MUSINGS ON THE KINGDOM - PAST, FUTURE AND PRESENT

KINGDOM PRESENT

We discussed earlier how many things in the Bible have a past, present and future fulfillment. For example, 'we have been saved, we are being saved, and we will be saved.'

We have also looked at the kingdom, past and future, so it logically follows that there must be a kingdom present, also.

Much of the problem we have in understanding or recognising this, is the fact that the current kingdom is first invisible, being found within us. Thus we have difficulty in accepting that the kingdom of God is for today. Nor, because of what we have been taught about the kingdom being future, do we live in kingdom victory today.

We understand that satan was thrown out of heaven, when he desired God's throne, to inhabit the earth.

However, we fail to understand the victory of Jesus over him, as was promised way back in Genesis;

he (ie. Jesus) will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.” (Genesis 3:15b)

Jesus overcame satan on the cross;

15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. (Colossians 2:15)

In so doing Jesus established His 'kingdom present' upon the earth.

Satan has been defeated! Through kingdom understanding and living, we are now able to strike satan's heel:

20 The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. (Romans 16:20a)

We again need to understand that the victory over satan has already been won! We have no need to fear him! He threatens us and makes a big noise but his threats are hollow, for we have already attained victory through becoming as one with Jesus.

I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God lives in you, and you have overcome the evil one. (1 John 2;14b)

And again;

7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (James 4:7)

Finally, for today, confirmation of the victory over satan through the verse upon which WWJ Ministries is based;

11 They overcame him (satan)
by the blood of the Lamb (Jesus)
and by the word of their testimony; (through the Holy Spirit)
they did not love their lives so much
as to shrink from death. (by obedience to the Father)(Revelation 12:11)

What Jesus did for us 'positionally' on the cross can be attained 'experientially' through the sacrifice of our lives to Him. Yes, we can have the victory over satan today through kingdom living. Hallelujah! PTL!

Submit Yourselves to God

"What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? You want something but don’t get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. Or do you think Scripture says without reason that the spirit he caused to live in us envies intensely? But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. Brothers, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against his brother or judges him speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. BIBLE TRIVIA (Weights and Measures)

WEIGHTS

A 'shekel' was .403 ounces. The 'pim, beka and gerah' were all smaller fractions of the shekel and weighed by balances. As the cubit was the standard measure, so the shekel was the standard unit of weight. Shekel comes from the word meaning 'to weigh'.

Fifty-Nine Christians Are Released From Jails in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN - On Friday, November 13, 2009, the sun came up with new hopes in the lives of 59 Christians in Pakistan after the Pakistani-based Christian organization, “Life for All,” had made a determined effort to give these people their lives back.

The imprisoned Christians, who have been in various jails in Pakistan, got the welcome news of their freedom after hard work made by Mr. Rizwan Paul, President of “Life for All,” who had presented a petition to Mr. Asif Ali Zardari, President of Pakistan, for the pardon of these Christians who he stated had been “falsely accused of minor crimes.”

The President reviewed the petition and approved the release of the prisoners who had been accused of minor crimes, and he vowed to review the release of other prisoners after reviewing the nature of their crimes.

The prisoners that were freed had been incarcerated in Adyala Jail, Rawalpindi; Kot Lakhpat Jail, Lahore; Sialkot Jail, Sialkot; as well as Peshawar Jail and the Karachi Jail.

Now they are free, and can breathe and move freely.

Extremely emotional scenes were seen outside the jails when the prisoners were released. Family members were present to greet their loved ones and they thanked “Life for All” for their efforts.

Representatives from “Life for All” were present at the respective jails to receive the released. They took the record of the released and then handed over them over to their families.

However, there are still more than 2,500 Christians in jails all over Pakistan who cannot afford the legal assistance for their release. There are many church-based and Christian/Muslim civil society organizations who claim to provide legal aid assistance to Christians and other poor people, but the truth is that the poor in Pakistan are implicated in false cases and end up in jail for years.

“Life for All” did not get any local / foreign aid for the release of these Christians.

Rizwan stressed that the Christian organizations “need to work together for the development of the community” in Pakistan.

WAXING LYRICAL

Our God is full of surprises! Comfort is not part of His vocabulary! This becomes a real test of obedience.

A MINUTE IS A LONG TIME IN GOD

When you are relaxed and enjoying life,
And all is normal with kids and wife.
When you are living in such a beautiful place,
And all is going well in running your race.
You are happy with how life is treating you,
Challenges yes - not too many - just a few.

Then along comes God, with His own plan,
Designed to upset the comfort of a man.
One minute the world seems simply so good,
The next, upon its head, is now being stood!

"David, I'm asking you to shift city and church",
My comfortable brain, with pain it did now lurch!

"But surely my God, this cannot be true?"
"Yes my son, it's what I'm asking of you."
"Well Lord , please give confirmation,
To help me overcome my consternation!"

Over the past two weeks, confirmations I've been given,
Logical improbabilities so great, must be God driven.
"Oh Lord, surely this is what you want me to do,
Have your way in my life Lord, I give in to you.
For you know best Lord, your plan for me,
I accept it now Lord, on bended knee."

Yes, one brief minute is a long time in God you know,
But obey His voice we must, if in Him we are to grow.

A DAVID MUSING

There is a saying in real estate, 'location, location, location'. This determines the value of a property. A property in the right location will cost more than an equivalent one in an inferior position.

In the case of our new Hastings Seekers store however, we have in fact shifted to a better location at a lesser price! And our turnover has doubled! A real estate miracle!

God is able to work miracles in us too. Our best 'location' is to be in the centre of His will for us! When we walk in His will, He does the impossible in our lives. But we first need to place ourselves there!

"Lord, I submit myself 100% to you today."
