A PLEA ON BEHALF OF JESUS
Did you know that Jesus gets lonely at Christmas? In the busyness of the season, we often become so inundated with Christmas activity that we often overlook spending time with the One whose birth we are celebrating!
So instead of reading David's editorial this week, let us both make more time for Jesus?
But I still have 10 functions to attend and 20 presents to buy...

FROM THE WORD
"“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.â€" (Matthew 11:28-30)"For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience. For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account." (Hebrews 4:8-13)
"This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth. This then is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence whenever our hearts condemn us. For God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything." (1 John 3:16-20)

THIS WEEK: A REVELATION OF……. THE PARABLE OF THE SOWER: Part 1 of 3I have heard and read the Parable of the Sower many times, absorbed the explanation Jesus gave His Disciples, and listened to many sermons explaining the explanation. But one day, as I was again reading this parable, the Holy Spirit gave me a further revelation. It changed the emphasis of, and transformed my understanding about, what was, and is for these days, the underlying and key meaning of this ‘story’. My wife tells me that I had been taught it a long time ago, but I had forgotten! So it was brought back to mind! Of course, being a male, my memory is far shorter than hers!
It’s now my pleasure to share it with you. I trust you will find it as inspiring and motivating in living your life, as it has been in mine.

LAUGHING AT OURSELVES
325. CHICKEN DINNER
After a community worship service, a farmer invited the local pastors, reverend, and priest back to the farm for dinner. At the meal, each clergy was served a whole young chicken. As the three returned to their cars, a rooster was seen strutting about, chest puffed out and held high. "He sure seems full of himself," commented the pastor. "He has good cause to be proud," answered the farmer. "He just had three of his children go into the ministry."
324. THE CONTEST
Between moments of dispensing wisdom, it seems that historical religious leaders had also learned software programming. One day, a great contest was held to test their skills. After days and days of fierce competition, only two leaders remained for the last day's event: Jesus and Mohammed.
The judge described the software application required for the final test, and gave the signal to start writing code. The two contestants feverishly typed away on their keyboards. Routines, classes, applets and applications flew by on their screens at incredible speeds. Windows, dialogs, and other intricate graphics began forming on their monitors. The clock showed that the contest would soon be finished.
Suddenly, a bolt of lightening flashed and the power went out. After a moment, it came back on - just in time for the clock to announce that the last competition was over. The judge asked the two contestants to reveal their finished software. Mohammed angrily said that he'd lost it all in the power outage. The judge turned to the other competitor.
Jesus smiled, clicked a mouse, and a dazzling application appeared on his screen.
After just a few moments, the judge was clearly impressed and declared Jesus the victor. When asked why the decision was made, the judge pointed out the unique characteristic that set the winner apart from all the other leaders: Jesus saves.

KNOWING YOUR ROOTS AND DESTINY
By: Loren Cunningham
YWAM's founder, Loren Cunningham, believed that years of theological training did not necessarily qualify people to serve the Lord effectively, nor should they be a requirement before encouraging young people to pass on the love of Christ.
At the time, this was considered revolutionary. The idea of having relatively untrained young people doing missions was generally not considered, and was even seen as potentially disastrous.
However, over the years, while mistakes have of course been made, the concept of short-term missions has added huge numbers of people to the task of world evangelization. It is now accepted as a valid contribution to mission work.

QUICK LAUGHS FOR A BUSY CHRISTMAS!
RELIEF!There's a banging on old Joe's country shack in the middle of the night. He gets up, rubs his eyes, opens the door: It is the Grim Reaper grinning and pointing at him.
"You come with me!"
"Oh," old Joe says, "am I glad to see you. I thought it was the IRS."
NO RESPECT
"I tell ya, I get no respect from anyone! I bought a cemetery plot. The salesman said, 'There goes the neighborhood!'" - Rodney Dangerfield
GARDENING RULE
When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
LIFE'S WISDOM
There are three ways to get things done:
1) do it yourself
2) hire someone to do it
3) forbid your kids to do it
A WOMEN'S AGE

A DAVID MUSING
Helped shift two families into different homes on Saturday. Not as hard as it sounds, as a big team from our church proved the truth of the saying, "many hands make light work." The interesting thing though was, on Sunday morning, I was not stiff and sore, as I would normally have expected. For I have spent increased time on the 'rowing machine' lately. While the rowing machine gets you nowhere, other than on a computer generated digital readout, it does help exercise some of the muscles that punching computer keyboards doesn't.Reminded me of a spiritual application too. In God too, in the end, you get out what you put in! Spend genuine time with the Lord during the week and the Sunday Service will come alive. If not, a 'spiritual hangover' is the likely result! Christmas is, in our country, a traditional 'hangover season'! But we are not of the world! Or are we?
So until next week...
MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOU BLESS GOD.
His servant and yours

Our role is to bless and encourage those in ministry while promoting co-operation and unity of direction amongst the body of Christ, as emphasised 3 times by Jesus in His longest prayer, immediately prior to His arrest and crucifixion. "… so that they may be one as we are one." (John 17:12, 21, 23-4) Our website is currently being developed to encourage your participation one with another, to share resources, and to enable you to promote events and items of interest to the body as a whole – and have a smile while doing it!
