DAVID AND KATHY ARE SHIFTING TO KENYA TO LIVE! Part 8
Seven weeks ago, I said that my wife Kathy and myself were shifting to Webuye, in Western Kenya, to live on a long term basis, from mid-2017.SOME RANDOM THOUGHTS IN CONCLUSION
1. IN GODS TIME: Most of us who are keen on God, want to be used by Him, ASAP! (As Soon As Possible) Why are you waiting God? I am ready! BUT..... ARE WE? God has all the time in eternity. But we know all too well our time in this world is limited.
But God knows best! All the time! Reality is, we need to be fully prepared for what God has for us. We know what happens when we run ahead of God - disaster follows.
This particular call has taken 4 years to come to fruition. Yet now it is coming into reality in a far better way than I could ever have imagined.....
“For the vision is yet for the appointed [future] time It hurries toward the goal [of fulfillment]; it will not fail. Even though it delays, wait [patiently] for it, Because it will certainly come; it will not delay. (Habakkuk 2:3 AMP)
2. GOD OF THE LAST MINUTE: When it comes to finances or provision, in my experience, God tests my (our) faith by waiting until the last minute! I (we) now live by faith, having learned the hard way in the past not to try and provide for myself in ministry. My resulting bankruptcy cost me everything. God quickly told me in my exasperation that now, maybe I would rely upon Him! In fact we have no option! I do not have any part of the $160,000 we require, so He must provide (through people, not pennies falling from heaven) and He will. Having once been through Africa for 2 months on 50 cents a day I do have faith. That trip surely was provision at the last minute, when my $30 got down to $2 after a week, before He started providing! So I know.....
19 And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19)
3. A NEW EXPERIENCE: Before I reach Kenya I will have turned 70 (where have the years gone!) and Kathy will not be too far off that time of initial biblical promise.....
Our days may come to seventy years, or eighty, if our strength endures; yet the best of them are but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away. (Psalm 90:10)
Fortunately our strength endures! We were watching a TV programme last night on the science of living longer. The two keys seemed to be exercising both the body and the mind. Certainly both will be exercised in this radical change in our lives! LOL!
If we are only repeating what we have done in the past, we dont need to rely upon God, for we know what to do ourselves. This is the primary reason why revivals finish. For the leaders work out how God is working and no longer need to rely upon Him. They can now do it from experience - or so they think. The revival subsides.
New experiences increase our reliance upon the Father, for we have not been that way before. And apparently keeps us young too! PTL! LOL!
4. THE POWER OF SUPPORTERS PRAYER: Prayer is the glue that holds any work of the Lord together. It is a way that all can participate.....
You also must help us by prayer, so that many will give thanks on our behalf for the blessing granted us through the prayers of many. (2 Corinthians 1:11)
Of course, we all know how people (never us!) promise to pray but never do. Let us all pray for forgiveness! However, if you to know what we are doing, and perhaps pray for us, you can do this by registering for the WWJ Prayer list through sending a blank email to
SUPPORTERS PRAYER LETTER and we will keep you updated as to what is happening and prayer needs we have. Thank you.
5. THANK YOU: I thank you for allowing me to share with you, over the past 8 weeks, that which the Lord is leading us into. I pray that through this time, you too might have been encouraged about the future the Lord has for you, in His time. It may seem delayed. It may seem too challenging, but as the Lord leads, so He enables. He is simply seeking our obedience to His leading in our lives.
Amen

FROM THE WORD
THE WORDS OF JESUSMay we hear what the Lord is saying to us.
Second Rejection in Nazareth (Matthew 13:54-8, Mark 6:1-6)
When teaching in the local synagogue.
“A prophet is treated with respect except in his home town, among his relatives, and in his own family,â€
Workers are Few (Matthew 9:35-8)
Talking to His disciples.
“The harvest is large, but there are only a few workers. Pray to the Lord of the harvest, and ask him to send more workers for his harvest.â€
Sending Out the Twelve (Matthew 10:1-42, Mark 6:7-13, Luke 9:1-6)
After giving them spiritual authority and power.
“Don’t go to the foreigners, or to any Samaritan city. You are to go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Wherever you go, tell the people, ‘The kingdom of heaven is near.’ Heal those who are sick. Resurrect the dead. Cure the lepers. Drive out demons. You received freely, so give freely! Don’t carry any gold, silver, or copper coins in your pockets, or a bag for your journey, or two cloaks, or sandals, or a walking stick, for a worker deserves to be supported. Wherever you go, whatever town or village, ask for someone who lives according to good principles, and remain there until you leave. When you enter the house, give it your blessing. If the home deserves it, let your peace rest on it, but if it doesn’t deserve it, let your peace return to you. “If someone doesn’t welcome you, and refuses to listen to what you have to say, then leave that house or that town, shaking its dust off your feet as you go. I tell you the truth, it will be better for Sodom and Gomorrah at the Day of Judgment than for that town!
“Look, I’m sending you out like sheep among wolves. So be as wise as serpents and harmless as doves.
Watch out for those who will hand you over to be tried by town councils and will whip you in their synagogues. You will be dragged before governors and kings because of me, to witness to them and to the foreigners. But when they put you on trial, don’t worry about how you should speak or what you should say, because you’ll be told what to say at the right time. For it’s not you who will speak but the spirit of the Father will speak through you. Brother will betray brother and have him killed, and a father will do the same to his child. Children will rebel against their parents, and have them put to death. Everyone will hate you because you follow me, but everyone who endures until the end will be saved.
“When you’re persecuted in one town, run away to the next. I’m telling the truth: you won’t finish going to the towns of Israel before the Son of man comes. Disciples are not more important than their teacher; servants are not more important than their master. Disciples should be satisfied to become like their teacher, and servants like their master. If the head of the house has been called the head demon Beelzebub, then the members of his household will be demonized even more! So don’t be frightened of them, for there’s nothing covered that won’t be exposed, and nothing hidden that won’t be made known. 27What I tell you here in the dark, declare when it’s light, and what you hear whispered in your ear, shout from the rooftops. Don’t be afraid of those who can kill you physically, but can’t kill you spiritually. Instead, be afraid of the One who can destroy you physically and spiritually in the fires of destruction. Aren’t two sparrows sold for just one penny? But not a single one of them falls to the ground without your Father knowing about it. Even the hairs on your head have all been counted. So don’t worry—you’re worth more than many sparrows!
“Anyone who publicly declares their commitment to me, I will also declare my commitment to them before my Father in heaven. But anyone who publicly denies me, I will also deny before my Father in heaven.
Don’t think I’ve come to bring peace on earth. I haven’t come to bring peace, but a sword. I’ve come to turn a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. Your enemies will be those of your own family! If you love your father or mother more than me you don’t deserve to be mine, and if you love your son or daughter more than me you don’t deserve to be mine. 38If you don’t pick up your cross and follow me you don’t deserve to be mine. If you try to save your life, you will lose it, but if you lose your life because of me you will save it. Those who welcome you welcome me, and those who welcome me welcome the one that sent me. Those who welcome a prophet because that’s what they are will receive the same reward as a prophet. Those who welcome someone who does right will receive the same reward as someone who does right. I tell you the truth, those who give a drink of cool water to the least important of my disciples will definitely not miss out on their reward.â€
The Disciples Return (Matthew 14:13, Mark 6:30-2, Luke 9:10, John 6:1)
With their news. Jesus takes them away from the crowd.
“Come with me, just yourselves. We’ll go to a quiet place, and rest for a while,â€

BOOK OF THE WEEK
SERMON ON THE MOUNT THE KINGDOM WAYJESUS’ GUIDE TO LIVING THE KINGDOM LIFESTYLE TODAY
We look at the Bible, and sometimes it overwhelms us – or it does me! How can I extract from all the vast wisdom it contains, the principles for living a kingdom lifestyle today?
I couldn’t! So I asked the lord what was the answer to me seeking! A very sensible thing to do when in this situation, don’t you think? And He showed me! A brilliant summary of kingdom living is contained in just 3 chapters of the Bible, Matthew chapters 5-7, in what we know as the ‘Sermon on the Mount’.
Then He proceeded to explain to me what they mean, and this is what I am sharing with you now. May you be challenged, encouraged and built up in living for the Lord as I have been in bringing it to you, through both exposition and my personal experiences, both good and bad.

"As I am now, you soon shall be, so be content to follow me."

Someone had scrawled the following note on that gravestone...
"To follow you I'm not content, until I know which way you went!"

About Jesus...and about 10 minutes.
440. MODERN MOSES
God called down to Moses and said, "I've got good news and bad news. The good news is that I've chosen you to deliver my people from bondage. There will be plagues of locusts and frogs and incredible devastation upon the land. Pharaoh's armies will chase you as you try to leave, but do not fear because I will part the waters of the Red Sea to aid you."
"And the bad news?" Moses inquired.
"You have to prepare the Environmental Impact Statement," God replied.

276. HOW THINGS HAVE CHANGED
In 1977, less than 9 percent of physicians in the U.S. were women. (How long before only 9% aren’t?)
277. MUSIC WHILE YOU DRIVE
According to a survey, 75 percent of people who play the car radio while driving also sing along with it. (Driving solo, that is!)
278. STEAK OUT
When it first opened in 1957, the Pinnacle Peak Restaurant in Scottsdale, Arizona, was a general store and rest stop for travellers heading to nearby lakes. To boost sales of his small business, the original owner decided to serve dinners at weekends. He bought six steaks, some lettuce, and pinto beans, and offered an authentic cowboy cookout. The simple cuisine was a great success. What started as a weekend experiment grew into the world’s largest western steakhouse, with seating for 1,800 people inside and outside for 2,000. (Not such good news for the local cows though!)

186. HIGH BLOOD PRESSUREWhen a physician remarked on a new patient's extraordinarily ruddy complexion, the patient replied, "High blood pressure, Doc. It comes from my family."
"Your mother's side or your father's?" The Doctor asked.
"Neither," he replied. "It's from my wife's family."
"Oh, come now," the Doctor said. "How could your wife's family give you high blood pressure?"
He sighed. "You oughta meet 'em sometime, Doc!"

184. YESTERDAY
A resident in a posh hotel breakfast room called over the head waiter one morning and said with a wonderful and cheerful smile.
"Good Morning sir. What a wonderful morning I'd like two boiled eggs, one of them so under cooked it's runny, and the other so over cooked it's tough and hard to eat. Also, grilled bacon that has been left out so it gets a bit on the cold side; burnt toast that crumbles away as soon as you touch it with a knife; butter straight from the deep freeze so that it's impossible to spread; and a pot of very weak coffee, lukewarm."
"That's a complicated order sir," said the bewildered waiter. "It might be quite difficult."
The guest replied, "Oh? I don't understand -- that's what I got yesterday!"
183. LOGICAL IN LOVE

He wanted someone who enjoyed water sports, liked company, favored formal attire, and was very small.
The computer operated faultlessly.
It sent him a penguin.

Evangelicals Need to Stop Being Wimps
BY LARRY ALEX TAUNTON , CP GUEST CONTRIBUTORMar 15, 2017 | 9:46 AM
The views expressed by the author do not necessarily reflect the editorial opinion of The Christian Post or its editors.
In July 2012 I was speaking at a youth retreat in the mountains of Tennessee when I received a call from CNN. It seemed that Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy had publicly commented on the issue of same-sex marriage and now the gay mafia were out to destroy him and his restaurant chain. Would I, asked CNN, be willing to offer the orthodox Christian perspective on homosexuality and defend Chick-fil-A in this controversy? After reviewing Cathy's remarks and concluding that they were neither outrageous nor biblically incorrect, I agreed to the interview and, later that day I defended the Christian position on the network as vigorously as possible in the time that I had.
Shortly thereafter, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee called for Christians to mobilize and show their support for the embattled fast food restaurant with "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day." They did. Lines at the restaurant stretched for blocks. This event marked the first time I could remember Christians fighting back rather than meekly submitting to the media and special interest bullies.
But not all evangelical Christians were supportive of the Home of the Chicken Sandwich. In an article for World Magazine, Barnabas Piper, son of prominent evangelical pastor John Piper, wrote:
"I will not be attending 'Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day' on Wednesday. Here's why... Convictions, especially biblical ones, will divide people. That is inevitable, but not desirable. The separation of believers and unbelievers, when it happens, must be a last resort or an unavoidable result. Actions to the contrary, those that clearly promote an 'us versus them' mentality, are most often unhelpful. There is a time for Christians to engage in boycotting, such as when a business deals in obviously immoral areas or is clearly unethical in its methods. But for a mass of Christians to descend upon Chick-fil-A restaurants across the country tomorrow to support the leadership's view on this issue is, I believe, a bold mistake."
I was stupefied by these remarks. Piper is young and was, no doubt, well intentioned here. But, brother, if you can't be relied on to show up and order a combo meal in support of a company under attack for its commitment to Christian principles, when exactly can we count on you?
This wasn't about "the leadership's view" on homosexuality; this was about the biblical view of marriage and society. Besides, Huckabee wasn't asking Piper or other Christians to die for their faith. He wasn't asking them to take to the streets and destroy property as protestors on the Left have recently done in such places as Ferguson and Berkeley. He was asking them to do nothing more than eat a chicken sandwich and some waffle fries for Jesus. Has any protest in history been easier or tastier?
A generation ago pop star Bonnie Tyler famously asked: "Where have all the good men gone?"
Since then, the situation has only gotten worse, Bonnie. As C.S. Lewis noted, men in the English-speaking world have largely been emasculated, and men in the Church are seldom an exception to this decades-long trend.
To stand strong for one's faith in Jesus Christ and push back against a culture that, in the words of Isaiah 5:20, "call[s] evil good and good evil" is to be "divisive," "unloving," "bigoted," and "intolerant."
This is because evangelicals have confused Christ's command to love others with being likable, as if that were an attribute of God. (It isn't.) As such, they endeavor to be, above all else, inoffensive and polite. This doctrinal malpractice has given us a generation of men who are what Lewis called "men without chests."
I am a child of the military. I was born at Fort Benning, Georgia and grew up at such places as Fort Gordon, Fort Campbell, and Fort Lewis.
The idea of fighting for things that matter has never been foreign to me. I fully recognize, as the Athenian statesman, Pericles, observed, "Happiness depends on freedom, and freedom depends on courage."
My father, a career soldier, had a phrase he liked to employ whenever he saw a man behave in a manner that was less than manly. He would say something like, "That was candy-assed." Of course, my father didn't invent the idiom, but in his use of it you didn't need further explanation. You knew exactly what he was talking about.
The term fits the kind of Christianity that has infected the Church and sapped it of its vitality and strength. The expression might offend the sensibilities of some of my readers to which I can only say, it might fit you.
I urge you instead to be offended by the way our God's name is blasphemed in our country every day; by the 54 million children murdered in the holocaust of abortion since 1973; by the sordid sexual agenda that is eroding the very fabric of Western civilization; by the fact that Christians are dying for their faith, largely at the hands of Muslims, at a rate of 100,000 per year; and, most of all, by the reality that these things are being ignored, trivialized, or celebrated. These are things that offend me deeply, and I hope they offend you, too. Righteous anger has a place within the Christian life. Tap into it. In the words of Ephesians 4:26, "Be angry and do not sin."
Evangelical Christians comprise a hefty 26 percent of the U.S. population. I fully believe that if they were to find their voices, their courage, and were to dispense with candy-assed Christianity, that we would see a Great Awakening in America. Indeed, we would see America become truly great again rather than superficially so. But it will, as I say, require courage, because the forces opposing us seem determined to burn this country to the ground.
That cannot go unchallenged.
When Jesus said to turn the other cheek, he did not mean to turn a blind eye. The highest calling of a Christian is not to be civil; it is to be salt and light.
