OUR SOURCE - GOD OR MAN
THE WAY OF JESUS
The conventional 'church world' has adopted the ways of the world to solve spiritual problems in worldly ways, based upon the Greek method of logic and thinking. We teach through education, and minister by counselling.
This was not the Jewish way. From my book THINKING GREEK OR HEBREW.....
EDUCATION (I) v EXPERIENCE (WE)
Greek (Western) In Greek culture, physical conquest was immediately followed by the setting up of educational institutions to train the conquered people in Greek culture and ways.
What we do, after a revelation is given by God, is to set up a new denomination with its own Bible College, to formalise and disseminate the truths that have been revealed.
Here in New Zealand, the pattern of revelation and formalisation has been experienced within all the Pentecostal streams that arose through the various Holy Spirit revelations of the 20th century. Initial revelation, enthusiasm and changed lifestyle of leaders and people, were overtaken by the formality of organisation, position, theological schools, buildings, programmes and growing lukewarmness amongst both leaders and adherents, focusing more on the little that divides than the much that should unite. This is not unique to the Pentecostal Church but simply follows the pattern of denominational church separation since the Reformation.
The focus is on 'I' as an individual, and the 'bigger I' of denominationalism. The emphasis is on transformation, through education, of the mind.
Eastern (Hebrew) Converts into Judaism are absorbed into Jewish society and culture, so the they can learn experientially the ways of G_d (God).
In early Judaism, converts were absorbed into a tradition and experiential lifestyle, where learning came from absorbing the values and experiences of the forefathers as recorded in the Old Testament, as well as the Rabbi's and leaders of the day. There was a greater tolerance of differing views on many matters. There were 3 or 4 main groups, not the thousands we have today in Protestantism.
When a Jewish boy became a disciple of a Rabbi, he would copy his Rabbi in everything he did. Literally! In every way! Sit. Stand. Gesture. Walk. Eat.....
Jesus took a group of 'students' (disciples), those not good enough to become disciples of the other Rabbis, and trained them in His ways, living with them, teaching them by word and example, sending them out into the mission field to gain practical experience.
Jesus Sends Out the Twelve
He called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out evil spirits and to heal every disease and sickness. 2 These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon (who is called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John; 3 Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; 4 Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him. 5 These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. 6 Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. 7 As you go, preach this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven is near.’ 8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give. 9 Do not take along any gold or silver or copper in your belts; 10 take no bag for the journey, or extra tunic, or sandals or a staff; for the worker is worth his keep. (Matthew 10:1-10)
They participated in His miracles.....
16 Jesus replied, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.” 17 “We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered. 18 “Bring them here to me,” he said. 19 And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. 20 They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. 21 The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children. (Matthew 14:16-21)
He answered their questions.....
25 When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene, he rebuked the evil spirit. “You deaf and mute spirit,” he said, “I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.” 26 The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, “He’s dead.” 27 But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up. 28 After Jesus had gone indoors, his disciples asked him privately, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?” 29 He replied, “This kind can come out only by prayer.” (Mark 9:25-9)
They participated in the good times.....
The Transfiguration
After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. 2 There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. 3 Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus. 4 Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.” (Matthew 17:1-4)
and the bad.....
Gethsemane
36 Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” 37 He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. 38 Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.” 39 Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” 40 Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Could you men not keep watch with me for one hour?” he asked Peter. 41 “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.” (Matthew 26:36-41)
Discipleship was a group experience, where the group was more important than the individual, it was both word and deed, and it took place in the school of life, not the academic classroom.
SOME SPIRITUAL IMPLICATIONS FOR TODAY
1. The group, the cause, is more important than any individual within it.
2. Discipleship involves a change in lifestyle, not just academic knowledge.
3. A godly lifestyle change is the measure of a true conversion.
4. True discipleship training requires interactive experience with others more mature in the faith, in order to grow into the image of Jesus.

FROM THE WORD
THE WORDS OF JESUS
May we hear what the Lord is saying to us.
The Feast of Tabernacles (John 7:1-13)
“This is not my time to go, not yet; but you can go whenever you want, for any time’s the right time for you. 7The world has no reason to hate you, but it does hate me, because I make it clear that its ways are evil. 8You go on to the festival. I’m not going to this festival because this is not the right time for me, not yet.”
Cost of Following Jesus (Matthew 8:18-22, Luke 9:57-62)
People make excuses to delay following Jesus.
“Foxes have their dens, and wild birds have their nests, but the Son of man doesn’t even have a place to rest his head.”
“Let the dead bury their own dead,” “You go and proclaim God’s kingdom.”
“Nobody once they’ve started plowing and then looks back is fit for God’s kingdom.”
Teaching at the Feast (John 7:14-24)
Ignoring danger, Jesus arrives half way through to teach, surprising the Pharisees with His learning.
“My teaching is not from me but from the One who sent me. Anyone who chooses to follow what God wants will know if my teaching comes from God or if I’m only speaking for myself. Those who speak for themselves want to glorify themselves, but someone who glorifies the one who sent him is truthful and not deceitful. Moses gave you the law, didn’t he? Yet none of you keeps the law! Why are you trying to kill me?”
“I did one miracle and you’re all shocked by it,” “However because Moses told you to circumcise—not that it really came from Moses, but from your forefathers before him—you perform circumcision on the Sabbath. If you circumcise on the Sabbath to make sure that the law of Moses isn’t broken, why are you angry with me for healing someone on the Sabbath? Don’t judge by appearances; decide what’s right!”

A NOTE ABOUT AFRICA
I am very proud of my wife of 47 years now, who has received this superb reference from her place of work. Also shows that she has the medical skills required to oversee the building and operation of the Eye Clinic/Hospital as she has done it all before!
Reference and Record of Employment for Kathy Tait.
Kathy has been working at Napier Eye Ltd since June 2007 as an Ophthalmic Clinic Nurse.
Kathy came to us as an experienced senior nurse and was still working concurrently at the Hawkes Bay Memorial Hospital as a theatre nurse across many disciplines, including ophthalmology. She took to clinical ophthalmic nursing seamlessly undertaking additional Nurse led Glaucoma training whilst in our employment.
Kathy’s input as a clinical nurse was invaluable to the day to day running of our busy practice and she also undertook additional training to cover all the administrative aspects of the practice to help cover illness and holidays. An essential function for a small, dynamic and growing business.
Her experience was then called upon again when in 2014 the planning started for the Bay Elective Surgical Theatre and expansion of Napier Eye – her decades of theatre experience were crucial in helping plan a successful elective day stay theatre and she has been working for the past three years as a core member of our Ophthalmic theatre team and also heading up the sterilisation unit as well.
Kathy most recently assisted us in getting our facility accreditation with an external auditing body.
Kathy’s level of competency and experience is something that is extremely rare today. She has an unparalleled “roll your sleeves up” attitude. Kathy has a willingness to take on any challenge whilst also having the knowledge and experience to do so with the highest level and skill and execution.
We will miss Kathy greatly, but understand she has a higher calling for this next step in career and life. She will be an invaluable partner to have in any project, and has the skills, experience, and training to support her unerring faith. We wish her and David all the very best.
Please feel free to contact me if wish to discuss this very special nurse further.

Maree Buscke

BOOK OF THE WEEK
SERMON ON THE MOUNT - THE KINGDOM WAY
JESUS’ GUIDE TO LIVING THE KINGDOM LIFESTYLE TODAY
The Lord led me to go back to a sermon/prophecy I received in a group mailing, and filed, some time ago. It is by David Wilkerson.
We look at the Bible, and sometimes it overwhelms us – or it does me! How can I extract from all the vast wisdom it contains, the principles for living a kingdom lifestyle today?
I couldn’t! So I asked the lord what was the answer to me seeking! A very sensible thing to do when in this situation, don’t you think? And He showed me! A brilliant summary of kingdom living is contained in just 3 chapters of the Bible, Matthew chapters 5-7, in what we know as the ‘Sermon on the Mount’.
Then He proceeded to explain to me what they mean, and this is what I am sharing with you now. May you be challenged, encouraged and built up in living for the Lord as I have been in bringing it to you, through both exposition and my personal experiences, both good and bad.

Join the many who have downloaded the 'The Words of Jesus'. I am sure you will be blessed by it, as I have been.
One key element here is the setting out in chronological order (as far as it is possible to do so) our Lord's words drawn from all the Gospels, and the elimination of repetition between Gospels.
You may be surprised by the different perspective this presentation gives you both in understanding of His life and ministry, and in achieving a closer relationship with Him.

DAVID'S DOODLINGS
RELIGION, REVELATION AND GOD'S KINGDOM
1022. Religion revolves round organisation, the kingdom of God, relationship.
1023. Religion is planned, God's kingdom, spontaneous.
1024. God's kingdom is visionary, religion, managed.
1025. Religion is birthed in the institutionalisation of a revelation of God's kingdom.
1026. 'God given' revelation quickly becomes 'man controlled' religion.
1027. God's kingdom is eternal, mankind's religion, transitory.
1028. Religion formalises the spontaneous informality of God's kingdom.
1029. God's kingdom 'upskills', religion removes the 'ups'.
1030. Religion is really 'the opiate of the priests'.
1031. To get closer to God we need to swap the bonds of religion for the liberation of His kingdom.

461. WHAT KIND OF CLASS?
Back in the middle 1980's our pastor wanted to recognize a ladies class for a recent accomplishment. He quickly found out he was between a rock and a hard spot. You can't mention that this is the ladies class aged 55 and above. The next thought he had was that this was the ladies class with the highest number enrolled of any class in the church.
Much to his embarrassment the statement came out "the large ladies class". The congregation erupted in laughter as our red faced pastor sat down.
460. WHAT KIND OF OFFERING?
Someone had a great idea. We'd sell stock in our mission trip to help cover the cost. However, the promotional announcement in the bulletin that was supposed to promote our Initial Public Offering said something different. On the front page of our Church weekly newsletter was this heading to our message from our pastor: Initial PUBIC Offering. It erased any doubt about the newsletter readership.
459. POOR GEOGRAPHY
A little girl from Minneapolis came home from Sunday school with a frown on her face. "I'm not going back there anymore," she announced with finality.
"I don't like the Bible they keep teaching us."
"Why not?" asked her astonished mother.
"Because," said the little girl, "that Bible is always talking about St. Paul, and it never once mentions Minneapolis."

Checking the menu, a restaurant customer ordered a bowl of vegetable soup. After a couple of spoonfuls, he saw a circle of wetness right under the bowl on the tablecloth. He called the waitress over and said, "It's all wet down here. The bowl must be cracked." The waitress said, "You ordered vegetable soup, didn't you?" "Yes." "Maybe it has a leek in it!"
THE FLY AND THE COW

THE READERS
Two retired professors were vacationing with their wives at a hotel in the Catskills. They were sitting on the veranda one summer evening, watching the sunset. The history professor asked the psychology professor, "Have you read Marx?" To which the professor of psychology replied, "Yes. I think it's these pesky wicker chairs."
THE MINISTER AND THE PAINT
A Minister had a group of trustees over to paint the parsonage. It was getting late and it looked like they were going to run out of paint, but by that time the paint store was closed. The pastor looked and noted that it was water based paint, so they added water to thin the paint and finished the job. That night it rained cats and dogs. The pastor worried that the paint which wasn't dry would be washed from the house. Sure enough, in the morning all the paint to which they had added water was washed from the house. At that moment the clouds parted and the pastor heard a voice from above. It said "Repaint and thin no more."

The Love of God Turns an ISIS Leader from a Course of Death, to Life in Christ
“I was urging people toward jihad. But when I … heard the Gospel, I experienced a love that doesn’t exist within Islam. This love compelled me to become a Christian and be baptized … Today, I live to be a servant of the Lord Jesus and make Him known to all people.” -Muhammad* (a former ISIS leader)
Peter Wooding : May 9, 2017 : ASSIST News Service
When Muhammad* first met Leading The Way’s follow-up team coordinator Peter*, his plan was to execute him. But thanks to God’s miraculous intervention they have instead become brothers in Christ.
Peter said: “Muhammad heard that I evangelize to Muslims. He got my number and called saying that he wanted to meet and talk … When we met, he told me he wanted to believe in Christ. But I felt that something was wrong. At the prompting of the Holy Spirit, I began to speak to him very directly about the God of the Bible. He began to tremble severely. I put my hand on his shoulder and started to pray. Then we parted ways.”
Soon after, Muhammad had a powerful dream about the Blood of Jesus and went to see Peter to understand more about Christ.
“I explained the Gospel to him about the Blood Jesus shed on the cross for the atonement of sins. That very day, he told me that he wanted to become a Christian. Since then I have discipled him, and recently he was baptized.”
Shortly after Muhammad became a Christian, he confessed that he had intended to kill Peter.
“He was a Prince of ISIS, someone other ISIS members swear allegiance to and will die for,” Peter said. “He was planning to execute me … Now, this former Prince of ISIS treats me as one of his brothers.”
Leading The Way is a global ministry proclaiming the Gospel over the airwaves and following up with evangelism and discipleship on the ground. Through these broadcasts and on-the-ground follow-up teams, many Muslims are coming to Christ.
Muhammad said of his conversion: “I was urging people toward jihad. But when I interacted with Leading The Way’s follow-up team and heard the Gospel, I experienced a love that doesn’t exist within Islam. This love compelled me to become a Christian and be baptized … Today, I live to be a servant of the Lord Jesus and make Him known to all people.”
Muhammad is now leading a Bible study for three Syrians in his town.
Leading The Way’s Founder and President Dr. Michael Youssef says that this is just one of many stories the ministry has heard from radical Muslims who have come to Christ.
“What we are seeing God do is remarkable,” Dr. Youssef said. “Muslims who claim to have seen a vision or a dream of Jesus tune in to our teaching channel or reach out to our follow-up team. And there they hear about the very One whom they saw in a dream telling them that He loves them and died for him … We are witnessing a powerful movement of God. The Lord is moving in unprecedented ways, and Muslims are coming to know Jesus in numbers previously considered impossible.”

WAXING LYRICAL
Was sitting at the computer wondering what to write, when this came to me. Not sure that it applies to me today, but maybe to you? God works in mysterious ways! In my life and yours!
LOST AND FOUND
I cannot come.
Sounds dumb.
Why not?
In a snot!
What about?
In doubt.
No faith.
Am a waif.
Blown round.
Not found.
No sound.
Am bound.
Doubts abound.
Hardly profound!
I understand you, my son,
Life is not always fun,
My healing in you, has begun,
Into my arms, you may now run.
Your honesty and despair,
Does now let me repair,
Do not with others compare,
Together, we make a pair.
Come back to me my friend,
On life's road to wend,
Time with me to spend,
On me you can depend.
Thank you Lord,
Struck a chord.
Take me now in.
New life begin.
Peace in You,
Yes, it's true,
Thru 'n thru,
A new view.
You 'n me Lord,
In one accord.
Found your rest,
Just the best.
To You I submit.
As one we're knit!

A DAVID MUSING
What hard work getting this issue together in the correct format!
Thought I had it under control last week, but not so, as it has turned out! Trying to do new things results in new challenges - well problems to be honest, before the desired end result arrives.
It is the same in our walk with Jesus. Change and discomfort is required on the way towards maturity in the Lord.
We do not reach maturity, in any field, without overcoming challenges on the way. It already is, and will continue to be, on our new adventure to Webuye, Kenya. But we are looking towards the end goal!
Jesus is calling us all to change, in order to become more like Him. If you are not perfect, this applies to you, as well as to me.
Until next week.......
MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOU BLESS GOD.
