WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES - DON'T WE?
I'm a very strange creature! Kathy will confirm! In some things I like to be organised well ahead, but in others I enjoy the challenge of the last minute! For instance, PGIM!, being a current publication, usually gets prepared on a Sunday evening, our time. Amazing though, with time differences, many of you receive yours on a Sunday evening, supposedly even before it is written! But as we live in the first place in the world to see the sun (and the Son?) you see, we can steal a march on you!Tuesday Teachings on the other hand, can be prepared well in advance, for it doesn't have instant topicality. This was my downfall.......
For last week, as I was reading through the Old Testament, the Lord stopped me and gave a revelation about 'dividing the waters'. So I wrote it down in outline - and carried on towards my goal of completing yet another series for Tuesday Teachings. To get me nearly 3 months ahead! Oh yes, I prayed, asking the Lord if he minded, and simply got the answer, "Do as you wish."
On the day I received the word, I had a fantastic run! Those who know of my running will understand that when good things are happening, I run well. It is a sign for me. This may seem fanciful, but it happens so frequently that it cannot simply be chance.
The next day, I slowed dramatically! This was inexplicable, as I am training a lot at the moment, and such things just don't happen. The next day, the same story! I'll have a day off! Must be over-training. Slow again the day after. What is happening here? Maybe I am being told something? Should I really be doing these teachings? However I carried on with my series, but now with unease. The next day and the day after that! My series is finished - and so, just about, am I!
I've finished! Now I can write up the revelation! I started. Then went for a run. The time improved dramatically. As I continued writing, so the improvement remained, the next day and the next. Okay Lord, you win! I repent. How dare I put my comfort zone before your revelatory word!
This has been the first time the Lord had used my run to 'train' rather than 'acclaim'. He let me make my own choice, even though it was wrong. Yes, I was still working hard for Him. But that was not the point, was it. Really I had put myself first. Lord - forgive me.
It's so easy to do! To still do the ministry, but outside of His will. My simple prayer this week is that you won't make my mistake. For doing good is good, but being obedient is everything.
Now, if I were perfect, maybe I could stay fit without training! Dream on!

FROM THE WORD
" “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel. “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean. “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men’s bones and everything unclean. In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness. “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the graves of the righteous. And you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our forefathers, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’ So you testify against yourselves that you are the descendants of those who murdered the prophets. Fill up, then, the measure of the sin of your forefathers! “You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?" (Matthew 23:23-33)"“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’" (Matthew 7:21-3)

DAVID'S DOODLINGS
29. As we grow in God, what we are to do assumes greater importance, than what we are not to do.30. A new believer focuses upon the ‘thou shalt not’s’, while a mature disciple develops the ‘thou shalt’s.’ in their life.
31. God’s word is a two-edged sword, revealing both love and judgement.
32. To believe in God is good, to hear from God is great, but to obey God reaps the ultimate reward.
33. A man’s wisdom is based upon experience, but God’s wisdom comes through revelation.
34. It’s easy to be wise in theory, but a lot more difficult in practise!
314. The major difference between childhood and adulthood is taking responsibility. Many Christians dislike responsibility!
315. In nature, human growth occurs naturally. We expect the same in the Spiritual and get offended when others grow more quickly than us.
316. Human growth is measured in height, girth and wrinkles, spiritual growth by the 'fruit of the Spirit.' Often we confuse the two.

FROM YOU - TO ME - TO YOU
DavidThanks for the encouragement and teachings - they are always thought provoking. Just wanted to reply to your maths problem.
When science is at odds with scripture then the science is at fault but we must apply the right science:1+1+1=3 BUT 1x1x1=1 The One God eternally existent in three persons.

Dear David
Happy new year wishes to you, which are all that more meaningful given that last year ended on such a down note with the Boxing Day events in the Indian Ocean.
An original thought, however, from me to you.
A coincidence perhaps but 'Tsunami' could be seen as a metaphorical anagram
...'T sun am I' .... for 'Christ the righteous son of God'.
T = Ã
sun = Christ - sun of righteousness (Concise Oxford Dictionary)
am I = God (Exodus 3:14 'I am the I am').
I will leave any potential associated end times theological thought and signs of the times understanding for you or your readers to develop.
Blessings
Russell.

I agree that 1 + 1 + 1 = 1 can be confusing
Try 1 x 1 x 1 = 1 : it works even better!

Hi Liz
My week for mistakes! Read next weeks leading article.
I like (usually - unless it's by the wife! Just joking - I think!) being corrected when I am wrong.
If you would like to download and read through the 'Triffling Trivia' book on the website and prove me wrong again, I would be most grateful.
Cheers

THIS WEEK:A REVELATION OF…….THE 3 RIVERS OF GODIt’s amazing how God works! Six years ago now, as I was reading the last chapter of the Bible, He showed me that the river flowing from the throne of God was symbolic of the End Time Church – the ‘River Church’. See the picture on the cover of the book, "Eagles Fly High! at Eagles Fly High!
But it is only now, these many years later, that He is revealing the principles of the river. Revealing its source way back at the beginning of time in the Garden of Eden, flowing through Ezekiel’s Temple and culminating with the final promise of God’s Kingdom on earth contained in the last chapter of Revelation.
So let’s take a journey through time and see what surprises our God has in store for us.

LAUGHING AT OURSELVES
336. NOT TOO FUNNY
Pastor Beaverson was approached by a visitor after the service. "Pastor", she said. "I really appreciated your sermon. However, there's just one thing. I still can't figure out what the connection was between your text and the rest of the sermon."
335. CARS IN HEAVEN
It seems the head Deacon died and went to heaven. When Saint Peter met him at the gate, he explained that because of all of his good deeds done on earth, he would be given a Mercedes for his heavenly transportation. "It could have been a Rolls Royce", the Deacon commented. "But there were a number of deficiencies in your record, so this is the best we can do for you."
A while later, the Music Director died, and also appeared before Peter. He didn't fare quite so well, but was given a Yugo to drive. Although he accepted this graciously, inwardly he was upset, especially when he saw the head Deacon driving around heaven in his silver grey Mercedes.
Then one day, as the Deacon rounded a corner, he saw that the Music Director had had a terrible accident. His Yugo had crashed into a tree, and it appeared to be totally wrecked. And then he noticed that the Music Director was outside the car, and was laughing uncontrollably.
So the Deacon pulled his Mercedes to the curb, and jumped out to inquire what had happened. "What's going on?" he asked. "Why are you standing here laughing when you just smashed up your car?" "Because," said the Music Director between gasps for air, "I just saw Pastor Hester go by on roller blades."

AN EXCELLENT NEW BOOKLET ON AIDS
So good, we believe, for Asia and Africa, where the greatest problems are to be found, that we have made space available on our website to make the booklet available to all web users. The booklet has been designed to give to people in the worst AIDS affected areas, explaining AIDS the methods of its prevention. Written from a Christian viewpoint, but not overtly so, this valuable prevention tool is proving most helpful in the countries where it has been released.
The Tsunami tragedy is terrible, but pales into insignificance besides the ongoing AIDS nightmare - year, after year, after year. Over 60 million people have been infected and so far, 22 million have died. It is horrifying to travel through Africa and learn of villages where only the very young and the very old are left. AIDS has wiped out the rest.
The booklet has been produced under the auspices of the Foreign Mission Board of the
Apostolic Lutheran Church of America. All enquiries should be addressed to Alvar Holmes at

Egyptian texts confirm, about the time Moses killed the Egyptian overseer who had beaten the Jewish slave, the Hebrews were engaged in dragging stones for temples being built by Pharaoh Rameses II. Of course afterwards, he fled into the desert where he was prepared, this time, God's way, for releasing the people from captivity, 40 years later.Lots more Godfacts are found at...
WHEN BAD THINGS ARE GOOD!

A DAVID MUSING
When it comes to the weather, we always find it too hot or too cold! I prefer the warmth. But as I am writing this I am sweating - not because I thump the computer keys too hard, and certainly not too fast, but simply because it is very hot here at the moment. Normally a wind comes through the open door, but this afternoon, even the wind has deserted me.A few weeks ago, I was taken to a beautiful park in our volcanic region, found in the middle of New Zealand's North Island, where a thermal hot stream comes out of the hillside and flows down into a very cold river. The stream was too hot to lie in, the river too cold to swim in. But at the meeting of the two, yes, it was deliciously pleasant! I will go back and film it, one day.
It's most interesting then that God wants us to be an uncomfortable hot or cold, not simply a relaxing lukewarm! Obviously doesn't want to see us falling asleep, spiritually at least! How is your spiritual temperature today?
So until next week...
MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOU BLESS GOD.
His servant and yours
