TRANSFORMATION OF THE CHURCH: 3. FROM KINGS TO KINGDOM (continued)
The ultimate test (so far) of my willingness to trust God to provide came in late 2006 when I embarked on another trip to Africa.I had to pay for the tickets 1 month before departure and, as I have come to expect, the Lord provided the money to pay for them.
Now, my prayer changed from provision for the tickets to provision for spending money, not for myself, but so that I could help the people I was to visit. Three weeks passed - no money. Four weeks - no money. Surely someone will help at the airport - for you always hear of that happening to others. Napier airport - nothing. Auckland airport - nothing.
We had a little money left until Kathy's next pay. So I drew out $US30 from our personal account, leaving the balance for Kathy to live on. 'Well Lord, I have 50c a day to spend. This is new territory for me!'
I arrived in South Africa. I needed to buy a bus fare to Stanger, where I was to minister. $12 gone! Over the next few days I put more into the collection plates than I received (ie nothing!) until I had but $2 left. I didn't have enough faith to give that away too! And I still had to buy a bus ticket back to Pretoria. Maybe I would be stuck in Stanger forever!
Then the Lord started providing! We went to churches with an open heart for the teaching - and deeper pockets! The situation was relieved!
In summary I left Africa after 2 months with no money in my pocket, but having travelled through 4 countries, 2 of which were very poor. No, I wasn't able to bless the people financially, but imparted both the Word and the Spirit to those who weren't simply looking for a handout from the white man.
I really was then able to understand how the seventy-two must have felt when Jesus sent them out to spread the Gospel message.
3 Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. 4 Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road. (Luke 10:3-4)
While I was away I was introduced to the concept of sending second hand clothing to Africa. I would need a book to tell the full story of how! God works in amazing, and sometimes strange, ways!
Coming back to New Zealand, in February 2007 we started, without a cent of capital, to collect clothing. In 18 months we have built up an organisation processing 3 tonnes of clothing a week. It is now earning sufficient money so that we are able to support development projects in Africa.
This project is being operated, to the best of our ability, in kingdom fashion. I still work for nothing. We continue to live on my wife Kathy's income. We have a mixture of paid staff, partially paid staff and volunteers. The Lord has blessed it tremendously as there is no way it could be where it now is without His help and blessing.
The basis of our doing business has changed from the 'kingly' approach of our former mail order business (which the Lord blessed) where the profits were ours although we gave away a lot for the Lord's work.
Under the 'kingdom' approach we now adopt, the business and all moneys earned are His. Instead of operating as a private company, of which Kathy and I were the shareholders, the owners, we now operate as a charitable trust, purely and simply on His behalf. Nothing belongs to us - everything belongs to the Lord.

FROM THE WORD
JESUS SENDS OUT THE SEVENTY-TWO"After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road. “When you enter a house, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’ If a man of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; if not, it will return to you. Stay in that house, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from house to house. “When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is set before you. Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God is near you.’ But when you enter a town and are not welcomed, go into its streets and say, ‘Even the dust of your town that sticks to our feet we wipe off against you. Yet be sure of this: The kingdom of God is near.’ I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town. “Woe to you, Korazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. But it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you. And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted up to the skies? No, you will go down to the depths. “He who listens to you listens to me; he who rejects you rejects me; but he who rejects me rejects him who sent me.†The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.†He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.†At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure. “All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.†Then he turned to his disciples and said privately, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. For I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.â€" (Luke 10:1-24)
LIVING AS CHILDREN OF LIGHT
"So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more. You, however, did not come to know Christ that way. Surely you heard of him and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body. “In your anger do not sinâ€: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. 28 He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need. Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a man is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient. Therefore do not be partners with them. For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said: “Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.†Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ." (Ephesians 4:17-5:21)

DAVID'S DOODLINGS
FAITH143. Present faith is built upon our past experiences of its results.
144. Faith is like a baby – it needs to learn to crawl and to walk before it can run.
145. Faith is like dropping a stone into a pond. The small circles enlarge with time.
146. A single step of faith is necessary to start the marathon of life.
147. One step of faith is worth ten thousand words of talk about it.
148. Faith is but one small step for God, but viewed as a giant step by us.
149. The dropping of a small stone in the centre, ripples the entire pool of faith.
150. As we build a reservoir of faith experience, so our power generation capacity increases.
151. Enacting God-given faith is easy, for He never lets us down.
152. FEAR is the inability to affect the unknown.
153. FAITH is the ability to prevent the unknown affecting you.
154. ULTIMATE FEAR is the uncertainty of future hope when death threatens.
155. ULTIMATE FAITH is the certain hope of life after death.

LAUGHING AT OURSELVES
***Blessed are those who can laugh at themselves for they shall never cease to be amused****** "Those who can't laugh at themselves leave the job to others." ***
734. THE PASTOR
A youth pastor thoroughly enjoyed movie night with his young charges, but towards the end of the evening, he got a popcorn hull caught in a back tooth. He worried at it with his tongue, tried snagging it with his fingernail, and even tried to brush it out when he got home, but nothing worked. Frustrated, he went to bed. In the morning, the gums around the popcorn hull were a bit swollen. His wife insisted he see the dentist, so he called. To his surprise the dentist told him to come right in.
Once in the chair, the dentist had the offending hull out in a matter of seconds. "That's amazing!" said the pastor.
"How did you do that? I tried everything I could think of but couldn't get it out!"
"Oh, Pastor," responded the dentist, "Don't you know that kind only comes out with prayer and flossing?"
733. THE MATCH
Just before the football game started, both teams gathered together and prayed briefly. A fan seated next to a rabbi asked what he thought would happen if both teams prayed with equal faith and fervour.
"In that event," replied the rabbi, "I imagine the Lord would simply sit back and enjoy one fine game of football."
732. THE LIONS
A young missionary on his first term in Africa was reading his Bible in a clearing when a lion came up and laid down beside him. As he quietly prayed for deliverance, another lion came out of the bush and laid down by his other side. Convinced that this was a test of his faith, he returned to reading his Bible. As soon as he did, the two lions pounced on him and devoured him.
Moral: Don't try to read between the lions.

If it's in my mouth, it's mine.
If I can take it from you, it's mine.
If I had it a little while ago, it's mine.
If it's mine, it must never appear to be yours in any way.

BIBLE TRIVIA
BEHEMOTH ... OR HIPPOPOTOMUS?... In Job 40 a 'behemoth' is described, which is most likely to be a hippopotamus. They may well have inhabited the Jordan Valley in Biblical times, although none are found there now. The Hebrews knew them in Egypt and it is possible Job's name for this animal came from their Egyptian name 'pehemau', which means 'ox of the water.'

Letter from Zimbawe
This letter was received from my friend in Zibabwe illustrating their amazing capacity to remain positive in Jesus. May we not complain about our circumstances!Shalom my dearest.well all is well here, though under cicurmstances.we are
seing a lot of violence and brutalizing of innocent people and this is very
painful.i was this day visited by a man from rusape and he shows there people
are being killed.but we stand firm in the abilities and power of the supreme
God who knows how to preserve and rescue his people from all cunning ways of
evil of the enemy.
We had much time in prayer yesterday for this nation.the way people are
praying here and the way things are hard, shows that true salvation will only
come from God.he knows how to go about it my dear.now its more than words can
show.we are now at trillions.can imagine things charged at trillions!!!
I have realized that if one comes to the end,he has no choice but sometimes
just to laugh at this situation.crying will cause one to be sick.we have leant
to adjust and adjust and adjust….
You know when one has big trouse,he will adjust it to fit him.but if he
continues to slim again,he adjust it and then slims again ,then adjust it
until the trouse looses shape!!that is wht we are in.
But the good lord who abides forever has his way of preserving people.surely
truth on the ground does not permit any normal human being to continue to
live, but we see people daily moving and talking and praising God.
I am sorry for just bombarding you with all these negative stories my dear.i
just wanted to share it out.they say when one speaks out,the problem becomes
half solved.i don’t know what they mean by this.
Now,as for the church of Jesus Christ my dear, well,we are on fire!!!the hearts
of people are buring with the love of God.we have no one else to turn to for
comfort hence this has caused all our attention to be on Jesus.there is less
intertainment here, many cant even afford cost of beer now.so they come home in
time, spend time with their families.which is a good
thing!!!ha..ha..ha..ha!!!no wonder all things works for good my dear!!!!
We have three people lined up for wedding.one in august after able
ministers, another in September, and the other one in December.even when things
are negative, the saints of the lord are taking the kingdom and reigning for
ever with Christ Jesus.
I have found also in me that inner grace to encourage others.i know its
because of your prayers and support.thank you very much my dear.may the grace
of God continue to increase in your life.
I tell you my dear,it is like in the days of the prophet Elisha when donkey
heads were sold for food and people would rush for it!!!also like in days of
Slomon when people were eating their children!!!but hey,I can not eat my son
Elisha!!(ha..ha..ha..ha!!)
I was just waiting this election thing to pass, for it disturbs the preaching
of the gospel.but soon they finish their thing and the ground gets level
again,we will start firing the guns.one man said the gospel is the only gun
that fires a dead man and becomes alive!!!wow,, how I will shoot at them!!!
We have a revival from 2-6 july hear next week and the school of prayer from
24-27 july and then able ministers leadership development 11-14 august which
will be combined with mass crusades.please continue to pray for us.we have
seen three people who had gone back from the lord ,but now they have come back
and they are in the church again.again another sister who had run to
neighboring Botswana country has made an appointment for Wednesday here.she
also had backsliden there and got pregnant.the boy dumped her.please pray that
I be able to help her pick her life up again.
My dear,I would love to appreciate your close presence all the times.i love
you so very much.may life from God flow into your spirit.may you be forever
very close to the lord.hear his word and may he use you to touch many lives as
you are already doing.
Grace, favour and mercy be yours in abundance this wonderful Jesus day.
Loving you always.

WAXING LYRICAL
One of the first poems I ever wrote. Written in a time of trouble - as most of the bestpoetry is.
A FRIEND IS THERE
A friend is there to lend an ear,
To listen while you shed a tear,
To understand while others scorn,
To give you comfort as you mourn.
Yes, a friend is there.
A friend is there about you to care,
The one with whom you can always share,
Is there to help you carry your load,
As you walk along life’s wearying road.
Yes, a friend is there.
A friend is there when your burden is great,
You’re crying out inside, ruing your fate,
Desperately wanting to tear out your hair,
Because life, it seems, is just not fair.
Yes, a friend is there.
A friend is there to help you through,
To be with you when you’re feeling blue,
To support you as you come to terms,
With that stinking, rotten, can of worms.
Yes, a friend is there.
A friend is there to gear you vent your spleen
As you look back, wondering what might have been,
Had you done this or had you done that,
You wouldn’t be in the place you are at.
Yes, a friend is there.
A friend is there to help heal the sores,
To turn you away from settling old scores,
To look at life in a different light,
Helping you separate day from night.
Yes, a friend is there.
A friend is there both on heaven and in earth,
Waiting, yearning, to help with the rebirth,
One who is precious both above and down here,
The one in whom you can confide, without fear.
Yes, a friend is there.

"… so that they may be one as we are one." (John 17:12, 21, 23-4) Our website is currently being developed to encourage your participation one with another, to share resources, and to enable you to promote events and items of interest to the body as a whole – and have a smile while doing it!
