44 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.
45 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. 46 When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it. (Matthew 13:44-6)
The kingdom of God really is available now!
It is hidden to non believers, and sadly, to most believers also. Many believers are even looking for it, for they are (incorrectly) taught that it is a future kingdom only.
If it were not available now, then why would Jesus have told these parables? Jesus, in fact, is talking in the past tense here, about two people who have actually already found the kingdom. So logically, it has to be there to be found!
The kingdom of God is priceless!
It is a treasure in the field; it is also the finest pearl the trader has ever seen.
It is easy for us to build a fantasy picture of what 'heaven' is like - fluffy angels and golden paving. Suspect it will be different when we do get there!
But it is even more difficult to envisage that this beautiful, precious kingdom could ever exist on earth, amongst all the troubles and challenges we are facing in the world, let alone imagine what it looks like!
In fact though the kingdom already exists in those who seek it. We may not be able to see it, but it is there, within.
20 Once, having been asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, “The kingdom of God does not come with your careful observation, 21 nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is within you.†(Luke 17:20-1)
However, in the end times this inner existence will be reflected outwardly also, in kingdom believers, in what is often called the 'double blessing'.
And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. (Ephesians 3:17b-19)
Imagine being filled with 'the fullness of God'!
I had an aunty, Aunty Ina, who suffered badly from arthritis in her later years. However she would still cook (which won my affection!), but my greatest memory is of her sitting by the fire with her Bible by her side. In spite of her pain, the glow of the Holy Spirit shined from her. The kingdom within, was seen without!
The kingdom costs us everything!
The first man sold all he had, the second, all his precious pearls, in order to buy, (to inherit) the kingdom. To participate in the glory of the kingdom costs us our all. For we cannot live in two kingdoms at the same time. Either we live in the world (follow the ways of the world while maybe acknowledging Jesus as Saviour) or commit our lives 100% to Him (making Jesus Lord of our lives). Jesus spoke in this way as He prayed for His disciples at Gethsemane;
14 I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. (John 17:14)
The kingdom costs everything, for as black is the opposite of white, so true kingdom believers will reflect the light of Jesus to the world, who will either accept or reject the light.
8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) 10 and find out what pleases the Lord. 11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. 12 For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. 13 But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, 14 for it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said: “Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.†(Ephesians 5:8-13)

The Coming of the Kingdom of God"Once, having been asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, “The kingdom of God does not come with your careful observation, nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is within you.†Then he said to his disciples, “The time is coming when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, but you will not see it. Men will tell you, ‘There he is!’ or ‘Here he is!’ Do not go running off after them. For the Son of Man in his day will be like the lightning, which flashes and lights up the sky from one end to the other. But first he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation. “Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man. People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all. “It was the same in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building. Whoever tries to keep his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it. I tell you, on that night two people will be in one bed; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding grain together; one will be taken and the other left.†“Where, Lord?†they asked. He replied, “Where there is a dead body, there the vultures will gather.â€" (Luke 17:20-37)
A Prayer for the Ephesians
"For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen." (Ephesians 3:14-21)
Jesus Prays for His Disciples
"“I have revealed you to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word. Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me. I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours. All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them. I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name—the name you gave me—so that they may be one as we are one. While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled. “I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified." (John 17:6-19)

There's a little old Christian lady living next door to an atheist. Every morning the lady comes out onto her front porch and shouts "Praise the Lord!" The atheist yells back, "There is no God". She does this every morning with the same result.
As time goes on the lady runs into financial difficulties and has trouble buying food. She goes out onto the porch and asks God for help with groceries, then says "Praise the Lord". The next morning she goes out onto the porch and there's the groceries she's asked for, and of course she says "Praise the Lord". The atheist jumps out from behind a bush and says, "Ha! I bought those groceries - there is no God".
The lady looks at him and smiles, remarking as she takes the bag inside, "Praise the Lord, not only did You provide for me Lord, You made Satan pay for the groceries!"

Babe Ruth is credited with the invention of the modern baseball bat. He was the first player to order a bat with a knob at the end of the handle. Louisville Slugger produced the bat with which he hit 29 home runs in 1919. (The hitting end remained the same though, for it worked for him better than anyone!)

In the Northern Hemisphere, the rings of a tree are always farther apart on the tree's southern side. Woodsmen, by reading tree rings, can find the compass points. Of course the reverse is the case on the other side of the Equator. (Even trees search for the sun.)

A survey by the Barna Institute has shown that 84% of Evangelical Christians in America are very happy with life, and feel connected to others as compared to 57% of Agnostics and Atheists. 89% felt their faith was getting deeper, compared to 19% of non-faith people. Documentary Explores Modern Asia Revival
Adrienne S. GainesA charismatic evangelist is spotlighting what he describes as the world's "largest numerical revival" in a new documentary that premiers Friday.
1040, hosted by minister and musician Jaeson Ma, explores the spread of Christianity throughout Asia, where the church has grown at an unprecedented rate in recent decades.

In China alone, the number of Christians has mushroomed from roughly 1 million in the 1970s to 70 million today, with some sources estimating that there are more than 100 million Chinese believers. In Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim nation, almost 10 percent of its 245 million people are Christian, according to U.S. State Department statistics.
"It's such a mind-blowing movement because really what you see out there is the book of Acts, it's happening just like it was written in the Bible," said Ma, 29, a U.S.-born evangelist who founded Campus Church Networks, a student-led church-planting movement based in California. "People are being raised from the dead; signs and wonders are happening, miracles and healing. Churches are being planted every day. Millions are getting touched with the gospel. It's shaking society and transforming the culture."
The film's title refers to an area known as the 10/40 Window, a region between 10 degrees and 40 degrees north latitude that spans from North Africa to East Asia. Most of the nations are predominantly Muslim or Buddhist, and many of the world's least-evangelized people groups live in the region.
For nearly three months last spring, Ma toured China, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Indonesia, filming interviews with church leaders as well as with Asian celebrities, artists and entrepreneurs representing both Christians and non-Christians.
"I think we understand in the West that things are quickly, rapidly moving toward the East—and that's not just politically, that's not just economically, that's not just militaristically, but it's spiritually," Ma said.
"I truly believe that the Eastern church is rising up to be a global leader in the body of Christ in this hour to be used by God to kind of spearhead the finishing of the Great Commission," he added. "I think for us it's important that those in the West are educated to see what's happening with their own eyes and to join in on what God is doing and to partner with our brothers and sisters in the Eastern cultures who are really laying down their lives for the gospel."
1040 also features interviews with prominent Christian leaders and missiologists such as Mike Bickle, founder of the International House of Prayer; Youth With a Mission founder Loren Cunningham; Campus Crusade for Christ President Steve Douglas; and prayer leader Cindy Jacobs, co-founder of Generals International.
"What's happening in Asia right now is actually the greatest move of God in human history ... and a lot of the church in the West is not really aware how dynamic the church in Asia is right now," Bickle said. "There is a grass-roots movement that the Bible clearly talks about that will be so powerful in its influence, and I think it's mostly young people.
"They will operate in the power like the apostles did in the book of Acts, and they will so influence the culture and even the government in Asia that it will create the influence that causes Asia as a whole ... to resist the enticements and the threats of the Antichrist," he added. "That is massive in its implications."
Hip-hop artist M.C. Hammer, a minister and mentor to Ma, is also featured in the film. "The world is looking at Asia at this historical moment," he said. "With its economic rise, there is also a powerful spiritual movement that is spreading and transforming entire cultures."
Produced by Adventures.TV in conjunction with Arowana Films, 1040 is scheduled to premier Friday at the City of the Angels Film Festival in Hollywood. The movie will then be shown in churches nationwide as part of a grass-roots screening campaign. Screening information is available at the film's Web site. 1040 releases on DVD in June.

Celebrating the most important event in history – the death and resurrection of Jesus.To some it may seem like a tragedy but the reality is that it was the final victory for Jesus over sin and death, and through Him, for us too. The ultimate example of the saying, ‘No gain without pain!’ For the pain Jesus suffered that day was indescribable. He was beaten to a pulp, unrecognisable, not at all like the sanitised pictures we have
of this gentle looking man sadly looking down on his followers from the cross. He suffered the most agonising and extreme torture and death that it was possible for the Romans to inflict, and they were real experts at it.
This poem attempts, inevitably inadequately, to describe some of the events of that day, a day that had amazingly, been specifically predicted hundreds of years before it came. Indeed it was foreshadowed from the very time that it became necessary, the moment that Adam and Eve were separated from God through sin.
SEVEN TIMES SHED FOR ME
(Matthew 27:46)"Eloi, Eloi, lama sabaacthani" He cried,
My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?
On the stroke of the ninth hour he died
Rejected, cruelly nailed to the God deserted tree.
My Jesus, shedding his blood for me.
To Gethsemane he came, the holy one

With beard gone, Oh God, how could it be,
So intense the pain, more than he had feared.
Four times, my Jesus shed his blood for me.

A DAVID MUSING
It is nearly Easter - again! It seems only yesterday that we came into 2010!Now I know this is the talk of a 'mature' (in which way!?) person, for, for a 4 year old, their next birthday seems so far away. One year is a quarter of a lifetime! Unfortunately a much, much smaller fraction for me!
Life though, has indeed speeded up over the years. In the last 100 or so years we have moved from the horse to the Prancing Horse (Ferrari), from the sailing ship to the Boeing, from exploring the outback on foot to exploration of the universe on a Saturn rocket.
Major change has gone from being a 'once in a lifetime' experience to something we have to adapt to on a regular basis.
It is no wonder that so many seek 'instant gratification', for we do not know what tomorrow will bring. (In an instant, I just hit the delete button by mistake and have had to write this all over again! Jesus saves but I don't! If I had only written it on paper.......)
Easter however, is a reminder that one thing has never changed. The sacrificial love of Jesus for you and for me. Calvary is as relevant today as it has ever been. Jesus cried out in anguish, 'It is finished', and finished it was, is, and ever shall be, until His return to rule and reign with His kingdom bride. Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!
May we never, in the midst of a tumultuous, changing world, forget what He has done for us. May we thank Him, may we praise Him, every day of the year.
