians lately. The Chinese government sees subverting Hong Kong's autonomy as yet another way of suppressing Christianity.
Christianity is a rejection of, as former Cardinal Joseph Zen put it, "the whole culture which is now reigning in China, a culture of falsity, of dishonesty, a lack of spiritual values."
Wong, a student at a Christian University in Hong Kong, is the face of that rejection. He cites the command to be salt and light and says that Christians have "a more important role in the world other than being just a normal citizen in society who wants to earn money."
This kind of conviction in the face of tyranny is enough to make any tyrant nervous. And it's the kind of conviction we Christians in the West may be called on to display in the years ahead.

A REVELATION OF…….THE SEVEN REVELATIONS OF THE LAMBThe progressive revelation of the character and role of Jesus from Genesis to Revelation
You never know where God is going to take you!
Our family is about to be 'taken' to a new place in the natural, shifting to
another, nearby city. It will be a new challenge for us, living in a different
socio-economic area and assisting in looking after children who have had
severe problems in life.
In the spiritual too, I was wondering what to do next, as I came to the end
of correcting and editing my final draft of the preceding work in this series,
'A Revelation of … The 3 Kingdom Ages of God'. As I was finalising the
last 5 of 155 pages, the Lord just put into my mind this revelation about the
Lamb. So now I have my next task!
Here in New Zealand, we have 40 million sheep but only 4 million people!
Or 10 sheep per person! Once upon a time we had 60 million sheep and 3
million people. But the prices, particularly for wool have deteriorated over
the years. So now, we have increased numbers of cows and fewer sheep.
This aside, sheep, therefore lambs too, play an important part in our
economy. As they do in that of God. For the lovely, innocent, fluffy, white,
playful lamb, that naturally attracts us humans to it, is used in the Bible as
a picture, or type of Jesus. Before He came, while He was here, and after
He departed to be again with His father, the lamb is used as a simile or
description of Him.
In our country, as there are so many lambs, they tend to become
commonplace and undervalued, through familiarity. I pray that this may
never be the case with Jesus, the Lamb of God who died to save the world.
May God bless you, and you bless God.
His servant and yours,
David Tait

WAXING LYRICAL
An introduction to the weird world of David Tait! You may like him (me – this isconfusing!) or you may not, but he (I!) is what he is. (I am!) At Least as I was 20 years ago!
'TIS ME'
’Tis me, David John is the name,
Born for business to be my game.
For 30 odd years, I did give it a go,
Often successful, other times low.
Ten years ago now, it collapsed all around,
Misery in my life, did plentifully abound.
So I gave my heart to the Lord, you see,
For by now, I had come to the end of me.
In the time since then,
My God I have sought and fought,
In these years of ten,
He has of me, taught and caught!
He restored me in the business world.
At the same time, my desires He curled.
Now he has me writing this book,
I trust you find it worth the look.
David John is the one I would like to be,
A ‘King David’ with a heart after his God,
If only the Lord would say the same of me,
A real sinner, but still worthy of his nod.
The Apostle John too, has a special place,
In the shadow of Jesus, he did run his race.
Given revelation of our heavenly destiny,
Proved his love for Jesus was a reality.
Now when God gives you a book to write,
Should you show yourself in the best light?
Surely people, God won’t want to offend,
Our image, it’s all-important in the end.
But my friend, that is not my style,
Sweet savours, my readers to beguile.
To be honest, revealing warts and all,
For me, that has always been the call.
I’m far from being the perfect man,
If I were, God wouldn’t need a plan.
Not needing to turn me around, into his image,
Life would be boring for Him, or so I envisage!
For spiritual gifts are given, as He does choose,
Yes, they are ours for life, them we never lose.
Even at times when our behaviour,
Does not do honour to the Saviour!
When I look at the television or stage,
And see the perfect person, strutting their stuff,
I begin to wonder, with the benefit of age,
Is it really God, or are they calling my bluff!
The fruit of the Spirit on the other hand,
Need to be worked at, with Him to stand.
Not just for a splendid hour on the podium,
But in all actions, we are to show no odium.
No, not all can be good looking, I’m certainly not!
But the fruit of the Spirit, we are to display the lot.
For it is in the life we lead from day to day,
The depth of our commitment, we’ll display.
So when I come to read a book,
I always want to take a real look,
At the life of the person who pushes the pen,
What is he thinking, while writing in his den?
Now here you will find David’s Musings,
Over which I have taken some ‘abusings’!
Why are you focusing on yourself? Some do say,
Others, revealing yourself, a dangerous game to play!
But life is a journey my friend,
To be run out to the very end.
To see where I’m at, on the way through,
Will I trust, be of some benefit to you.
Now you may well not, be used to my style,
I have many faults, not just one in a while!
Have endeavoured to be as open as I can be,
What you see here, good and bad, it’s reality!
I normally seek to build a logical case,
On which my conclusions, then to base.
So if at the start, you know you’ve heard it all before,
Don’t give up! By the end, there’s far more in store!
As you read through, you may notice some change,
Being young in the Lord, I am to give him full range,
So if you aren’t too keen on the person you first meet,
Read on, by the end, you may find a new one to greet.
So now, that is a little of the story of my life,
For the full version, you need to ask the wife!
One day I hope we will meet in Heaven,
All our failings healed, no sin, no leaven!
