THINKING GREEK OR HEBREW
Greek (Western)
Greek thought primarily views sin as a wrong belief or incorrect thinking. The mind is blamed for the actions of the will. Excuses abound for sin. Spiritually we emphasize what a person knows about faith. Hence we lift up knowledge about Jesus, such as is gained from theological learning institutions. Degrees, diplomas or other qualifications have become a prerequisite for spiritual appointments.
Eastern (Hebrew)
Hebrews view sin as wrong behaviour. They emphasize what a person does in response to faith.
The parable of the Good Samaritan is the most famous example.
30 In reply Jesus said: “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. 31 A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. 32 So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. 34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him. 35 The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’ 36 “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?” 37 The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.” Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.” (Luke 10:30-37)
The reason that Jesus hated the Pharisees so much was their spiritual hypocrisy - which would be pretty acceptable in our day too!
25 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. 26 Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean. 27 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men’s bones and everything unclean. 28 In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness. (Matthew 23:25-8)
And, of course, thoughts, words and actions not agreeing, cost Ananias and Sapphira their lives! The church was afraid then and should be so now!
Ananias and Sapphira
Now a man named Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, also sold a piece of property. 2 With his wife’s full knowledge he kept back part of the money for himself, but brought the rest and put it at the apostles’ feet. 3 Then Peter said, “Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? 4 Didn’t it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn’t the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied to men but to God.” 5 When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard what had happened. 6 Then the young men came forward, wrapped up his body, and carried him out and buried him. 7 About three hours later his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. 8 Peter asked her, “Tell me, is this the price you and Ananias got for the land?” “Yes,” she said, “that is the price.” 9 Peter said to her, “How could you agree to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look! The feet of the men who buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out also.” 10 At that moment she fell down at his feet and died. Then the young men came in and, finding her dead, carried her out and buried her beside her husband. 11 Great fear seized the whole church and all who heard about these events. (Acts 5:1-11)
SOME SPIRITUAL IMPLICATIONS FOR TODAY
1. Actions speak louder than words. Words and actions must agree.
2. The proof of salvation isn't a verbal statement, prayer or even a written pledge, but a life lived under the control, and in the image, of Jesus.
3. Ministry is a calling, not a profession.
4. Knowledge about Jesus is good, but a life changed by Jesus brings salvation and eternal life.
FROM THE WORD
THE WORDS OF JESUS
May we hear what the Lord is saying to us.....
The Jews Continue to Reject Jesus (John 12:37-50)
In spite of His miracles.
“If you trust in me you’re not just trusting in me but also in the one who sent me. When you see me you’re seeing the one who sent me. I have come as a light shining into the world, so if you trust in me you won’t remain in the dark. I don’t judge anyone who hears my words but doesn’t do what I say. I came to save the world, not to judge it. Anyone who rejects me and does not accept my words will be judged at the endtime judgment in accordance with what I have said. For I’m not speaking for myself but for my Father who sent me. He is the one who instructed me what to say and how to say it. I know that what he told me to say brings eternal life—so whatever I say is what the Father told me.”
Preparations for the Passover (Matthew 26:17-19, Mark 14:12-16, Luke 22:7-13)
Instructions to Peter and John.
“Go and prepare the Passover meal, so we can eat it together.”
“When you enter the city you’ll meet a man carrying a jar of water. Follow him and go into the house he enters. Tell the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher asks you, “Where is the dining room where I can eat the Passover with my disciples?”’ He’ll show you a large upstairs room that already has the necessary furniture. Prepare the meal there.”
Jesus Washes the Feet of His Disciples (John 13:1-20)
Peter protests.
“You won’t realize what I’m doing for you now. But one day you’ll understand.”
“If I don’t wash you, you have no part with me,”
“Anyone who has had a bath only needs to wash their feet and then they’re clean all over. You are clean—but not all of you.”
“Do you understand what I’ve done to you?” “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that’s who I am. So if I, your Teacher and Lord, washed your feet, you ought to wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example, so you should do just as I did. I tell you the truth, servants are not more important than their master, and the one sent is not greater than the sender. Now that you understand these things, you will be blessed if you do them.
I’m not talking about all of you—I know those I have chosen. But this is to fulfill Scripture: “The one who shares my food has turned against me. I’m telling you this now, before it happens, so when it does happen you will be convinced that I am who I am. I tell you the truth, whoever welcomes anyone I send welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me, welcomes the One who sent me.”

LAYING THE FLOOR
But wait for a big surprise next week! Well, next week! LOL!
DOWN THE HALLWAY TO MATERNITY NEXT DOOR
The final touchup of the paint.
THE PRESIDENTS INAUGURATION.
Finally, 5 weeks after William Ruto won the election, he was inaugurated, after a worthless case by Railla, his opponent, was unanimously lost 7-0 in the Judges decision. Most unusual here.
The major thing that struck me about it was the Britishness of the ceremony!
Right to a band wearing Scottish Bearskin hats (The fluffy ones)!
Being Kenyan, the ceremony started and finished 2 hours late.
Right after the ceremony made some legislative changes and many more in the days since.
No rest with Ruto in charge! Everything had been planned well before the election.
A new start for Kenya.

Join the many who have downloaded the 'The Words of Jesus'. I am sure you will be blessed by it, as I have been.
One key element here is the setting out in chronological order (as far as it is possible to do so) our Lord's words drawn from all the Gospels, and the elimination of repetition between Gospels.
You may be surprised by the different perspective this presentation gives you both in understanding of His life and ministry, and in achieving a closer relationship with Him.

DAVID'S DOODLINGS
SIN
1164. Sin is like an onion. God reveals it and we peel it off, with tears, a layer at a time!
1166. We cannot truly say we hate the sin in our lives if we are not prepared to do something about it!
1167. Contrary to common Christian exhortation, sin can be enjoyable - for a time. Many of us test the limits!
1168. Sin grows as it onward goes!
1169. Sin intensifies with repetition.
1170. Finally, thrills turn into spills!
1171. On Judgement Day, my sin is no-ones responsibility but my own.

TUESDAY TEACHINGS
THIS WEEK: THE PURGING OF THE CHURCH Parts 7 & 8
INTRODUCTION
The Lord has led me to go back to a sermon/prophecy I received in a group mailing, and filed, some time ago. It is by David Wilkerson.
David was the Founding Pastor of Times Square Church in New York City. He was called to New York in 1958 to minister to gang members and drug addicts, as told in the best-selling book, The Cross and the Switchblade.
After the introduction, he gave 11 bullet points about THE GLORIOUS FUTURE JUST AHEAD. As the Lord leads, I will expand on these challenging but inspiring aspects
Let us begin…..

*** Those who can't laugh at themselves leave the job to others. ***
QWIK QWIP: “Nothing else ruins the truth like stretching it.”
247. Never Heard In Church
10) "Hey, mister, get up! It's my turn to sit on the front seat!"
9) "Pastor, I was so blessed that I didn't even notice the service went over time by 35 minutes!"
8) "You know, I enjoy coming to Sunday School so much more fun than going fishing on Sunday."
7) "Oh, good! We have another missionary with us today!"
6) "Pastor, I'd like to volunteer to be the permanent teacher for the junior high Sunday School class."
5) "Yes, I would so appreciate having the opportunity to serve on the clean-up committee!"
4) "I just love singing choruses I've never heard before."
3) "Well, it seems the sanctuary is already filled, so let's just start the service early."
2) "Pastor, we would like to send you to the month-long Bible seminar on Maui."
And the number one statement never heard in church is:
1) "Nothing inspires me like the annual stewardship campaign!"
248. Pipe Organ
A local church built a new sanctuary. They moved their very fine old pipe organ from to the new sanctuary. It was an intricate task that was completed successfully.
The local news heralded . . . "St. Paul Completes Organ Transplant."
249. Letter From God
One day God sent one of His angels to earth to see how things were going. The angel came back and reported to God that things were very bad and very few people seemed to even want to live a godly life. God decided he had better send another angel for a second opinion. After a short time that angel came back with the same report.
So God decided that he would send a letter to each of the people that he felt were truly willing to serve Him and encourage them to keep the faith and continue to strive in the midst of evil.
Do you know what was in that letter?
No? Oh sorry, I guess you didn't get one.
250. One Student's Prayer
"Now I lay me down to rest,
And hope to pass tomorrow's test.
If I should die before I wake,
That's one less test I have to take."

A DAVID MUSING
Finally, and I truly mean finally, we have got a Loan Approval letter for an overdraft from the KCB Bank, a notoriously hard bank to get loans from.
Everyone told me it was impossible! Give up! You're wasting your time!
However, we desperately needed this overdraft, for several reasons.
I carried on until I got success after many months, maybe a year of rejections.
It is the same in God.
If you determine to get deeper into God and follow Him with all you have, you will get laughed at and criticized by many people, including most Christians. So sad.
Yet we are called to persevere to win th race our Lord so desires us to run.
The wide and narrow gates parable is so true. Very few are prepared to take the rocky road to the top of the mountain, being content to leisurely walk the wide and easy road leading to destruction. This includes most Christians also, I am sad to say.
Which road are you choosing to walk today?
Until next time.
His servant and yours
David Tait
