TRANSITION FROM 'THE CHURCH' TO 'THE KINGDOM'

Remember from last 2 weeks.....
'The first requirement for specific ministry (of course, we are all to be ministers - literally, servants!), is a definite call from God through the Holy Spirit.'
The second requirement is to be prepared to do what God calls you to, irrespective of the cost.
Now, thirdly, true, God called ministry, comes without a salary attached! Surely not, David! We have to live! And doesn't the Bible say.....
17 The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching. 18 For the Scripture says, “Do not muzzle the ox while it is treading out the grain,†and “The worker deserves his wages.†(1 Timothy 5:17-18)
Yes, it does. But the real question is, "Where is this money for living expenses to come from?" Which comes first? The salary or the calling? For a guaranteed salary transforms a calling into a job, no matter what gloss is put on it. We now we have a church run by professionals, many of whom do an excellent job, but who (and particularly their spouses) are reliant upon man's organisation and goodwill, rather than trusting in God to supply. This is a hard word, I know.
Jesus modeled this when He sent out the 12 and the 72…..
5 These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. 6 Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. 7 As you go, preach this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven is near.’ 8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give. 9 Do not take along any gold or silver or copper in your belts; 10 take no bag for the journey, or extra tunic, or sandals or a staff; for the worker is worth his keep. (Matthew 10:5-10)
I literally experienced this when the Lord sent me on my last trip to Africa. He provided the airfares but no spending money. We had no money other than $100 in our bank account. I drew out $30, leaving the rest for Kathy to live on until she was paid again. I spent the $30 in 5 days in South Africa, before any money started to come in. I finally left Africa 2 months later, having been provided for by the people whom the Lord ministered to through me. This was both testing for me who was used to giving and for the Africans, who are used to receiving from the West.
When Paul wrote the words contained in 1 Timothy, he did mean to receive a salary, but to be supported by the people being ministered to on a voluntary basis. He preached the gospel free of charge.....
7 Was it a sin for me to lower myself in order to elevate you by preaching the gospel of God to you free of charge? (2 Corinthians 11:7)
He received gifts from people....
8 I robbed other churches by receiving support from them so as to serve you. 9 And when I was with you and needed something, I was not a burden to anyone, for the brothers who came from Macedonia supplied what I needed. I have kept myself from being a burden to you in any way, and will continue to do so. ((2 Corinthians 11:8-9)
..... and carried on with his trade of making tents.
After this, Paul left Athens and went to Corinth. 2 There he met a Jew named Aquila, a native of Pontus, who had recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had ordered all the Jews to leave Rome. Paul went to see them, 3 and because he was a tentmaker as they were, he stayed and worked with them. (Acts 18:1-3)
A number of years ago, I was involved with a pentecostal denomination, whose initial leaders had joyously shared the revelation of the Lord in house meetings and halls to all who would listen. The church grew rapidly, for the call and blessing of the Lord was upon them. As the group grew, other leaders came in who determined a central organisation was required. A Bible school was set up. Churches built. Ministers offered a salary. Then qualifications became compulsory. Today numerical growth has stalled and spiritually, the denomination has declined dramatically. I was able to speak to some of the original leaders, all of whom desired to go back to the old days of life and vibrancy, even though it was accompanied by financial insecurity. For the initial Holy Spirit led calling had now become a job.
This is a radical word, but its implementation is a key to kingdom growth. For the Western church and its leadership has got too comfortable in its ways.

Jesus Sends Out the Twelve"He called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out evil spirits and to heal every disease and sickness. These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon (who is called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him. I tell you the truth, it will be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town. I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves. “Be on your guard against men; they will hand you over to the local councils and flog you in their synagogues. On my account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles. But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say, for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you. “Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death. All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. When you are persecuted in one place, flee to another. I tell you the truth, you will not finish going through the cities of Israel before the Son of Man comes. “A student is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. It is enough for the student to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If the head of the house has been called Beelzebub, how much more the members of his household! “So do not be afraid of them. There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs. Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. “Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven. “Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn â€â€˜a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law— a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’ “Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. “He who receives you receives me, and he who receives me receives the one who sent me. Anyone who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and anyone who receives a righteous man because he is a righteous man will receive a righteous man’s reward. And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward.â€" (Matthew 10:1-42)
Paul and the False Apostles
"I hope you will put up with a little of my foolishness; but you are already doing that. I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him. But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough. But I do not think I am in the least inferior to those “super-apostles.†may not be a trained speaker, but I do have knowledge. We have made this perfectly clear to you in every way. Was it a sin for me to lower myself in order to elevate you by preaching the gospel of God to you free of charge? I robbed other churches by receiving support from them so as to serve you. And when I was with you and needed something, I was not a burden to anyone, for the brothers who came from Macedonia supplied what I needed. For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve." (2 Corinthians 11:1-15)
In Corinth

Crispus, the synagogue ruler, and his entire household believed in the Lord; and many of the Corinthians who heard him believed and were baptized. One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision: “Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent. For I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city.†So Paul stayed for a year and a half, teaching them the word of God." (Acts 18:1-11)

602. HEAVENLY TESTS
A Catholic, a Jew, and an Episcopalian are lined up at the pearly gates.
The Catholic asks to get in and St. Peter says, "No, sorry."

49. TALKING
It seems like every other car you see on the road has a driver who is busily engaged in a conversation on their cellphone when they should be paying attention to traffic, the road, etc. Occasionally, you hear of fatal accidents caused by people talking on their hand-held cellphone when they should be watching where they're going.
I have heard that some places in the US want to pass legislation restricting the use of a cellphone while driving. I think that if a driver causes an accident because he/she was on their cellphone they should be charged with DWI ... Driving While In-talks-icated.
50. THE MOST POWERFUL
One day in the forest, three animals were discussing who among them was the most powerful.
"I am," said the hawk, "because I can fly and swoop down swiftly at my prey."
"That's nothing," said the mountain lion, "I am not only fleet, but I have powerful teeth and claws."

Miracle from Myanmar
Zomi Mission Leader Organizes Chin Refugee Diaspora in the USA and CanadaBy Bill Bray

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (ANS) -- The waves of liberty in Myanmar (Burma) that began back in April, 2011 is spreading around the world. With the visit of President Obama to Myanmar immediately following his re-election last November, the pent-up hopes from decades of oppression burst out in many areas besides the booming economy, free press and flourishing political parties.
They are creating a new era of optimism and hope for Myanmar's many Christian minorities and unreached tribal groups, and causing a revival of Christian missions in the Southeast Asia country of 56 million souls.
This week, Lang Khan Khai participated in the first "Myanmar Launch Lab" at the Christian Aid Conference Center here to organize new engagements with the Zomi - one of the many Myanmar refugee groups here in the USA that are organizing new missions and sending money home to Christian missions in the Southeast Asia.
Christian Aid Mission (www.christianaid.org) has established a special fund for Pastor Lang's mission, Gift Code 715GNI, to receive gifts for his new efforts to organize the next generation of missions to the so-called Chin peoples of Myanmar.
Pastor Lang, head of Gospel Network Integrated Ministries of Kalamyo, has already visited over 20 congregations of "Chin" tribal communities who were accepted into the USA after genocidal attacks from the military junta in the federation of states which used to be known as Burma under the British colonizers. He plans to visit 100 more churches this year and next, working with Christian Aid and volunteers from Overseas Students Mission to raise up new missionaries and support for the growing work in Myanmar.
There are now about 50,000 "Chin refugees" in the USA from the Asho, Falam, Haka, Matu, Mindat and Zomi tribes. Lang has ministered among about 10,000 of the Zomi tribe, teaching marriage and family seminars and preaching the gospel in revival meetings.
"Our people are having problems raising their children here in America," he jokes.
But his ministry is not just to the problems of raising second generation Christians in an alien culture. As he travels, he is challenging young people who are getting modern educations here in the USA to forsake their new lifestyles and careers here to come back to Myanmar as teachers and missionaries in the schools, orphanages and churches he is planting in Chin State, Sagaing Division.
He is also collecting missionary support from the Zomi community churches that are thriving among the Zomi's here rebuilding their families in the USA and have no desire to go back to the lives of desperate poverty and persecution they remember from the old days in Burma.
The Zomi's, like other "Chin" clans fled Burma for refugee camps in neighboring Bangladesh, India, Malaysia and Thailand. From there, they have been resettled by sympathetic governments all over the world including Australia, Canada, and the United States.
The next Zomi Launch Lab sponsored by Overseas Students Mission and Christian Aid will probably be held in conjunction with the Ethnic American Network annual convention April 18-20 in Chicago.
Christian Aid Mission is celebrating 60 years of service this year. Founded by Dr. Bob Finley, author of Reformation in Foreign Missions, it helps support over 800 native mission societies that minister to 3000 tribes, tongues and nations. Cynthia Finley is the president. At present, Christian Aid helps to deploy over 80,000 indigenous missionaries.
Despite recent violence in some areas, particularly among the Kachin and Rohingya, most of the eight major language groups and 135 sub-groups in Myanmar are living in peace and giddy optimism about the future.
The GDP income per person in Myanmar is still only $446, one of the lowest in the world and only 1% of the average person in the USA. However, there is a rush of new investment and consumerism in the country.

A DAVID MUSING
Had a most successful seminar on Saturday i8n Lahore, Pakistan, via Skype. Worked under 'Pakistanee Time', which is the same as African Time! LOL! Like 1 1/2 hours late starting! But once we were going, it went well. Skype cut out, on average, every 45 minutes but quickly reconnected. So, spoke in a pink tent in Lahore from my office in New Zealand! The Word was well received and the Holy Spirit moved amongst the people.Thank you to Peter Julious and his gracious translator wife for all their hard work and financial sacrifice to make it happen. Maybe this can be repeated in other places round the world. May HIS kingdom come. HIS will be done on earth as in heaven. Amen.

A ministry dedicated to developing discipleship, fostering unity amongst God’s people to achieve the Great Commission, and in doing so, preparing for Christ’s return. It is securely based upon the foundational principles of the Apostles Creed while recognising the wide and rich diversity of beliefs amongst Christians in other areas. In accordance with the Lord’s direction, materials produced by the ministry are available, free of charge, to genuine enquirers upon request.
