HOW LONG TO WAIT?
It has come at last! No, not just a trip to Africa, exciting as that is. But the first step in the fulfilment of a vision. For when I was but a boy, attending a Billy Graham or similar Crusade, the Lord told me that I was to be the person up on the platform. I spent most of the first 42 years of my life running away from that vision and the next 12 in training for it. You’re right, I’m now 54 years young!Over more recent years this vision has been confirmed by others, yet it still has to come to pass. Seven years ago, almost to the week, I tasted what is to come in the form of a small series of evangelistic meetings in which the Lord’s presence powerfully came, particularly on the third and final night. But even then I had, and will always have, more learning to do. For when we stop learning, we start growing old – in mind as well as body. But now, I sense, it is time.
How long do we have to wait for God’s promises to us to be fulfilled? Usually longer than we would expect, hope, or wish to wait! For God exists in eternity, where limitations of time are non-existent. Can’t wait for it one day, but it is really frustrating now! Yet God knows best and His timing is perfect.
Maybe you too have been waiting a long time for a vision, for a dream, to come true. Do not lose faith; do not give up hope, for in His time it will come to pass. You can count on it.

FROM THE WORD
“The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.” (1 John 2:17)“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:1-8)
DAVID’S DOODLINGS
*** A fool believes he has all wisdom, a wise man is prepared to learn from others, while the godly man’s teacher is the Holy Spirit.*** Failure is often the first wrung on the ladder of success.
*** Easy success breeds arrogance, but success hard-earned, builds character.

FACTS FOR FUN
INBREDThe Bombyx mori, a silkworm moth, has been so cultivated by humans that it can no longer fly and needs human care to survive. Humans cultivating insects!
FIRST UNDERGDOUND
The world's first underground railway, between Paddington (Bishop's Road) and Farringdon Street - with trains hauled by steam engines - was opened by the Metropolitan Railway on January 10th 1863. The initial section was six km (nearly four miles) in length, and provided both a new commuter rail service and an onward rail link for passengers arriving at Paddington, Euston and King's Cross main line stations to the City of London. Pity about the view though!
THE AMERICAS’ FIRST UNIVERSITY
The Americas’ oldest university is not in the United States but in the Dominican Republic. It is the University of Santo Domingo, established in 1538.

LAUGHING AT OURSELVES
***Blessed are those who can laugh at themselves for they shall never cease to be amused***COLLECTION PLATE
A little child in church for the first time watched as the ushers passed the offering plates. When they neared the pew where he sat, the youngster piped-up so that everyone could hear "Don't pay for me Daddy, I'm under five."
SIXTEEN!
A little boy was attending his first wedding. After the service, his cousin asked him, "How many women can a man marry?"
"Sixteen," the boy responded.
His cousin was amazed that he had an answer so quickly. "How do you know that?"
"Easy," the little boy said. "All you have to do is add it up, like the Bishop said:
4 better, 4 worse, 4 richer, 4 poorer."
We can now laugh at ourselves even more as there are 35 new stories on...
IF ONLY I'D THOUGHT OF IT!
!!! Children aren't happy without something to ignore - And that's what parents were created for.!!! Yesterday is in the past. Tomorrow is in the future. Today is a gift; that's why it's called the Present.
!!! Too much of the Christian faith has become trimming on the dress of life instead of part of the fabric."
!!! It isn't what you have in your pocket that makes you thankful, but what you have in your heart.
!!! Hard work spotlights the character of people: some turn up their sleeves, some turn up their noses, and some don't turn up at all.

IF YOU HAVE TIME YOU MIGHT LIKE TO TAKE A LOOK AT...
The poem 'Victory'. My longest poem yet, but probably the one with the most meaning to me. It tells the story of an imaginary adventure, a walk through life. The first 2 parts are based on a hike Kathy and I did when on holiday in the beautiful Island of Rarotonga, 3 years ago now. How time flies! The final part is based on chapters 21 & 22 of Revelation. It contains a real message for today's Christians. You can find it at...
A DAVID MUSING
It's funny, when you do all the bits and pieces involved in going away, how one little thing can stand out and give you particular pleasure. Other things can give you pain! My back literally yesterday, and then a message from the Travel Agent on Friday afternoon to say that our passports would not be back from the Nigerian Embassy in Australia until Monday afternoon, when our flight was to leave on Monday morning! This would have meant delaying our trip until Thursday! Not the sort of news you want on a Friday afternoon - or any time for that matter! However this little problem has now been resolved with a bit of imaginative thinking and help from a friend. But the major thrill for me in getting ready has been the trip to the tailor to get my trousers taken in! Very spiritual! For since I purchased them last August I have slimmed down a good bit, so that they had become baggy around the waist. And I couldn't take them to Africa that way, for our hosts may have thought that I lost all that weight there!
Yes, for those of us in the 'middle age' range, losing weight is something to be celebrated. But now I have got that off my chest, (more literally from round my waist) I must get more spiritual, to receive the messages the Lord would have me deliver to His people. A nice memory though......

Our role is to bless and encourage those in ministry while promoting co-operation and unity of direction amongst the body of Christ, as emphasised 3 times by Jesus in His longest prayer, immediately prior to His arrest and crucifixion. "… so that they may be one as we are one." (John 17:12, 21, 23-4) Our website is currently being developed to encourage your participation one with another, to share resources, and to enable you to promote events and items of interest to the body as a whole – and have a smile while doing it!
