TWENTY-FIVE COMMANDMENTS OF JESUS
Not clearly numbered and listed, as in the Old Testament outward Law of the 10 Commandments, they are found among the teachings of Jesus in the 4 Gospels, and are available for all who have a heart to seek them.We all too easily think, with the emphasis that Jesus places on love and forgiveness, that he didn't teach any absolutes. But, as can be seen here, Jesus did place boundaries on believer's behaviour, along with instructions for Godly living.
I have grouped these into 3 categories for easier comprehension.
Don't take my word for it! Study the Scriptures!

WHOSE CHURCH IS IT ANYWAY?
THE POST APOSTOLIC CHURCHThe major question now is, "where is the church of the 21st Century heading".
Fourteen years into the new century, it is becoming more apparent that God is 'doing a new thing'. But as we have seen over the past 2000 years, through the Dark Ages, the Reformation and the Holy Spirit revivals of the 20th century, the Holy Spirit will always be to the fore of what transpires.
Regrettably from a human perspective, all past movements of the Holy Spirit have come to an end, primarily because man has codified them and taken over. Like Moses, the world's humblest man and the closest to God before Jesus, when he hit the rock, (which he had done successfully before to bring water), rather than talk to it as God had instructed him to do,(Numbers 20:13) man has always seemingly known better than God. This cost Moses the opportunity to take the Israelites into the Promised Land.
So where do we go from here? What is God doing here and now, and into the future.
THE CHALLENGE OF..... LIVING THE KINGDOM LIFESTYLE
To conclude this series on the history of the church, past, present and likely future from a Holy Spirit anointing perspective, I will finish, over the weeks ahead, by looking at the 'Parables of Jesus' which set out the principles of living a kingdom lifestyle.
The relevant Scriptures can be accessed by clicking on the blue links.
PARABLE OF THE SOWER
Hope you are not going to get too mixed up with my logic here! For we will look at the parables in alphabetical order, except for this one! And with this one, we will first look at the middle, before considering the beginning and the end! Please bear with me, for all will be revealed! (No, that is not a parable!)
The Parable of the Sower is a key parable, not only for its contents, but because Jesus took the opportunity here to explain what a parable is. Hence why we are starting in the middle.
Matthew 13:10-17
Jesus made several points here that will help us understand the parables better.
1. Nearly all the parables are about the kingdom of heaven and the parables are all about the kingdom of heaven!
2. Knowledge about the kingdom is restricted in its distribution.
3. This knowledge is given on an 'all or nothing' basis.
4. Unbelievers will neither understand the parables, nor the kingdom lifestyle.
5. Those who do understand, and live the lifestyle, will receive a special blessing that would be the envy of many prophets and righteous people from Old Testament times.
We are so privileged to live in a time in history when the secrets of the kingdom have been revealed to those who wish to respond. This has been the case for the past 2000 years.
Today however, we are doubly blessed. For in the ongoing pattern of God since the Reformation, which has seen the gradual restoration of truths (eg. personal faith, believer baptism, Holy Spirit anointing, healing, spiritual gifts, etc.) lost from the end of the first apostolic age (from the time of the death of the apostle John), we are now experiencing the revelation that the kingdom is not only future, but also to be a present reality today.
When I was a boy, before I even believed, I could not understand the Lord's (Disciples) Prayer when it said;
Matthew 6:10
I was taught that it was future, but even then, had my doubts about that. For it seemed, even then in my innocence, to be worded as much in the present as in the future, along with the other petitions of the prayer. Today, I am grateful (and relieved!) to see that there is a new and growing revelation amongst many, many, dedicated believers that 'the kingdom is for now' too.
This is both a privilege and a responsibility! Yes, there is a great blessing but along with the blessing comes a responsibility to live out the revelation of the kingdom lifestyle. But if your heart desire is to experience more of your Saviour and Lord;
Matthew 7:7
Amen.
Farming was the main occupation of the Jews of the time. Therefore they would have understood, in the natural, what Jesus was saying, more easily than many of us today do. Even so, Jesus explained in detail what this parable meant.
Matthew 13:18-23
Can we lose our salvation? Apparently so. As confirmed here.
Mark 13:13
We need to nurture our faith carefully, to ensure that our seed is sown in the good soil. We choose our own soil in which to be planted! To produce a good crop we need to persevere in our faith.
Hebrews 10:36
We also need an understanding of what we believe in order to remain firm in our faith. 'There is nothing as blind as blind faith!' A David's Doodling here!
1 Timothy 6:3-10
What soil are you planted in? Fortunately, in the spiritual, it is never to late to ask for a transplant!
As we saw earlier, Jesus explained what this particular parable meant. However, this does not mean that there is no more meaning to be found in it. The understanding that Jesus revealed was for the people at the time. This does not mean that his revelation was complete for all time. The Holy Spirit can still bring additional revelation and understanding from age to age.
I would like to suggest to you 2 understandings of the final part of the parable, the crops from the good soil. That is us - believers. On an individual level it shows that there are of crop production, of fruit, in believers. Not all believers are the same. Some produce more than others. Some display the fruit of the Spirit more than others.
There has been a 'democratic' teaching over the years that all we need to do is to pray the 'sinners prayer' (not found in the Bible!) and all will be well. We can live how we like and we will get to heaven and live there in the same way as the martyr or greatest saint who has ever lived. Easy Christianity - but false. The whole emphasis of the Bible and understanding of the Jewish culture is that we must live what we believe. Judgment will come, for believer and unbeliever alike.
Revelation 20:12
The works we do are recorded in the book of life and we are rewarded accordingly. Some produce 30, some 60, and some 100 fold crops. Are you a 30 fold, 60 fold or 100 fold follower of Jesus?
In regard to the church, there can be seen a progressive pattern of development. This development is in terms of revelation and understanding the church of a particular time. Gods pattern is always to work in threes - from Father, Son and Holy Spirit through to faith, hope and love and many, many more.
So it is with the church. There is a 3 fold revelation which relates to the 3 crop yields Jesus talks about in this parable.
1. 30 FOLD CHURCH: A church, or group of people with the revelation of Jesus, but who choose to stop there. Baptism is fine, but we will not get involved with any more. Often known as traditional or evangelical churches.
2. 60 FOLD CHURCH: A church, or group of people with the revelation of Jesus but who also accept the moving of the Holy Spirit as being of importance to them. These are known as pentecostal or charismatic churches.
3. 100 FOLD CHURCH: A church, or group of people with the revelation of Jesus but who also accept the moving of the Holy Spirit and the lordship of Jesus in their lives. Whose purpose for being is to be obedient to the will of the Father in their lives. This church, which is being revealed today has tentatively many names such as third day, apostolic, tabernacle, the bride, overcomers, and more. It is generally informal, as it consists of people of like mind, with a spiritual unity not found in formal organisations.
Does this excite you? It does me!

THE WORDS OF JESUS continuedThe Lord has asked me to compile a publication of the words Jesus spoke, as recorded in the New Testament in chronological order.
Of course, it is not a Bible substitute! I Hope you find it helpful too, in your walk with Jesus.
Jesus Comforts the Disciples (John:14:1-31)
In general.
“Don’t let your minds be anxious. Trust in God, trust in me as well. In my Father’s house there are many rooms. If this wasn’t so I would have told you. I’m going to prepare a place for you. Once I’ve gone and prepared a place for you, I will come again and take you with me, so that you can be there with me too. You know the way to where I’m going.â€
To Thomas.
“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and you have seen him.â€
To Philip
“Have I been with you such a long time, Philip, and yet you still don’t know me? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Don’t you believe that I live in the Father and the Father lives in me? The words I speak are not mine; it’s the Father living in me who is doing his work. Believe me when I tell you that I live in the Father, and the Father lives in me, or at least believe because of the evidence of all that I’ve done.
“I tell you the truth, anyone who trusts in me will do the same things I am doing. In fact they will do even greater things because I am going to the Father. I’ll do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified through the Son. Whatever you ask for in my name, I will do it.
If you love me, you will keep my commands. I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Comforter, the Spirit of truth, who will always be with you. The world cannot accept him because it isn’t looking for him and does not know him. But you know him because he lives with you and will be in you.
“I will not abandon you like orphans: I will come back to you. Soon the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you will live too. On that day you will know that I live in the Father, you live in me, and I live in you. Those who keep my commands are the ones who love me, those who love me will be loved by my Father. I will love them too, and will reveal myself to them.â€
To Judas (not Iscariot)
“Those who love me will do as I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with them. Those who don’t love me don’t do what I say. These words don’t come from me, they come from the Father who sent me.
“I’m explaining this to you while I’m still here with you. But when the Father sends the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, in my place, he will teach you everything and remind you of all that I told you.
“Peace I leave you; my peace I’m giving you. The peace I give you is nothing like what the world gives.
Don’t let your minds be anxious, and don’t be afraid.
“You’ve heard me tell you, ‘I am going away, but I will come back to you.’ If you really loved me, you would be happy because I’m going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. I’ve explained this to you now before it happens so that when it does happen you will be convinced. I can’t talk to you much longer, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no power to control me, but I’m doing what my Father told me to do so that the world will know that I love the Father.
Now get up. Let’s go.â€

DAVID'S DOODLINGS
AUTHORITY1126. Godly authority is grown through brokenness.
1127. True godly authority is not based on position in the priesthood but in the submission of ones life to God's will.
1128. God's authority pyramid is a mirror image of the world's, with Jesus placed at the bottom as the greatest servant of all.
1129. All God's great leaders have first paid the price of trial, testing, hardship and disappointment in order to be moulded into God's image. Are we prepared to pay the price?
1130. Earthly authority points upwards to glory and power, godly authority downwards to servanthood and sacrifice.
1131. True authority is not man appointed but God designated.
1132. There is only one true authority in all things - Jesus! Through the Holy Spirit and the Word!
1133. Satan uses humans desire for power and position to his advantage, in order to thwart the full flow of the authority of the Holy Spirit to individual believers.
1134. One of the biggest problems in the church today is that of the many leaders who claim an authority not given by God.
1135. Authority rests not with position but in God's anointing.
1136. Godly authority is invested, not in the proud, but in the humble of heart. Ask Moses!
1137. Worldly authority comes with position, godly authority is shown by example.
1138. There are more titles and positions of authority per believer in the church than in the world. This could well mean that the church is worldlier than the world!
1139. The new Testament is based upon the authority of the priesthood of believers, not that of priests.

THE WORLD'S GREATEST PROBLEM!!!!! (Next to not knowing Jesus)
AN OBSERVATION FROM OUR TRIP TO FIJIHaving just returned from Fiji this week, it is appropriate to mention, after the case studies of Dr Grant Schofield, that I noticed the same pattern there.
The resort we stayed at was next door to a typical Indian village. The people there fished, foraged and grew crops for their food. Their village shops had a limited range of processed foods and these were regarded as a luxury, rather than everyday fare. While rich in resources, they were poor in terms of money.
Most of the people were slim.
When visiting the capital city of Suva however, the story was quite different. The people worked for wages and purchased their (mainly processed) foods largely from the modern, bustling supermarkets. And they were big! Or more accurately, fat! For they love canned corn beef and frozen lamb flaps (mainly fat), along with chips, soft drinks etc., that we consume in copious quantities in the West. Sadly with the same result!
How is my weight loss going? Well, there is now 9kg (20lbs) less of me than there was. Probably about 3-4kg to go. So I am making progress. Would like to lose another 6cm (3") or so round the waist yet but, as explained earlier, this is the last and most difficult to get rid of! Then to keep it off! It is a battle for all of us, isn't it? But it can be done.
PS: Comments are welcomed and appreciated.

99. THE FIRST SUNDAY SCHOOL LESSON
One Sunday after church the mother asked her very young daughter what her lesson had been about. Her daughter answered "Don't be scared, you'll get your quilts."
Needless to say, the mother was perplexed.
Later in the day, when the Pastor stopped by for tea, the mother asked him what that morning's Sunday school lesson had been about. The pastor said, "Be not afraid, thy comforter is coming."
98. CONDIMENTS PLEASE
The Sunday school teacher was carefully explaining the story of Elijah the Prophet and the false prophets of Baal. She explained how Elijah built the altar, put wood upon it, cut the steer in pieces and laid it upon the altar.
And then Elijah commanded the people of God to fill four barrels of water and pour it over the altar. He had them do this four times.
"Now, said the teacher, "can anyone in the class tell me why the Lord would have Elijah pour water over the steer on the altar?"
A little girl in the back of the room raised her hand with great enthusiasm. "To make the gravy," came her enthusiastic reply.
97. CHURCH FOOTBALL
Quarterback Sneak - Church members quietly leaving during the invitation.
Draw Play - What many children do with the bulletin during worship.
Halftime - The period between Sunday School and worship when many choose to leave.
Benchwarmer - Those who do not sing, pray, work or apparently do anything but sit.
Backfield-in-Motion - Making a trip to the back (restroom or water fountain) during the service.
Staying in the Pocket - What happens to a lot of money that should be given to the Lord's work.
Two-minute Warning - The point at which you realize the sermon is almost over and begin to gather up your children and belongings.
Instant Replay - The preacher loses his notes and falls back on last week's illustrations.
Sudden Death - What happens to the attention span of the congregation if the preacher goes "overtime".
Trap - You're called on to pray and are asleep.
End Run - Getting out of church quick, without speaking to any guest or fellow member.
Flex Defense - The ability to allow absolutely nothing said during the sermon to affect your life.
Halfback Option - The decision of 50 percent of the congregation not to return for the evening service. (Only 50%?!)
Blitz - The rush for the restaurants following the closing prayer.

FACTS FOR FUN
LAST WEEKS QUESTION: Is there violence in Grimm’s fairy tales?ANSWER: More than a little! You may recall that doves peck the eyes out of Cinderella's stepsisters, that Snow White's step mother arranges a ‘hit’ on her young stepdaughter, and that Sleeping Beauty's suitors bled to death on the hedge surrounding her castle. And that’s just some! Grimm’s fairy tales are full of infanticide, murder, mutilation, cannibalism, and incest. But they're also rich with heroism and adventure and generally end with the bad guys getting their just desserts. (PC lovers beware!)

3. MEN AND DOGS THE SAME?Both take up too much space on the bed.
Both have irrational fears about vacuum cleaning.
Neither tells you what's bothering them.
The smaller ones tend to be more nervous.
Neither understands what you see in cats.
Neither does any dishes.
Neither of them notices when you get your hair cut.
Both like dominance games.
Both are suspicious of the postman.
4. DOGS ARE BETTER THAN MEN!
How dogs are better than men:
Dogs do not have problems expressing affection in public.
Dogs miss you when you're gone.
Dogs feel guilty when they've done something wrong.
Dogs admit when they're jealous.
Dogs are very direct about wanting to go out.
Dogs do not play games with you except fetch (and they never laugh at how you throw).
You can train a dog.
Dogs are easy to buy for.
Dogs understand what "no" means.
Dogs mean it when they kiss you.
5. BUT BETTER THAN A WOMAN TOO!
A dog's parents will never visit you.
A dog loves you when you leave your clothes on the floor.
A dog limits its time in the bathroom to a quick drink.
A dog never expects you to telephone.
A dog will not get mad at you if you forget its birthday.
A dog does not care about the previous dogs in your life.
A dog never expects flowers on Valentine's Day.
The later you are, the happier a dog is to see you.
A dog does not shop.

Survey shows vast numbers of Christian men addicted to porn and having affairs
October 8, 2014By Mark Ellis
A national survey of Christian men reveals that alarming numbers are using porn and engaging in sexual infidelity.
The 2014 survey was commissioned by Proven Men Ministries and conducted by Barna Group among adult men who identified themselves as Christians.
The statistics for Christian men between the ages of 18-30 are striking: Some 77% view pornography at least monthly; 36% view pornography at least daily, and 32% admit their addiction to porn (another 12% think they may be).
The survey’s results for middle-aged Christian men (ages 31-49) are no less disturbing: Some 64% view pornography at least monthly; and 18% admit being addicted to pornography (another 8% think they may be).
Some 55% of married Christian men viewed porn at least monthly and 35% had a sexual affair while married, according to the Barna survey.
“These statistics knock the wind right out of you,†says Joel Hesch, the founder of Proven Men Ministries. “There definitely is a problem with pornography and affairs among Christian men and people are starving for the church to step forward with solutions,†he says.
“Pornography is one of the biggest unaddressed problems in the church,†Hesch adds.
Those who identify themselves as born-again Christians revealed similar struggles with pornography and affairs, with 54% admitting they look at pornography at least once a month and 31% having had a sexual affair while married.
Hesch, a law professor at Liberty University, broke free from his own 20-year sexual addiction to pornography and masturbation, which extended seven years into his marriage. He created a biblically based system known as the Proven Path for Sexual Integrity, which involves a 12-week course of study, a leadership guide and a book on sexual integrity.
“We believe Jesus is the answer,†he says. “We are taking the Proven Path directly to churches with the goal of helping one million Christian men experience freedom and victory from pornography and sexual addiction.â€
Hesch sees some underlying character qualities that contribute to porn addiction. “The root issue that feeds sexual addiction is pride and selfishness,†he notes. He wants men to grow in personal integrity in all areas – to become “proven men.â€
“The mark of a proven man is not the absence of sin,†he says, “but how you respond to setbacks.â€
Hesch has been free from pornography and masturbation for 17 years. “I want men to become proven across the board. I have realized what it means to pick up your cross every day. I know that every day I may be tempted, so every day I put on the armor of God.â€
To find out more about how you can be a part of the solution, visit their website at www.ProvenMen.org. The full survey results are located at www.ProvenMen.org/2014PornStudy/Christian-Porn-Stats.

A REVELATION OF....... THE AMAZING TABERNACLE OF MOSESThe first modern revelation of the importance of Moses Tabernacle as being the pattern of a godly walk, and one of church development and life, came out of the Latter Rain Movement, after World War 2.
In more recent times the teaching has been neglected, but it is still applicable today. And the Lord is today, giving even more revelation about it, as we move still closer to the end of the age.
Yes, an understanding of Moses Tabernacle is vital for every Christian with a heart to know God and His plans in a deeper way.
I pray that you will find it as illuminating, challenging, yet encouraging, as I have in my life.

WAXING LYRICAL
Faith is an issue for all of us. As humans, doubt is a greater part of our nature than we would like it to be! But why?FAITH
I wonder why, when 'faith' is an issue,
So often then, we reach for a tissue,
To mop up the tears of doubt you see,
That assail us now, both you and me.
For on the one hand, we trust God with our all,
On the other, human doubt, our faith does stall!
"Will He or wont He?" we are wont to think,
Our faith, once so strong, begins to sink.
"You've always proved faithful to me, my Lord,"
While former blessings, I wish I could hoard!
Each new level requiring greater trust in Him,
Memories of past successes faded, now so dim.
If today's faith was the same as in the past,
Our belief in Him, just simply wouldn't last.
It would just be our own strength that had won,
Not that of our Lord, Jesus Christ the Son.
Now, today's challenge is to break new ground,
Then our faith in Him, it will be truly found.
Oh Lord, please help me in my unbelief!
You've come through again - what a relief!
Put simply, it's the way God's faith works,
Though to our human spirit, it still irks!
So if now, we are to mature and grow,
Trusting Him's, the only way to go!

A DAVID MUSING
We are - sadly - back from beautiful Fiji. A week is far too short, but we had a great break together, and with the Island people.Of course, being in the tropics it was warm, but not as sunny as we would have wished. The resort where we stayed (in one of the units shown) had not had rain for over 2 months - a drought for them. We brought some rain (of the Holy Spirit, of course!) with us, along with clouds and occasional sunshine. Interestingly, in spite of the conditions we still managed to get some tan, enough so people can tell we have been away!
It was so nice to be internet - and nearly phone - free for a week! LOL!
Now to catch up on the emails!
So until next week.....

Our role is to bless and encourage those in ministry while promoting co-operation and unity of direction amongst the body of Christ, as emphasised 3 times by Jesus in His longest prayer, immediately prior to His arrest and crucifixion. "… so that they may be one as we are one." (John 17:12, 21, 23-4) Our website is currently being developed to encourage your participation one with another, to share resources, and to enable you to promote events and items of interest to the body as a whole – and have a smile while doing it!
