FROM PENTECOST TO TABERNACLES
We are about to depart from the magic continent that is Africa, where 5 weeks has flown by as if it was a few days, where black is truly beautiful, where little works as it truly should, but most importantly, where there is a hunger for God that we have long lost in the West. For me it has been a place where dreams have come true, where the revelations the Lord has graciously given over the past few years have been realised, brought to life by a people whose hearts are tuned towards receiving and implementing all that God has for them in these critical days. For when the necessities of life are in short supply, the principle of relying upon God is not merely a theory but a reality of day to day survival.
The levels of faith and commitment displayed by our hosts, Rev Dusan Pobee in Ghana and Collins Christopher in Nigeria, have been an inspiration and salutary lesson to us. For not only have they relied upon God’s provision to supply their and our needs, often on an hour by hour basis, but they have fully committed their personal resources, resources needed to provide the very basics of life, to fulfil the dreams the Lord had given them and to make our visit a life changing experience, not only for them and their people, but also for us. Dusan and Collins, we honour you!
Spiritually, we have seen the beginnings of a change – a move from the blessings and challenges of Pentecost to an experience of the awesome majesty, power and love of God the Father as revealed in Tabernacles.
It has been our privilege to see churches released into the blessings of Pentecost – we have had some amazing Holy Spirit parties! Africans know both how to move and to celebrate! But even more wonderful has been to move on to new and different anointings. The awesome, powerful but serious anointing of repentance and 100% commitment to the will of God the Father, expressed in the Day of Atonement, to the incredible times of heaven opening in celebration of the glorious Feast of Tabernacles itself.
Yes, we are now seeing the reality of the long promised birth of God’s final, end time Tabernacle Church. Adding to the truths of the sacrifice of Jesus reflected in the Feast of Passover and the power of the Holy Spirit given at Pentecost, the commitment, submission, power and celebration of God the Father, revealed in the Feast of Tabernacles. What exciting days in which to live! To see lives that have been changed by Jesus, empowered by the Holy Spirit, now being fully committed to the will of God the Father! As they say in Africa – Praise the Lord, hallelujah! Hallelujah, amen!

AN AFRICAN EXPERIENCE
Being ‘slain in the Spirit’ took on a new meaning at our host church in Jos (Jesus Our Saviour) here in northern Nigeria! For not only does the concrete floor have its share of the infamous ‘African Potholitus’, an infectious disease that plagues most of the continent, but it is also covered in a layer of brown, clingy dust! Add to the recipe a large number of beautifully dressed Africans and a huge portion of Holy Spirit anointing and you can start to imagine the result! Dust encrusted, Spirit filled, brown blacks! Has to be seen to be believed! Nor do they have automatic washing machines to repair the ‘damage’! And the next day they are again beautifully presented and wanting more! The memory of Pastor Ruth, a quiet, conservative lady, rolling round the floor under the power if the Holy Spirit will stay encrusted in my brain for a long time to come. Thank you Ruth, thank you Africa, for the memory!FROM THE WORD
“But when you are invited, take the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he will say to you, ‘Friend, move up to a better place.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all your fellow guests. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.†Then Jesus said to his host, “When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.†(Luke 14:10-14)“Then the angel said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!’†And he added, “These are the true words of God.†(Revelation 19:9)
DAVID’S DOODLINGS
### The foolish man seeks pleasure on earth. A wise man builds treasure in heaven. But the godly man seeks to build heaven on earth.### The world says, 'blessed is one who receives', but the Lord says, 'Blessed is the one who gives.'
### Discipleship is… placing God's needs and others godly needs ahead of our own.

FACTS FOR FUN
GOD CARESThe church of Renaison in France, while crowded with 200 worshippers, was set afire by a bolt of lightning and destroyed; yet, although every person in the church was injured, not a single parishioner was killed, and all were discharged from the hospital 2 months later on the same day in June, 1760. A bolt from the blue!
A HEALTHY DIET!
According to a December BOSTON GLOBE report from Xi'an, China, the Three Brothers Scorpion Restaurant claims to be the first in the country to reintroduce the 18th-century fascination with the scorpion into domestic cuisine, based on the health benefits. Scorpion venom, reduced in potency by a six-month process of preparation, is believed to aid against fever, chills, skin problems, immune disorders, bad kidneys, and possibly tumors. Other favorite dishes of Three Brothers are silkworm larvae, cicadas on sticks, and poisonous tree ants. The cure worse than the problem?

LAUGHING AT OURSELVES
***Blessed are those who can laugh at themselves for they shall never cease to be amused***SAVING OR SAVED?
A friend of mine, and her husband, were on vacation.
They visited a Church on Sunday.
My friend likes to sit close to the front.
So they entered a pew in the second row.
Shortly after settling into the pew, an usher came up to them, tapped lightly on bench, and said, "This pew is saved."
Her husband replied, "So are WE!"
There are now 100 ways to laugh at ourselves on ...
JUST JOKES
ACCENTUATE THE POSITIVEA guy walks into the human resources department of a large company and hands the executive his application. The executive begins to scan the sheet, and notices that the
applicant has been fired from every job he has ever held.
"I must say," says the executive, "your work history is terrible. You've been fired from every job."
"Yes," says the man.
"Well," continues the executive, "there's not much positive in that."
"Hey!" says the guy as he pokes the application. "At least I'm not a quitter."

ANOTHER AFRICAN EXPERIENCE
Before we came to Nigeria, we were warned by no less than the Nigerian High Commission in Australia not to come to Jos because of religious riots. And yes, there is a curfew between 11pm and 6am, but in all other respects this is a peaceful city, 99.9% inhabited by friendly, open, loving people, as indeed is all of Nigeria.Yet, the misdeeds of a few can affect the reputation of the whole community. For up until 3 years ago when democracy was restored, ironically under the rule of the army, the country was out of control. The people lived in fear, the police couldn’t do anything about it and the army weren’t really interested.
In the end, the community took matters into their own hands, in some areas seeking out and killing those who were causing the trouble. While the means of justice would be untenable in Western societies, desperate measures call for desperate solutions.
On our journey to Yola, a 6 hour drive, we went through 18 army checkpoints. For the army is now serving the people, rather than themselves. And the road that once was controlled by armed robbers, many from Niger and Chad, is now safe to travel.
Thank you Nigeria for taking us in to your hearts. Thank you for making us one with you. For anyone else who is thinking of coming but put off by the bad publicity, come! You will be enormously blessed! Thank you Africa, thank you Nigeria. We love you.
A DAVID MUSING
When you come to Africa, one of the first things you learn is that the word ‘maintenance’ is not in their vocabulary! All their emphasis is on ‘new projects’, which are completed with a great burst of fanfare, then used for the time that it takes for them to deteriorate until they become unusable. Then they are simply abandoned and a new project built! This huge waste of resources tends to favour the ruling elites who cream off huge profits from new ventures, but see little advantage in maintaining the old.Set me musing about our spiritual lives. Are we ones who continually seek out new exciting experiences in God, but neglect to maintain the spiritual foundations upon which our lives in God should be built?
For our lives are to be based on the foundation of Jesus, not on ‘exciting experiences’ which temporarily titillate our senses but need to be continually repeated in order to maintain our interest and faith in our God. Something from Africa to think about!

Our role is to bless and encourage those in ministry while promoting co-operation and unity of direction amongst the body of Christ, as emphasised 3 times by Jesus in His longest prayer, immediately prior to His arrest and crucifixion. "… so that they may be one as we are one." (John 17:12, 21, 23-4) Our website is currently being developed to encourage your participation one with another, to share resources, and to enable you to promote events and items of interest to the body as a whole – and have a smile while doing it!
