HEARING FROM GOD
MY CONSCIENCE - NOW SPIRITWe have all had the experience of an 'inner voice' convicting us when we are about to, or have done, something wrong! We call it a 'guilty conscience'. If we don't listen and keep on sinning, gradually our conscience becomes hardened to sin in that area of our life.
While a conscience is part of the makeup of all people, it is truly activated in the believer. The King James Version expresses it by the beautifully descriptive word, 'quickens', both in the Old Testament.....
156Great are thy tender mercies, O LORD: quicken me according to thy judgments. (Psalm 119:156)
and in the New.....
11But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. (Romans 8:11)
Again, it is confirmed in Corinthians that we have a 'spirit within'.....
The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. 11 For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man’s spirit within him? (1 Corinthians 2:10-11)
This spirit in the believer is God's spirit.....
12 We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. (1 Corinthians 2:12)
And we have the mind of Christ.....
16 “For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him?†But we have the mind of Christ. (1 Corinthians 2:16)
The closer we get to God, the more the Spirit of God communicates with us in the daily to and fro of our lives.
Of course, we need to be mindful of which 'voice' is speaking to us! The spirit of the world can so easily influence us!
12 We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. 13 This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words. (1 Corinthians 2:12-13)
The more that we delve into both God and His Word, the greater the likelihood the internal quickening we feel or hear will be of God. It is up to us to eat our 'heavenly bread'.
4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’†(Matthew 4:4)
Our conscience, the Spirit that dwells within helps us to be light to the world.
35 See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness. 36 Therefore, if your whole body is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be completely lighted, as when the light of a lamp shines on you.†(Luke 11:35-6)
May we learn to listen to, and rely upon, the spirit of God, the Holy Spirit, to guide us in our daily walk with Jesus.
But most of the time, He talks to me through the Bible.

FROM THE WORD
"Concerning thy testimonies, I have known of old that thou hast founded them for ever. RESH. Consider mine affliction, and deliver me: for I do not forget thy law. Plead my cause, and deliver me: quicken me according to thy word. Salvation is far from the wicked: for they seek not thy statutes. Great are thy tender mercies, O LORD: quicken me according to thy judgments. Many are my persecutors and mine enemies; yet do I not decline from thy testimonies. I beheld the transgressors, and was grieved; because they kept not thy word. Consider how I love thy precepts: quicken me, O LORD, according to thy lovingkindness. Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever. SCHIN. Princes have persecuted me without a cause: but my heart standeth in awe of thy word. Rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil.I hate and abhor lying: but thy law do I love. Seven times a day do I praise thee because of thy righteous judgments. Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them. LORD, I have hoped for thy salvation, and done thy commandments. My soul hath kept thy testimonies; and I love them exceedingly. I have kept thy precepts and thy testimonies: for all my ways are before thee. TAU. Let my cry come near before thee, O LORD: give me understanding according to thy word. Let my supplication come before thee: deliver me according to thy word. My lips shall utter praise, when thou hast taught me thy statutes. My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteousness. Let thine hand help me; for I have chosen thy precepts. I have longed for thy salvation, O LORD; and thy law is my delight. Let my soul live, and it shall praise thee; and let thy judgments help me. I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not forget thy commandments." (Psalm 119:152-176 KJV)
Wisdom From the Spirit
"We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. No, we speak of God’s secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. However, as it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love himâ€â€” but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man’s spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words. The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man’s judgment: “For who has known the mind of the Lord
that he may instruct him?†But we have the mind of Christ." (1 Corinthians 2:6-16)
The Lamp of the Body
"“No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead he puts it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light. Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are good, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are bad, your body also is full of darkness. See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness. Therefore, if your whole body is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be completely lighted, as when the light of a lamp shines on you.â€" (Luke 11:33-6)

DAVID'S DOODLINGS
RELIGION, REVELATION AND GOD'S KINGDOM1047. So often the church attempts to compete with God's kingdom rather than promoting it.
1048. God's vision is our mission.
1049. Religion is the eager repository of yesterday's revelation.
1050. Revelation is eternal truth meeting today's circumstances.
1051. Revelation is from God's heart, religion, a product of the heart of man.
1052. Today's revelation becomes tomorrow's religion.
1053. One dose of God is worth more than a billion of religion!
1054. When mankind cannot accept God's revelation, they adapt it to become religion.
1055. The cost of God's kingdom is obedience, religion's, money. Most of us take the easy option!
1056. Religion goes as God's kingdom grows.
1057. Revelation tells us God's kingdom is available now, while religion places itself in the now, with the kingdom to be found in the future.
1058. Religion may well be the opiate of the masses, but God's kingdom is possessed by the godly, right now!
1059. Religion comes and religion goes, but God's kingdom goes on forever.
1060. God's kingdom now isn't freely given, but possessed through godly obedience.

LAUGHING AT OURSELVES
***Blessed are those who can laugh at themselves for they shall never cease to be amused****** "Those who can't laugh at themselves leave the job to others." ***
269. UNUSUAL MEMORIAL
A newly appointed young preacher was contacted by the local funeral director to hold a graveside service at a small country cemetery.
There was to be no funeral, just the committal, because the deceased had no family or friends left. The young pastor started early to the cemetery, but soon lost his way.
After making several wrong turns, he finally arrived a half-hour late. The hearse was no where in sight, and the workman were relaxing under a nearby tree, eating their lunch. The pastor went to the open grave and found that the vault lid was already in place. He took out his book and read the service.
As he returned to his car, he overheard one of the workman say, "Maybe we'd better tell him that's a septic tank."
268. WHY GOD CREATED EVE
The first 10 reasons why God created Eve.
10. God was worried that Adam would frequently become lost in the Garden.
9. God knew that one day Adam would require someone to locate and hand him the remote.
8. God knew Adam would never go out and buy himself a new fig leaf when his wore out and would therefore need Eve to buy one for him.
7. God knew Adam would never be able to make a doctor's, dentist, or haircut appointment for himself.
6. God knew Adam would never remember which night to put the garbage on the curb.
5. God knew if the world was to be populated, men would never be able to handle the pain and discomfort of childbearing.
4. As the Keeper of the Garden, Adam would never remember where he left his tools.
3. Apparently, Adam needed someone to blame his troubles on when God caught him hiding in the garden.
2. As the Bible says, It is not good for man to be alone!
And finally, the Number 1 reason why God created Eve...
1. When God finished the creation of Adam, He stepped back, scratched his head, and said, "I can do better than that."
267. ASHES TO ASHES, DUST TO DUST
After church, Johnny tells his parents he has to go and talk to the minister right away. They agree and the pastor greets the family.
"Pastor," Johnny says, "I heard you say today that our bodies came from the dust."
"That's right, Johnny, I did."
"And I heard you say that when we die, our bodies go back to dust."
"Yes, I'm glad you were listening. Why do you ask?"
"Well you better come over to our house right away and look under my bed 'cause there's someone either comin' or goin'!"

FACTS FOR FUN
LAST WEEKS QUESTION: What does the name ‘Jolly Roger’ come from?ANSWER: Each pirate captain had a different ‘Jolly Roger’ flag, but they tended to depict symbols of death and destruction, including the classic "skull and crossbones." The flags likely were intended to terrify the crews of potential targets. The oft-used black and white Jolly Roger was probably scary enough. But the red Jolly Roger was much more terrifying, as it meant that the pirates would show no mercy in battle. And where did the name come from? ‘Jolly Roger’ is thought to have originated from a nickname for the devil, ‘Old Roger.’ But it may also have come from the French word for ‘pretty red’ – ‘Jolie Rouge’. (Not so jolly for the pirates victims!)

142. THE OPPOSITE NOD
In Albania, nodding the head means ‘no’ and shaking the head means ‘yes’. (Pays to develop a stiff neck when in Albania!)
143. A FISHY STORY
The custom of serving a slice of lemon with fish dates back to the Middle Ages. It was believed that if a person accidentally swallowed a fish bone, the lemon juice would dissolve it. (That idea truly was ‘a lemon’!)
144. A 'FILTHY LIVER'
According to Aristotle, the liver served as the body's seat of emotions. He also thought that wind direction determined whether a baby would be a boy or a girl. (Which did you ‘wind’ up with?)

34. There are many false gospels being preached from pulpits in our day. (2Cor

(1Jn 2:29; Col 3:5-8; Tit 3:8)
39. Many professors of religion are forbidding people to be a part of the holy
body of Christ. (Mt 23:13; Ps 119:1-2; 2Pt 1:3-4)

God. (Jn 6:26; Rom 4:20; 1Pt 4:11)

correction or rebuke. (Jer 6:14; Pro 1:23; 1Tim 5:20)

Jesus Christ. (Jn 2:16; Acts 20:33; Jer 6:13)

of God’s presence. (1Cor 5:4; Ps 80:14-15; Jer 12:11)
47. Run from churches where you’re comfortable in your sin. (1Cor 14:25; Heb

265. PREGNANT TURKEYLast year at Thanksgiving, my mom went to my sister's house for the traditional holiday feast. Knowing how gullible my sister is, my mom decided to play a trick. She told my sister that she needed something from the store and asked if my sister wouldn't mind going out to get it.
When my sister left the house, my mom took the turkey out of the oven, removed the mixed stuffing, and inserted a Cornish hen into the turkey cavity...then re-stuffed the turkey. She then placed the bird(s) back into the oven.
When it was time for dinner, my sister pulled the turkey out of the oven and proceeded to remove the stuffing. When her serving spoon hit something, she reached in and pulled out the little bird.
With a look of total shock on her face, my mother exclaimed, "Barbara, you've cooked a pregnant bird!"
At the reality of this horrifying news, my sister started to cry. It took the entire family almost two hours to convince her that turkeys lay eggs!
266. MONTANA STATE TROOPER
In most of the United States there is a policy of checking on any stalled vehicle on the highway when temperatures drop to single digits or below.
About 3 a.m. one very cold morning, a Montana State Trooper responded to a call there was a car off the shoulder of the road outside Great Falls, Montana. He located the car, stuck in deep snow and with the engine still running. Pulling in behind the car with his emergency lights on, the trooper walked to the driver's door to find an older man passed out behind the wheel with a nearly empty vodka bottle on the seat beside him.
The driver came awake when the trooper tapped on the window. Seeing the rotating lights in his rearview mirror, and the state trooper standing next to his car, the man panicked. He jerked the gearshift into 'drive' and hit the gas. The car's speedometer was showing 20-30-40 and then 50 MPH, but it was still stuck in the snow, wheels spinning.
The Trooper, having a sense of humor, began running in place next to the speeding (but stationary) car. The driver was totally freaked, thinking the trooper was actually keeping up with him. This goes on for about 30 seconds, then the Trooper yelled "Pull Over"! The man nodded, turned his wheel and stopped the engine.
Needless to say, the man from North Dakota was arrested and is probably still shaking his head over the State Trooper in Montana who could run 50 miles per hour. Who says Troopers don't have a sense of humor?
267. CHRISTMAS KITCHEN
Patty had been wanting new kitchen cabinets for a long time, but her husband Don, insisted they were an extravagance.
She went to visit her dad for two weeks and when she returned, she was overjoyed to find that Don had surprised her by installing beautiful new cabinets as a Christmas present for her.
A few days later, Debbie, a neighbor came over to visit and after admiring the new cabinets, the neighbor added, "All of us were so glad that the fire your husband had while you were gone was confined to the kitchen.
268. QUEENSIZE
My sister-in-law decided to go on a diet after a recent trip to the store with her grandson. They'd stopped in front of a pantyhose display, and, as she chose a package, he read out loud: "Q … U … E … E … N … S … I … Z … E.
Grandma!" he exclaimed, "You wear the same size as our waterbed!"

BIBLE TRIVIA (Manners and Customs - Houses)
THE ROOFS.......... of these humble houses were made by laying beams from wall to wall, then putting down a mat of reeds or thorn bushes and over it a coating of clay. or mud. Sand and pebbles were then scattered over this and a stone roller was used to make it smooth enough to shed rain.

Prayer Campaign Aims to Restore Monrovia's Previous Name — Christopolis
AllAfrica.comMONROVIA, LIBERIA - "Prayerfest 2010" is organized with the theme 'Taking Charge', under the auspices of the City Hills Church of God, on Broad Street, Snapper Hill in collaboration with about 25 inter-denominational churches in and around Monrovia, according to the Liberia News Agency (LINA).
The Senior Pastor of the City Hills Church of God, Apostle Sam Bishops, said the Monrovia for Christ campaign is aimed at redelivering the capital city into the hands of its original owner, Jesus Christ.
Pastor Bishops observed that there might have been something in the minds of the founding fathers of the nation to have originally named the capital Christopolis, but it was subsequently renamed in honor of the fifth President of the United States of America, James Monroe - something he described as "an injustice".
He said the Church has embarked on a process to bring back the ancient landmark to the city, which was removed.
The five-day apostolic convention is expected to bring together several great servants of God, including the National Overseer of the Church of God branches in Guinea and Sierra Leone Bishop John Kunkun, Bishop Nathaniel Zarway of the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, among others.

A REVELATION OF... THE POWER OF THREE IN GOD AND THE CHURCH -In walking further with Jesus, I increasingly appreciate that this particular revelation of 'threes in God' has been hugely important in developing my understanding of God and how He works both in the church and in our lives.
It matters not whether you are a 'oneness', 'twoness', or 'trinitarian' believer. The concept still applies. For we're all very good at putting God in a box, limited to the walls of our theology and understanding. But, one day, we will know all the truth of the great mystery of God.
In the meantime, if you can grasp this simple, yet profound concept, I'm sure it will open up new realms of understanding for you too about God and His plans for His people in these end days.
It certainly developed my faith tremendously, being able to grasp more of God's mighty plan for me. And for you too!

WAXING LYRICAL
It is so easy to blame the Lord, or others, when things go wrong in our life. Yet the answer is found not in struggle, but in submission. Putting our life in His hands.LORD - HELP ME!
Now's the time when you are feeling low,
All your effort, with so little to show.
When life is getting on top of you,
God's Word doesn't seem true.
You're looking for a boost,
Chickens home to roost!
Nothing's working,
Life so hurting!
Indescribable!
Unbearable!
"Hey!
Pray!"
"Do I hear,
Voice in ear?"
"Now, listen to me,
One plus two, can be three!
If today, you will let me help you,
Your dreams, they can still come true.
When you rest your all in my gentle hand,
Your horizons, I will again, begin to expand."
Why do we ignore His advice?
Unwilling to pay the price,
Of giving all our being over to Him,
Rather let life's light, grow so dim.
Yes I'm still learning to understand,
Life, when it's placed in His hand,
Will simply, so much better be,
Than if it's only guided by me!

A DAVID MUSING
This week, there has been a mining tragedy here in New Zealand, in which 29 miners were killed in an explosion in a coal mine at Pike River. This disaster has been widely felt throughout New Zealand, particularly over the 6 day period when there was some hope of rescue, before a second explosion ended all hope for the miners trapped inside. Not another 'Chile miracle' here. Our thoughts and prayers are extended to the families involved.I have 3 interesting observations that illustrate how far our society has walked down the road of humanism (The spirit of the antichrist?).
1. There was a determination by all concerned to hold on to the hope of life to the bitter end, for this life is all there is. Sadly, little hope is now expressed of an eternal future.
2. In order to preserve life for as long as possible, society has taken a super safe, no risk, attitude towards all we do in our daily lives. Therefore, since mining is inherently dangerous, it should be abandoned, according to many. They fail to realise that without mining, we would have none of the goods that we all desire, indeed require, in our daily lives. Steel is made from iron, which is made with coal, both of which must be mined. Other than food, most of the modern appliances we use, are made from materials that come from under the ground. Think about it.
3. Man is now to be in full control of all things. There is no such thing as an accident, no 'act of God', any more.
While there are good aspects to each of these, in terms of caring for ourselves, their wholesale application in all situations illustrates societies belief, indeed conviction, that man, or 'personkind' to be PC, is the new 'supreme being' of our world.
I suspect there will be more tragedies to come, in order for God to reinforce to His creation, who indeed, is in control!
Until next week.......
MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOU BLESS GOD.
His servant and yours
David Tait
