A TESTIMONY OF ADDRESS KEEPING - AND MORE!
Dear Friends,
We are not sure who gave you our E mail address but we have been receiving your weekly articles for some time and have thoroughly enjoyed reading them.
March 5th we received the last one with a note stating the above E mail address. We have not received one this week, do we need to reapply or what?
We came to Greenland as missionaries in Sept '90. It can be a lonely life as there are few believers here so we appreciate the articles you send that are an encouragement to us in a work that can be very discouraging at times as we see very few interested in the message of the Bible.
Please let us know how we can continue to receive your weekly letters.
With thanks, Jørund & Linda Hansen.
GOD'S CALLING HIS CHURCH 3: FROM REVIVAL TO HABITATION
Over the centuries since the Reformation, there have been thousands of Revivals. They have had many similarities and lots of differences, but all have one feature in common - each and every one has come to an end! Why is this? Some would say that the intensity is so great that we cannot cope with revival for more than a certain time. Or that the Holy Spirit does His work and leaves.
But the key reason, seemingly common to all, is that revivals die when the people involved start to organise them, instituting a system to organise their behaviour. For leaders gain an understanding of how the Spirit moves in their situation, through experience, and expect Him to continue that way, formalising, yes, institutionalizing 'the method', to help the Holy Spirit out!
This is a natural human trait. Even the great man Moses, fell into this trap when he hit the rock to obtain water, for that method had worked for him previously. This last time though, he was instructed to speak to the rock. His human based reaction, even though triggered by a time of great stress in dealing with a difficult people, so disappointed God that Moses was prevented from entering the Promised Land.
As well, people soon focus on the 'experience' of the supernatural rather than the repentance and life change that is at the heart of the Holy Spirit's desire for each one of us during revival. They will travel large distances for a 'touch from the Lord' rather than being listening to the Lord seeking the changes He desires to make in their lives. Revivals start with repentance, but fizzle out when people look more to the manifestations than to the giver.
One minister I know travelled many thousands of kilometres to Toronto where he had a great time experientially. While there, the Lord ministered to Him very clearly about his treatment of his wife. Coming back home, he testified of what the Lord had said. Those who knew him understood the accuracy of the Lord's word, yet nothing changed in 'life with the wife'! Since that time his ministry has reduced considerably. You be the judge as to why?
Our God is seeking more. He is seeking a people who will listen to Him! Those who are prepared to make changes in their lives as and when He requires. Ones who will be obedient to His will. Those who will willingly repent of old ways and be willing to change their behaviour to become more like Jesus, no matter the cost. To overcome pride, to move out of the comfort zone of learned behaviour.
Ironically, I have been challenged this week, in an area of my life. Let me assure you, it isn't easy to change! Particularly when it is a behaviour you have grown up with from your youth, one which is a part of you and who you are. But change is essential if we are to grow into the character of Jesus.
The Holy Spirit earnestly desires to to be of influence in our lives, to teach us, guide us, to help us change, on an ongoing basis, yesterday, today and forever! While we can't influence yesterday's behaviour, other than repenting of our actions, today is a new day. The question the Holy Spirit gently asks each one is whether we will let Him 'inhabit' our lives. Are we prepared to give ourselves fully and completely to our Lord, doing His will for us, today and forever. Living in permanent personal revival each and every day, establishing His spiritual kingdom within us, preparing for the glorious day when He returns to establish His physical kingdom in which to rule and reign with His overcoming disciples for 1000 years.
PRINCIPLE 3: God is calling out to Himself today a people prepared to allow the Holy Spirit to inhabit and change their lives on an ongoing basis.
"But Lord, it is so much easier to stay as I am! I am comfortable with me!" "But David, are you like me then?" "Ah, well Lord...... no! Okay Lord, I take the hint!"

FROM THE WORD
WATER FROM THE ROCK"In the first month the whole Israelite community arrived at the Desert of Zin, and they stayed at Kadesh. There Miriam died and was buried. Now there was no water for the community, and the people gathered in opposition to Moses and Aaron. They quarreled with Moses and said, “If only we had died when our brothers fell dead before the LORD! Why did you bring the LORD’s community into this desert, that we and our livestock should die here? Why did you bring us up out of Egypt to this terrible place? It has no grain or figs, grapevines or pomegranates. And there is no water to drink!†Moses and Aaron went from the assembly to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting and fell facedown, and the glory of the LORD appeared to them. The LORD said to Moses, “Take the staff, and you and your brother Aaron gather the assembly together. Speak to that rock before their eyes and it will pour out its water. You will bring water out of the rock for the community so they and their livestock can drink.†So Moses took the staff from the LORD’s presence, just as he commanded him. He and Aaron gathered the assembly together in front of the rock and Moses said to them, “Listen, you rebels, must we bring you water out of this rock?†Then Moses raised his arm and struck the rock twice with his staff. Water gushed out, and the community and their livestock drank. But the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them.†These were the waters of Meribah, where the Israelites quarreled with the LORD and where he showed himself holy among them. (Numbers 20:1-13)
JESUS PROMISES THE HOLY SPIRIT
"“If you love me, you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.â€"(John 14:15-21)
"Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." (Hebrews 13:7-8)
THE THOUSAND YEARS
"And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time. I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy are those who have part in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years. (Revelation 20:1-6)

DAVID'S DOODLINGS
RELIGION, REVELATION AND GOD'S KINGDOM: 31032. Religion creates its own standard mould of monotonous mediocrity. God breaks moulds!
1033. Religion is centred upon man, the kingdom, upon God.
1034. Religion is the outcome of the institutionalisation of a God given vision.
1035. Religion is based upon rules, God's kingdom upon obedience.
1036. Religion seeks to control the Spirit of God which His kingdom releases.
1037. Religion controls, God's kingdom releases.
1038. Religion seeks to define an infinite God. By definition, it is doomed to failure.
1039. Religion seeks to interpret the answers to life found in God's kingdom. Surely a direct approach is best.
1040. As religion goes, God's kingdom grows.
1041. Revelation and religion make incompatible companions.

FROM YOU - TO ME - TO YOU
Blessings David in Messiah,It is so heartening to see the progression of change in your heart and thinking as the Spirit of The Holy One works in you. I praise Him for these changes in me as well. Over the past two years I have been using a Bible translated from the Hebrew writings rather than the Greek with confirmations on scripture from Aramaic and Masoretic texts as well. The diifferences while not appearing to be huge actually in many cases show the thinking from a Hebrew perspective which is often revelatory in context. i find now that the mysteries of God are being opened to me and that He is actually writing His ordinances on my heart. It has changed my life to the point that often now I realise that i am a compeltely different and changed person. I had for some time desired to try and understand exactly what Jesus meant in His parables and teachings and what was Paul and indeed the other apostles, actually saying, and when we look at scripture from a Hebrew perspective or state of mind things that were hard to understand become crystal clear. I'm not saying we must all rush out and learn the Hebrew language although I have purchased an interactive CD Rom for that purpose but I do know that the Hebrew mindset and thinking is very much different to our Western thought.
Thank you for your writings and don't worry about the beard, only the sons of Aaron, the priests are required to grow them. That makes you Ok and my wife very happy as she hates one on me.

Hi David
Appreciate your pdf on the Character of God and whilst reading the Will of God section, I remembered what I'd read recently, so quote
it here for you -
from NEW BIBLE DICTIONARY - 1962, IVF, page 476
"The will of God expressed primarily His attribute of self-determination by which He acts in accordance with His eternal power and Godhead. Though God's will cannot be said to be limited in any sense, His perfections ensure that He will never do anything that is incompatible with His nature. Theologians distinguish between the DECRETIVE WILL OF GOD, by which He decrees whatsoever comes to pass, and HIS RECEPTIVE WILL by which He enjoins upon His creatures the duties that belong to them. In the light of this definition it can be understood that the decretive will is always accomplished, while the preceptive will is often disobeyed."
ETC
I find this quite enlightening !

CRANWELL'S CARTOON
17 When Moses sent them to explore Canaan, he said, “Go up through the Negev and on into the hill country. 18 See what the land is like and whether the people who live there are strong or weak, few or many. 19 What kind of land do they live in? Is it good or bad? What kind of towns do they live in? Are they unwalled or fortified? 20 How is the soil? Is it fertile or poor? Are there trees on it or not? Do your best to bring back some of the fruit of the land.†(It was the season for the first ripe grapes.) 21 So they went up and explored the land from the Desert of Zin as far as Rehob, toward Lebo Hamath. 22 They went up through the Negev and came to Hebron, where Ahiman, Sheshai and Talmai, the descendants of Anak, lived. (Hebron had been built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.) 23 When they reached the Valley of Eshcol, they cut off a branch bearing a single cluster of grapes. Two of them carried it on a pole between them, along with some pomegranates and figs. 24 That place was called the Valley of Eshcol because of the cluster of grapes the Israelites cut off there. 25 At the end of forty days they returned from exploring the land. (Numbers 13:17-25)

***Blessed are those who can laugh at themselves for they shall never cease to be amused****** "Those who can't laugh at themselves leave the job to others." ***
477. NOTHING THERE
Three friends decided to go hunting together. One was a lawyer, one a doctor, and the other a preacher. As they were walking, along came a big buck. The three of them shot simultaneously. Immediately the buck dropped to the ground and all three rushed up to see how big it actually was. Upon reaching it they found out that it was dead but had only one bullet hole.
Thus a debate followed concerning whose buck it was. 5 minutes later a game officer came by and asked what the problem was. The doctor told him their reason for the debate. The officer told them he would take a look and tell them who shot it. 5 seconds later he said he knew who shot the buck. He said with much confidence, "The pastor shot the buck!" They all wondered how he knew that so quickly. The officer said, "Easy. The bullet went in one ear and out the other."
476. THE HOLIDAY
Two priests were going to Hawaii on vacation and decided that they would make this a real vacation by not wearing anything that would identify them as clergy. As soon as the plane landed, they headed for a store and bought some really outrageous shorts and shirts, sandals, sunglasses, etc.
The next morning, they went to the beach, dressed in their "tourist" garb and were sitting on beach chairs, enjoying a drink, the sunshine and the scenery when a "drop dead" gorgeous blonde in a tiny bikini came walking straight toward them. They couldn't help but stare and when she passed them she turned to them, smiled and said, "Good morning, Father; good morning, Father" nodding and addressing each of them individually, then passed on by. They were both stunned - how in the world did she recognize them as priests?
The next day they went back to the store, bought even more outrageous outfits - these were so loud, you could hear them before you even saw them - and again they settled on the beach in their chairs to enjoy the sunshine, etc. After a while, the same gorgeous blonde, wearing a string bikini this time, came walking toward them again. (They were glad they had sunglasses, because their eyes were about to pop out of their heads). Again, she approached them and greeted them individually: "good morning, Father; good morning, Father" and started to walk away.
One of the priest couldn't stand it and said, "just a minute young lady. Yes we are priests, and proud of it, but I have to know, how in the world did YOU know?" "Oh Father, don't you recognize me?. ................ I'm Sister Kathryn"

FACTS FOR FUN
LAST WEEKS QUESTION: Is it possible for twins to have different fathers?ANSWER: Yes. There have been several documented cases of women giving birth to twins who had different fathers, including cases where the children were of different races. To do so, the mother had to have conceived both children in close proximity. There has also been one recent case where a mother gave birth to unrelated ‘twins’. In that instance, the mother underwent in vitro fertilisation and had her own child and the embryo of another couple accidentally implanted in her. (Possible, but not the way God planned it.)
PS: The photo is of our grandchildren. Nathan and Charis, the twins, are with their elder sister Eva. They live in Aberdeen, Scotland with their parents, Andrew and Catriona.

MANNERS AND CUSTOMS IN BIBLICAL LANDS
ANOINTING GUESTSThis custom is an ancient one in the East. Olive oil may be used by itself, but often is mixed with spices. Simon the Pharisee was accused of being inhospitable for not anointing Jesus (Luke 7:46). King David memorialised the custom in Psalm 23, when he said, "You anoint my head with oil."

FAITH REVOLUTIONARIES STAND OUT FROM THE CROWD: Part 2
March 6, 2006(Ventura, CA) – The controversy fueled by George Barna’s current best-seller, Revolution, has raised many questions about the nature of the people the California-based researcher labels “revolutionaries.†Defined as born again people who have made their faith in God the highest priority in their life, who believe that their faith has greatly transformed their life, and who often express and experience their faith through alternative forms the Church, Barna this week released additional data about the beliefs, practices and lifestyle of revolutionaries in comparison to those who fit a more tame spiritual profile.
Revolutionaries possess some attributes that fail to distinguish them from other born again Christians. For instance, they are just as likely to embrace new technology, view movies just as often, a similar proportion of them are overweight, and equivalent percentages of the two groups consider themselves to live a simple life, to feel at peace, and to be in control of their life. Even in the spiritual realm, they have identical profiles when it comes to the frequency of fasting and how often they talk to non-believers about faith matters.
However, Barna also outlined four areas in which revolutionaries are substantially different than other born again adults, and vastly different from adults who are not born again.
Beliefs Differ
Barna also pointed out that the startling difference in behavior between the two segments of the born again population is largely affected by their divergent beliefs. “Revolutionaries have a very different, faith-driven lifestyle,†according to Barna, “because they are more likely to take the Bible at face value, to feel a deep and genuine gratitude for what Jesus did for them on the cross, and because their beliefs lead them to attempt to be the manifestation of God’s kingdom on earth. Your behavior is a result of what you believe, and the manner in which revolutionaries live corresponds to a Bible-centered perspective on life.â€
Once again, the differences between the two groups are unmistakable.
# Almost all revolutionaries (97%) strongly affirm “the Bible is totally accurate in all of the principles it teaches.†Far fewer non-revolutionary born again adults (65%) join them in that perspective.
# Whereas eight out of ten revolutionaries believe that there is absolute moral truth, barely half as many of the non-revolutionary born again adults (43%) concur.
# The passion of revolutionaries is partially fueled by their belief that Satan is real. Two out of every three (65%) firmly argue that Satan is real and affects people’s lives; just one out of every three non-revolutionary born again adults (35%) buys that point of view.
# The importance of obedience to God’s commands and principles is driven home by the finding that two-thirds of revolutionaries (67%) strongly believe that “success in life is determined only by your obedience to God.†In contrast, a minority of the non-revolutionary born again adults (42%) embrace that thinking.
# Despite being unfairly criticized as “isolated†and “independent,†this research found that revolutionaries are more tuned in to the importance of community in spiritual life. Not only do they have a wider net of faith-based personal relationships that affects their spiritual development, but they believe that someone cannot become a “complete and mature†follower of Christ without being personally involved in a spiritual community. While four out of ten revolutionaries strongly endorse this notion, only half as many (21%) of the non-revolutionary born again adults do so.
# While a startling percentage of the non-revolutionary born again adults agrees that a good person can earn their salvation (even though they contend that their own salvation was based on grace, not good works), a large majority of revolutionaries (75%) strongly rejects the works-based or multiple-means-to-salvation arguments. (Only 44% of the non-revolutionary born again adults strongly asserts that salvation can never be earned.)

YOU’RE STILL THERE
A similar theme to the first poem I wrote, eight years earlier, in another time of trouble. Hopefully though, this one expresses a more mature faith. You be the judge. I know I am coping with the problems more easily now, knowing for sure that God is on myside.
YOU’RE STILL THERE
There are times in life, when all seems lost,
A cork in stormy seas, I’m being tossed,
Battered about from head to toe,
Don’t know how or where to go.
Hurting in every sinew!
Impossible to continue!
Head does burn!
Nowhere to turn?
Run away?
Hey! Hey!
Stop!
Drop!
But surely, you’re still there!
Now really, life is unkind,
No, it’s not just in the mind.
What have I done, this fate to deserve?
For it’s you I’ve tried, always to serve.
It’s not on, Lord, such a fate to befall,
I’ve done my best, have given my all!
But surely, you’re still there!
My thoughts, they just churn away,
Never in one place, will they stay,
Drift in here, shoot out where?
Yes! No! - Lord - it’s not fair!
But surely, you’re still there!
Read on here to see how it all worked out...

Sometimes you have a week with an event that affects your life. This is good or bad, whatever the case may be!This week however, has seen a number of significant events for me! From great, making new friends, to sad, for our friend Camille finally succumbed to her battle with cancer, (please remember her husband Wayne, and the Green and Troughton families in prayer) to challenging, over a personal issue, to rewarding, when we received a financial blessing for the ministry.
What a week it was! Just as well Kathy and I are going to get a holiday at the end of this week! Our first together in 2 years. We are looking forward to visiting friends and just relaxing. After the last week I need it!
So until next week, when we will come to you from the city of Christchurch in the South Island of New Zealand, a city we haven't visited for over 20 years...
Photo is of Camille and Wayne. What a witness for God to us all they both have been throughout the tragedy that struck their lives.

Today's 'Word Puzzle' Answer: INFRINGE
TODAY'S 'DO YOU KNOW?' ANSWER: c. It is inspired by God, but written by various human authors. The Christian Bible consists of two parts: The Old Testament and the New Testament. Each of these sections contains many books written by various human authors, many of whom are unknown. Christians believe all the ancient writings of the Bible were inspired by God, and tell the story of God's progressive revelation to His people.

(John 17:12, 21, 23-4) Our website is currently being developed to encourage your participation one with another, to share resources, and to enable you to promote events and items of interest to the body as a whole – and have a smile while doing it!
