WALKING IN HIS PEACE
"For though there be trials and tribulations in life my son, I will give you My peace when you walk in My ways.""Thank you, Lord."
How long it takes us to understand, accept, and finally enter into the peace of the Lord. Yes, even while enduring the promised trials and tribulations of life. For our call is to 'rest' in our Lord, and He will take our burdens upon His shoulders. Indeed, He did just that, on that vicious but victorious cross, nearly 2,000 years ago.
This profoundly simple, yet excruciatingly painfully applied, principle of resting in Jesus, is at the very core of growing to maturity in Christ.
It is beautifully, and so appropriately described, in the very last chapter of the Bible, where, as we surrender ourselves in the 'river of the water of life', we will graciously be swept along into the very throne room of our God. The river is too deep to walk upon the riverbed of self control, the current too strong to allow us to determine our own destiny. Yet, as we relax in the flow, giving up our self will to that of the Father, we can pluck from the ever bearing 'tree of life', delicious, sustaining, empowering fruit of the Spirit, as we effortlessly float towards the very presence of His glory.
This journey, my friend, is available to each of us, in total fulfilment of our Christian walk. Sadly though, not all are prepared to make the self-denial necessary to enter into this ultimate adventure. But as we surrender, so we begin to participate in the fullness of the sacrifice made by our Jesus on that terrible tree at Calvary.
Are you one who will choose this most blessed walk? Jesus is calling us now.

FROM THE WORD
"Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever. The angel said to me, “These words are trustworthy and true. The Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, sent his angel to show his servants the things that must soon take place.â€" (Revelation 22:1-6)DAVID'S DOODLINGS
### God’s rest is a gift, but resting in God a way of life.### God’s rest is learned, not earned.
### A believer receives God’s rest, but a disciple rests in God. (March 2001)
### Man seeks to strive for God. God wants us to rest in Him. Couldn't be easier, couldn't be harder!
### God's rest is to be sought not only in death, but firstly in life!
### Lord, teach me not to strive!
### Resting in God seems too easy to be religious. It is! And it isn't!

FACTS FOR FUN
LAST WEEKS QUESTION: How long was the world's longest prayer meeting?ANSWER: How long does prayer meeting last in your church? Do the fidgits set in after ten or twenty minutes? We'll estimate the average prayer meeting at an hour. But the world's longest Prayer Meeting? Multiply an hour by 24; then multiply that by 365; and then multiply that by 100. That tallies up to 876,000 hours. The longest prayer meeting in the world actually lasted longer than that! It began on August 27, 1727, in Herrnhut, Germany, when Moravians under Count von Zinzendorf commenced an around-the-clock prayer chain that lasted more than one hundred years!
THIS WEEK'S QUESTION: What's the difference between a meteor and a meteorite?
Answer Next Week.
SOME FUN FACTS
!!! WANTING MORE
One of the men arrested for looting in the infamous Los Angeles riots was a $3 million Lotto winner who receives $120,000 a year from the state. (How much is enough?)
!!! A MIRROR IMAGE
In 1992 a San Francisco man walked through a plate-glass storefront trying to board the cable car he saw reflected in the shiny window. (Knew there was a good reason for not cleaning windows.)
!!! THE WEATHER
In 1875 the Times of London became the first newspaper to print a daily weather chart. (How accurate then - and now!)

LAUGHING AT OURSELVES
***Blessed are those who can laugh at themselves for they shall never cease to be amused***2 FOR THE PRICE OF ONE (2 X 0 = 0!) DAY
A LETTER TO GOD
Dear Lord,
So for today, God; I've done all right. I haven't gossiped, haven't lost my temper, haven't been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish, or even indulgent.
I'm very thankful for that - But in a very short time, God, I'm going to get out of bed, and from that moment on I'm going to need a lot of help!
Amen
TAKE A BREAK
A clergyman, walking down a country lane, sees a young farmer struggling to load hay back onto a cart after it had fallen off.
"You look hot, my son," said the cleric. "Why don't you rest a moment, and I'll give you a hand."
"No thanks," said the young man. "My father wouldn't like it."
"Don't be silly," the minister said. "Everyone is entitled to a break. Come and have a drink of water."
Again the young man protested that his father would be upset. Losing his patience, the clergyman said, "Your father must be a real slave driver. Tell me where I can find him and I'll give him a piece of my mind!"
"Well," replied the young farmer, "he's under the load of hay."

VICTORY!If you were inspired by today's first article, then you should read this poem, particularly Part 3.
The inspiration for the first two parts of this poem came from a cross-island trek Kathy
and I went on when we were staying on the beautiful Island of Rarotonga, in the Cook
Islands. For those who don’t know, The Cooks are situated around the Tropic of Capricorn
in the Pacific Ocean. A great place to visit! The last part is based loosely on the book
of Revelation, Chapters 21 and 22, the biblical promise of what is to come. Hope it is
both enjoyable and challenging to you. Of course it is just verse, so is not all strictly
theologically accurate! Called poetic licence!

LIFE'S A LAUGH
### Real life situations provide the best humour of all. You can either laugh or cry!###THE LITTLE THINGS
Officers at a military installation were being lectured about a new computer. The training officer said the computer was able to withstand nuclear and chemical attacks.
Suddenly, he saw that one of the officers had a cup of coffee and yelled, "There will be no eating or drinking in this room! You'll have to get rid of that coffee."
The officer said meekly, "Sure, but why?"
"Because a coffee spill could ruin the keyboard."

A DAVID MUSING
It's amazing how things work out in God's way and in His timing. Tomorrow Tony and I will be off to India for a month. Yet it has only been during this week that we have finally got our itinerary finalised. Now, while this would not be considered unusual to our African and Asian readers, the Western mind does like to get things organised a little earlier - well, most of the time! So God tests our faith by leaving things until the last minute. Removes us from our comfort zones!
However, we now do have an itinerary that we are settled and happy about and are looking forward to an exciting time in the Lord and with the people, in this great country.
Of course the world is now an international place, with Indian Restaurants being featured worldwide. Not so sure that the curries are as hot in New Zealand as in Bangalore though! Guess we will find out! Not doing to Delhi, so hope we miss out on the notorious 'Delhi Belly'! God is with us all the time, in every situation.
Will greet you next week from India! Per courtesy of the miracle of modern air transportation!
His servant and yours
